Chapter 711: Chapter 600: Really Want to Lean on a Shoulder for a While (Third Update)

"Sigh... talking about it only brings tears. Hanging up was the right choice." Kou’er picked up a tissue and wiped her face. "Stop crying, or your eyes will swell. If the Queen Haotian notices, it’ll be hard to explain."

Yi Luowa sniffled. "I wish I had a shoulder to lean on for a while."

Dapeng patted his shoulder. "You can borrow mine!"

Kou’er chuckled and said, "If Sister Luowa really leans on your shoulder, aren’t you worried your Fourth Brother would dislocate it for you? If she’s going to lean, it should be on mine."

As she spoke, Kou’er patted her own shoulder. Yi Luowa, looking deeply sorrowful, rested her head against her shoulder.

The rest of the way, Yi Luowa didn’t utter another word. Her heart felt as though it was being cooked in oil. Her parents were ill, her younger brother’s whereabouts unknown, the two children at home, and that man who cried in secret—all of it played in her mind like an unending movie.

In her eyes, Tong Airui was like a god. Since when had he ever cried? When had he ever become so unkempt?

Yi Luowa’s brows began to furrow. These were still just matters of the heart. There were still greater issues awaiting her—great disasters and foreign invaders! She had no choice but to endure!

At 7:50, the car arrived at the hospital entrance. Yi Luowa stepped out of the car and instantly transformed into someone else. At that moment, she was a warrior full of fighting spirit, ready to continue her struggle for her nation and her family!

Yuan Hang led a group to escort her into the lobby. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of someone leaning against a column on the right. That person was tilting his head, watching her.

Yuan Hang frowned slightly and whispered, "Luowa, do you know that person over there?"

Yi Luowa followed his gaze. Joel! What was he doing here?

Joel smiled at her. Yi Luowa paused briefly. She didn’t like this person, but he was her mother’s friend, so she couldn’t ignore him.

"Mr. Joel, is there something you need here?"

As if worried about being suspected, Joel didn’t approach and stayed where he was. "We came hoping to see your mother, but we were denied access. I wouldn’t give up, so I came again. This time it’s even worse—I couldn’t even get inside the lobby."

Yi Luowa curved her lips into a shallow smile. "Thank you all for your thoughtfulness. My mother is recovering well. Once she returns to the palace, I will invite you all over for a visit. However, today, I’m afraid you won’t get to see her. This is, after all, a royal hospital, so entry restrictions are strictly enforced."

Joel nodded with a smile. "I understand. You must be tired after just getting back. Go ahead inside. I should be leaving now too."

Yi Luowa smiled and entered the lobby with Yuan Hang and his team.

Joel hadn’t lied—the lobby was indeed full of royal guards. Seeing the princess return, they quickly stood to attention and saluted.

Yi Luowa entered the elevator and turned to Kou’er. "Are my eyes still red?"

"A bit red, but under lighting tonight, it shouldn’t be noticeable."

Yi Luowa sighed softly.

The elevator reached the third floor, and Yi Luowa quickly stepped out.

Marcus came up to greet her. "Princess, you’ve worked hard!"

"You’ve worked hard too."

Marcus glanced in the direction of Queen Haotian’s ward and lowered his voice. "The Queen is throwing a tantrum right now."

Yi Luowa froze. "What’s wrong?"

"I tweaked her phone settings; it can only receive and dial your calls, but nothing else..."

Yi Luowa chuckled. "She didn’t scold you, did she?"

"If you hadn’t come back, I’d soon be under fire too."

"Then I’ll go take a look. We’ll meet at the temporary command center in an hour."

"Understood."

Yi Luowa hastened to the ward door and gently pushed it open.

"Randy, check your phone—is it acting the same as mine?"

"My phone was confiscated by Marcus ages ago. I can’t even get it back."

"Marcus is really something. Just watch how I deal with him later!"

"And how exactly will you deal with him?" Yi Luowa cheerfully asked from the doorway.

"Luowa!" Queen Haotian looked joyfully at her daughter.

Yi Luowa walked over with a smile. "Mom, you’re recovering well! Your energy is stronger than mine!"

Queen Haotian feigned anger. "I told you not to come, and yet here you are again."

"I’ve gotten enough sleep, and I can’t sleep at home anyway." Yi Luowa smiled at her father. "How’s your blood pressure?"

"Dropped quite a bit—our high pressure is now 200!"

Yi Luowa sighed inwardly. It had dropped, yes, but it was still high!

She studied her father and mother, noticing her mother still holding her phone, and quickly took it away. "This room is full of medical equipment; keeping your phone on all the time is not a good idea!"

"No phone, no internet—I feel like I’m completely disconnected from the world." Queen Haotian frowned slightly. "I know you’re all doing this for my wellbeing... Luowa, rest assured. No matter if Danton comes back or not, your father and I will stay strong."

