Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 717 - 604 What to Do If Not Indulged? (One more update)_2
"Even if you can’t change it, you have to find a way to change it. If Luowa stays here all the time, can you even call it a home for the two of you? Have you noticed how scared the kids are, just afraid that Luowa will leave them." Yuan Hang paused and said softly, "Let me say something unpleasant: don’t pin your hopes on Prince Denton anymore; there’s a 90% chance he won’t come back."
Tong Airui shot him a warning glance. "Don’t say that again. As long as we haven’t found him yet, there’s still hope. That old couple and Luowa are holding on with just that sliver of hope."
Yuan Hang lightly propped up his face. "I’m only saying this to you."
Tong Airui gave his shoulder a heavy pat and said no more.
The two quickly arrived at the hospital. Yi Luowa was already waiting in the lobby. When she saw them come in, she quickly ran over.
Tong Airui smiled, spreading his arms wide and pulling her tightly into his embrace.
Yuan Hang coughed lightly, then shouted to the soldiers standing guard, "Everyone, about face!"
The soldiers turned around, laughing.
Tong Airui gently patted his wife’s back as he whispered in her ear, chuckling, "You really couldn’t wait, huh? Aren’t you afraid your subjects will laugh at you?"
"If anyone wants to laugh, let them! I’m hugging my own husband—what’s it got to do with them?" Yi Luowa pouted and wriggled out of his arms. "Let’s head upstairs."
Tong Airui lowered his eyes to look at her, and his brows immediately furrowed. "You’ve been crying?"
Yi Luowa pursed her lips. "I’m worried about the kids. If they wake up and don’t see me, who knows how much they’ll cry."
"If they don’t see you, they won’t cry because I know their tricks best." Tong Airui tightly held her hand as they stepped into the elevator.
When the elevator doors closed, Tong Airui exerted a little force, pressing her against the wall, then leaned in and kissed her lips.
Yi Luowa responded briefly but quickly pushed him away. "We’re here."
Tong Airui glanced at the already-stopped elevator, sighed bitterly, and shook his head. "Why is it so inconsiderate!"
Yi Luowa stood on tiptoe and kissed him quickly, grabbed his hand, and led him out of the elevator.
"How are Mom and Dad recovering?" Tong Airui asked in a low voice.
"They seem okay, and the doctors also said they’re recovering well. Mom is eager to be discharged, but I didn’t agree. I thought, if I tell them everything and something happens, at least we’re already in the hospital where treatment can happen quickly."
"I brought four experts with me. Later, I’ll have them check on Mom and Dad again. If it’s confirmed that they’re fine, then we’ll talk to them about everything."
Yi Luowa nodded. "Finally, you’re here. Now that you’re here, I don’t have to keep thinking ahead about everything."
Tong Airui smiled and ruffled her hair. "Now that I’m here, you can properly rest for a few days."
Yi Luowa clung to his arm. "Whether I can rest depends on Mom and Dad."
"I feel like they’ll be fine; after all, you’ve already taken care of everything."
Talking, the two arrived at the ward.
Yi Luowa gently knocked on the door. Without waiting for her parents to respond, she pushed it open and entered. "Mom, Dad, Tong Airui is here!"
Emperor Haotian and Empress Haotian were sitting on the bed, smiling as they looked at their daughter and son-in-law at the doorway.
"As soon as you knocked, we knew Airui was here!" Empress Haotian said with a smile. "Come in and sit."
Yi Luowa pulled Tong Airui inside. Seeing her parents sitting stiffly on the bed, she laughed. "Why aren’t you lying down; why sit up?"
"Our son-in-law’s here, and we’re so happy we could even get out of bed!" Emperor Haotian laughed and was about to get down.
Tong Airui quickly stepped forward. "Dad, don’t get up yet. I brought a few experts to check on you and Mom. If they confirm there’s no issue, we can go home in a day or two. Then, all of Royal Palace will be yours and Mom’s to roam."
