Chapter 600: Chapter 515 Let’s Live Like This (First Update)

"Found anything?" Yi Luowa leaned over.

"Not yet. Waiting for data analysis. I need to locate the account first, then I can proceed to the next step. Don’t worry, I will definitely figure it out."

"Honey, you’re the best!" Yi Luowa showered him with praise without hesitation, then reached for a water cup to pour water for him and Mi Chenshuo.

Tong Airui shot a smug glance at Mi Chenshuo, his expression seemingly saying: "Look at my wife!"

Mi Chenshuo curled his lips, "Show-off!"

"I have every reason to show off!"

"Are you implying I don’t?"

Yi Luowa glanced at both of them suspiciously and handed each their cup of water.

"Darling, I’m helping Third Brother out with something, and he’s bullying me!" Tong Airui tapped the keyboard a few times and started to complain to Yi Luowa like a child.

Mi Chenshuo rolled his eyes and snapped, "Don’t play the victim here! If you hadn’t provoked me, would I have said anything? And one more thing—you better get this straight: you’re helping out your Third Sister-in-law, not me. This favor is hers, not mine!"

"You’re less and less like an older brother!" Tong Airui shot Mi Chenshuo a disdainful look.

"Third Brother, how is Mianmian living over in Beidi? She must have gotten used to it by now, right?" Yi Luowa hurriedly changed the subject, fearing they’d continue bickering.

"She’s loving it! Now, even if I wanted to bring her back, I couldn’t. Joyina’s parents spoil her to no end. I wanted her to come home for the New Year, but she said she wants to spend it with her grandparents and even tried to convince Joyina and me to visit Beidi."

Yi Luowa chuckled, "She’s already trying to convince you two?"

"Exactly! Kids these days are too smart—they know everything. Just wait until your two grow up; you’ll understand."

"The way you put it, now I’m really looking forward to them growing up."

"Your two are sharp; you can already tell. My mom mentioned how young they are but can already recognize emotions in faces."

"They’ve been able to do that for a while," Tong Airui said, arrogantly again. "Now, as soon as Luowa speaks, they can immediately find her."

"You’re making me itch to go home and see them now."

"Why not head home now?" Tong Airui raised his eyebrows slightly, hinting slyly that if Mi Chenshuo left, he might benefit from fewer interruptions.

"I’ll wait until you find the results. I’m curious to know where this money came from."

Tong Airui pursed his lips and sped up his typing on the keyboard.

Half an hour later, Tong Airui exhaled deeply, "Got it! The money was transferred from Haotian’s private hospital."

"Private hospital?" Yi Luowa frowned slightly, "Why would they transfer money to Ke Jingran’s brother?"

"We’ll know once we investigate," Tong Airui picked up the phone. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Half an hour later, a reply came back.

"Fourth Lord, this hospital has been shut down for illegal organ trafficking."

Tong Airui froze, "When was it shut down?"

"Immediately after they transferred five million to Ke Jingran’s brother’s account. The perpetrators are still in prison. If you need further investigation, I can head to the police station for inquiries."

"Who’s overseeing Haotian’s police?"

"Su Ting."

"No need to investigate then. He’s my mom’s student; I’ll ask him directly."

Tong Airui hung up the subordinate’s call and then dialed Su Ting. Hearing that it was his teacher’s son asking for help, Su Ting readily agreed.

"I suspect Ke Jingran’s brother signed an organ donation agreement," Mi Chenshuo said gravely after Tong Airui hung up.

Yi Luowa shook her head disapprovingly, "A cancer patient—how many usable organs could he possibly have? Also, without receiving organs, they wouldn’t pay out such a large amount all at once."

Mi Chenshuo thought for a moment and nodded. "You’re making sense."

Tong Airui pinched the bridge of his nose. "Let’s see what Inspector Su has to say."

As the three chatted, they waited for Su Ting’s call. Forty minutes later, the phone rang.

"Airui, hurry up. I’ve reviewed the case files and interviewed the involved parties. There is indeed an organ transfer agreement with Ke Jingde."

"What did he transfer that was worth this much?"

"His head."

"His head?"

"Yes. If the police hadn’t caught the criminal gang that day, they would’ve taken Ke Jingde back to Haotian."

"What do they need a head for?" Tong Airui asked in confusion.

"Head transplant surgery."