"Mom, Dad, don’t overthink things; focus on recovering. Danton will definitely come back!"

"Better if he doesn’t come back. If he does, I’ll break his legs so he won’t dare run off again!" Queen Haotian said, pulling her daughter close. "It’s only been a few days, and you’ve already grown thinner!"

Yi Luowa grinned foolishly. "I’ve slimmed down in the right places and still have meat where I should. I’ve finally returned to my pre-pregnancy figure!"

Emperor Randy looked at his daughter, smiling warmly. "My daughter is beautiful no matter if she’s slim or not!"

"Right, Mom? See how eloquent Dad is." Yi Luowa pulled up a chair and sat by the bed, laughing. "Mom, Dad, quickly get better. Once you recover, I’ll bring Ziyan and Sangyu here to keep you company."

"Sigh... missing the kids, aren’t you?" Queen Haotian looked at her daughter apologetically.

Yi Luowa smiled. "When I’m busy, I don’t miss them. It’s only when I’m still that it hits me. I was just on a video call with them earlier—both little ones are doing great. I thought they wouldn’t miss me since my mother-in-law has cared for them more than me since they were born."

"No matter how much, children always stick closest to their own mother... Randy, we really need to recover quickly, or we might miss them sick ourselves."

Emperor Randy chuckled. "You’re absolutely right. Quick recovery—I’ll focus on thinking only about my two grandkids. That should speed things up!"

Yi Luowa suppressed a laugh. "Once you recover, we’ll bring them here."

Emperor Randy nodded with a smile.

Queen Haotian hesitated and then asked, "Airui and your in-laws don’t have any issues with you, do they?"

"No, why would they have issues with me?"

"Good to hear. You’re their daughter-in-law. Staying at your parents’ home for too long might not sit well with anyone."

"Mom, don’t overthink. I’m the type who eats and doesn’t meddle; whether I’m there or not makes no difference."

"You lucked out with a good mother-in-law!"

"And I married a great husband!"

Queen Haotian looked at her daughter and laughed. "Airui treats you so well; you really ought to treat him well too."

Yi Luowa giggled. "I’ll serve him on bended knee from now on! That should suffice, right?"

Emperor Randy immediately objected. "Our family doesn’t kneel for anyone! You’re my daughter, Randy’s daughter, the noble Princess Haotian!"

Queen Haotian rolled her eyes slightly. "Tell me, isn’t your dad silly?"

Yi Luowa nodded with a grin. "Silly!"

"How am I silly?" Emperor Randy puffed his cheeks in mock indignation.

Queen Haotian, dismissing him, turned to her daughter. "Luowa, tomorrow, have someone bring Ziyan and Sangyu’s photos to me."

Yi Luowa suppressed a laugh and nodded. "Will do. Is there anything else you want brought over?"

"I’ll let you know when I remember... But why are you pinching my hand!" Queen Haotian irritably turned to Emperor Randy.

Emperor Randy huffed. "I can’t reach Luowa, but if I could, I’d give her a smack. You two treat me as if I’m invisible—the supposed head of this family!"

Yi Luowa immediately extended her hand toward him, past her mother. "Go ahead—if it’ll help you vent."

Queen Haotian glared at Emperor Randy. "If you dare lay a finger on my daughter, I’ll never forgive you!"

Emperor Randy smiled sheepishly. "See? Look how you glare at me. You two can joke all you want, but I can’t even have a little fun?"

Queen Haotian retracted her hand and lightly slapped his hand instead, laughing.

Marcus had been standing at the door for a while. Seeing how happily the family conversed, he hadn’t had the heart to interrupt.

But given new developments elsewhere, he had no choice but to speak up. "...Princess, is your phone turned off? Duke Airui’s call was forwarded to me earlier."

Yi Luowa immediately understood the unspoken meaning behind Marcus’s words. She quickly stood up. "Electronic devices aren’t allowed in the ward—they interfere with the equipment. I turned off my phone before coming in. Please let him know to wait for me—I’ll be out shortly."

Yi Luowa turned back to her parents and smiled. "Mom, Dad, you rest up now. He tends to ramble during calls, so I might not come back soon."

"Go ahead, don’t worry about us," Queen Haotian waved dismissively.

Yi Luowa responded and left the ward, heading with Marcus toward the operations command room.

In the command room, there were over thirty officers with ranks of Major General and above. Upon seeing Yi Luowa enter, they swiftly put down what they were doing and stood up.

"Salute!" The generals raised their right hands in perfect unison.

Yi Luowa raised her hand slightly. "Thank you for your hard work! Everyone, be seated!"

Once everyone sat down, Yi Luowa turned to Marcus. "Marcus, tell me the situation."