"Experts again? There are already doctors here... You’re always troubling yourself." Empress Haotian sighed. "Well, it’s good they came to ensure your dad and I are fine. Then you can take Luowa back."
"Mom, I didn’t come to take Luowa. I came to help her look after you two. I’ve taken some vacation leave and can stay for a while."
Empress Haotian’s face lit up with a smile at her son-in-law’s words.
Seeing his mother-in-law’s mood improve, Tong Airui pulled out his phone and called Yuan Hang. In no time, the four experts entered the ward.
After examining Emperor Haotian and Empress Haotian and consulting with their attending physician, the experts finally reported their findings to Tong Airui and Yi Luowa.
"The recovery is good; you can talk to them, but make sure it’s under medical supervision."
Tong Airui nodded and glanced at the time, asking, "Honey, should we talk now or after dinner?"
"After dinner. Nobody should be talking on empty stomachs." Yi Luowa pressed her lips together. "Let’s have a proper meal with Mom and Dad; it’s been days since I’ve had the chance to do that."
Tong Airui gazed at her with heartache, gently stroking her dry, cracked lips. "You’ve endured so much these past few days. If it weren’t for the war, I definitely would’ve come earlier to help you."
"Some things aren’t within your power to help with."
"What can’t I help you with?"
"Having children!"
"Ha-ha... If you manage to get pregnant, I’ll bear the labor for you." Tong Airui laughed, holding her hand as they returned to the ward.
Empress Haotian noticed the couple coming in laughing and felt relieved. She asked with a smile, "Can your father and I leave the hospital early?"
"We’ll be discharged first thing tomorrow morning." Yi Luowa smiled, sitting down beside her mother. "What do you and Dad want to eat? Tonight, we’ll eat together."
"Just give us anything." Emperor Haotian laughed. "The doctor’s been restricting my diet—no rich meat dishes. But right now, I really want some crystal pork knuckles and a bottle of Volga. That’d be perfection."
Yi Luowa made a face. "Forget it! Later, I’ll have them make some baby bok choy for you."
Emperor Haotian laughed. "You can tell she’s my own daughter. Look how much she cares for me!"
Empress Haotian chuckled. "Only a true daughter would be this attentive to you!"
Yi Luowa went out to arrange dinner, and before long, a table full of delicious dishes was delivered to the ward. She and Tong Airui helped the old couple out of bed. After all these days, as Luowa had said, it was their first proper family meal together.
Afterward, Yi Luowa supported her mother as they strolled around the ward while Tong Airui sat and chatted casually with her father on the sofa.
Emperor Haotian looked at his son-in-law and said, "Without Luowa at home, with you being so busy, now that you’re here, you’ve lost quite a bit of weight." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Tong Airui glanced at his wife, who nodded back at him, and he smiled, saying, "We recently went to war with R Country. After the battle, there’s been plenty of post-war issues to handle; I haven’t had much rest."
Emperor Haotian furrowed his brow slightly. "You fought R Country? Was it them stirring up trouble again?"
"Yes." Yi Luowa supported her mother and joined the conversation. "They tried to take advantage of our difficulties by launching a surprise attack. Thankfully, with Tong Airui and Prince Just helping, the alliance between our three nations crushed them. Fang Yao Continent will never have R Country again."
Emperor Haotian exchanged glances with his wife. "You’ve been busy with all this and carried such a heavy burden by yourself, and you didn’t say a word!"
Empress Haotian tightly held her daughter’s hand. "Luowa, you mentioned earlier that they tried to attack us during our difficulties. What was the crisis we were facing?"
Tong Airui glanced at his mother-in-law. Clever minds really are clever—give her the faintest clue, and she’ll infer even more.
Emperor Haotian said in a deep voice, "They must’ve heard about us being sick and thought that Haotian was leaderless. Who would’ve imagined we had such a capable daughter? After all these years of their scheming, they’ve finally been eliminated! It’s truly satisfying!"
Empress Haotian shook her head in disapproval. "It certainly wasn’t just because of that."