"Head transplant surgery..." Tong Airui repeated the phrase, recalling he had heard of it before—though not of any successful instances.

Su Ting hesitated before continuing, "Fourth Lord, this five million is dirty money."

Tong Airui frowned slightly, "Check the breach-of-contract penalties. Deduct those, and I’ll make them return the remainder."

Su Ting’s lips twitched. "Fourth Lord, just leave it. Let’s pretend we didn’t find this person."

Tong Airui chuckled softly. "I was just joking. The person asking me to handle this would never touch a penny of this money if he knew its origins. Give me an account, and I’ll have him send it back to you."

"Fourth Lord... You’re too considerate."

"No need to be polite. I might need a favor from you in the future."

After a few courteous exchanges, Tong Airui hung up.

"Third Brother, Ke Jingran is your man; you talk to him about this."

"Okay, I’ll tell him later. His brother went to such extremes for him; this is bound to knock Ke Jingran out of sorts for a while."

Tong Airui sighed softly without adding anything further.

Mi Chenxuan quickly informed Ke Jingran of the situation. On learning the truth, Ke Jingran’s whole body trembled in pain. If not for Joyina constantly comforting him, he might’ve passed out again.

Once Ke Jingran regained composure, he transferred the money back to the Haotian police department’s account. He refused to keep even a cent of his brother’s blood money.

After learning how the matter had been handled, Mi Chenshuo skipped lunch at Shen Ying HQ and went straight home. He had spent so much time on set lately, he genuinely missed his family.

As soon as Mi Chenshuo stepped in, he saw three little ones sitting side by side on the couch. He laughed loudly, "Since when did these little ones learn to sit?"

"Just now," Tong Yao answered with a smile.

"Fourth Brother and Luowa don’t know yet, right? Should we send them a video?"

"Not yet—let’s surprise them when they’re back! Your uncle doesn’t know either."

Mi Chenshuo smiled and nodded.

Yan Zi noticed that only her son had returned and worriedly asked, "Shuoshuo, where’s Joyina? Why did you come back alone?"

"She’ll come back after finishing arrangements there," Mi Chenshuo replied with a grin. "Mom, how about I stay home and help with the kids for a few days? You can go to the set and guide the actors."

Yan Zi frowned and asked, "Did you two have a fight?"

"Mom, what are you thinking? Do we look like we could argue?"

"I’m asking Joyina to confirm." Yan Zi pretended to grab her phone.

Mi Chenshuo didn’t stop her. He plopped down on the carpet to play with the three kids.

Yan Zi glanced at him and set the phone down.

Mi Chenxuan raised an eyebrow and teased, "Why aren’t you calling anymore?"

"If there were any issues, you wouldn’t be so cheerful."

"You know me too well!"

Mother and son chatted for a while, then Joyina returned.

Mi Chenshuo was startled, "You’re back so early?"

Joyina puckered her lips, "Ke Jingran took two days off to visit his hometown. He said it’s the only place he feels closer to his brother. It’s so pitiful, I let him go."

"Good call, he needs to heal from this. He’ll move on eventually." Mi Chenshuo patted her hand. "Don’t let it get to you—come see the three little ones; they’ve learned to sit."

Mi Chenshuo picked up Ziyan from his mother’s arms and placed him on the couch to show Joyina.

Ziyan leaned against the couch, shaking a rattle enthusiastically.

Joyina gaped, "Oh my goodness! We’ve only been gone a few days, and they’ve already learned to sit!"

"All three can sit now." Mi Chenshuo grew playful, placing all three kids on the couch in a row and making them hold each other’s tiny hands.

Sangyu kicked her small feet excitedly as her hands were held by her brothers.

"They’re too precocious! The assistant director told me that kids usually sit at around seven months. Pengpeng’s timing is normal, but Sangyu and Ziyan are way ahead."

"Giggling..." Sangyu scrunched her nose and burst into laughter. Her adorably sweet expression was instantly captured by Mi Chenshuo’s phone.

Mi Chenshuo chuckled, "Whenever I see Sangyu, I’m overwhelmed with her cuteness. Joyina, look at these photos every day—you’ll want to make more just like her."

"Alright! After this shoot wraps, I’ll give you a daughter just like Sangyu." Joyina agreed readily.

Yan Zi exchanged a knowing smile with Tong Yao, both clearly delighted.
