Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 520 - 447: With Them, You Forgot About Me (Another Update)
"There have been five dismemberment cases in total, all happening in the capital. To avoid causing public panic, we haven’t disclosed them to the public."
Tong Yao abruptly stood up. "This is outrageous! I’m heading over immediately."
Anjilu quickly said, "Teacher, please eat first. I’ll have a car sent to pick you up."
"No need to send for me—I’ll go myself." Tong Yao rushed out in a hurry.
Yi Luowa quickly chased after her. "Mom, at least eat something before you go."
"With such a major case, I can’t waste time eating. I’ll grab a coat and head off right away."
"Mom, I’ll get it for you." Connie came running over with a bag of snacks. "Here, take these to eat on the way."
Tong Yao took the snacks and said with a smile, "Good thing I’ve got two wonderful daughters-in-law, or else I’d have gone hungry." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Tong Aino glanced at his brother. "We didn’t even move, yet Mom finds fault with us."
Tong Airui laughed. "Then why don’t you represent me and go see Mom off?"
Lady Jing Ya got up with a chuckle. "Let’s all go. Whenever there’s news of a big case like this, I get jittery. Once your mom heads out, who knows when she’ll be back?"
The group followed Lady Jing Ya out the door.
Tong Yao looked at everyone and smiled. "This kind of scene hasn’t happened in a long time."
Tong Airui grinned. "Mom, should we put on a show where we grab your legs, cry, and scream to stop you from leaving?"
"Get lost!" Tong Yao glared at her son with a smile. "Take care of the kids, look after your grandparents, and if your dad comes back, make sure to keep him in good spirits."
Tong Airui gave a playful nod. "Alright, got it all memorized."
"Mom, here’s your coat." Connie handed the coat to Tong Yao. "If you can’t come back for a while, just give us a call, and we’ll bring more clothes to you."
"We’ll see how things go, but maybe I’ll be back later tonight." Tong Yao turned to Mi Chenshuo. "You two stay put for the day. Later, I’ll call your mom on the way, ask her and your dad to come stay here for a few days."
Mi Chenshuo quickly replied, "Aunt, you head off. I’ll call my mom and dad and ask them to come over tonight."
"That works too. I’m leaving now." Tong Yao glanced upstairs, wondering what the two little ones were up to. She found herself a bit reluctant to leave.
Yi Luowa noticed her mother-in-law’s hesitation and smiled. "Mom, I can take good care of the two of them. Don’t worry and focus on your work."
Tong Yao smiled, patting her hand, and got into the car with Mengjie.
The family watched as her car disappeared through the main gate before heading back to the dining room.
Tong Aino took a few bites of food, finding it tasteless, and looked up at his brother, who was eating calmly. "Brother, maybe you should help Anjilu. Mom isn’t young anymore. If she has to pull a couple of all-nighters, what if she gets sick?"
"I can’t overstep my authority. Besides, my people aren’t suited for solving cases." Tong Airui set his chopsticks down. "Regardless of whether the case is solved quickly or not, Mom won’t stay at the precinct for long."
Tong Aino smirked slightly. "That’s true. If Dad finds out Mom is helping solve cases again, he’ll have his ways of bringing her back."
"Sis-in-law, you were sitting next to Mom earlier. Did you hear what kind of case it is?" Connie leaned closer to Yi Luowa.
"Let’s talk after everyone finishes eating. If I tell you now, I’m afraid no one will have any appetite left." Yi Luowa glanced at her bowl, which still had half a bowl of rice, and winked at Tong Airui. "Wasting food is shameful. Why don’t you eat the rest for me?"
"Why did you eat so little?" Tong Airui gave her a look. "If something as minor as this disgusts you so much, what would happen if you went to the battlefield and saw corpses everywhere? Could you survive?"
"Let me take my time to recover." Yi Luowa pushed the bowl toward him.
Tong Aino sat nearby, watching the amusing interaction, curious to see if his brother would really eat the leftovers.
"If you’re hungry, let me know—I’ll make noodles for you." Tong Airui picked up the bowl she’d pushed over and finished the rice in three quick bites.
Tong Aino’s lips twitched. For someone who hated letting others touch his water cup, eating someone’s leftovers was a big improvement!
After everyone finished eating, Yi Luowa recounted what she’d overheard about the case.
"Five dismemberment cases!" Joyina widened her eyes. "Murdering people and then dismembering them? That’s way too cruel!"
Connie huddled closer to Tong Aino in fear, and he held her hand, realizing it was ice-cold.
Yu pursed her lips. "If I ran into the killer, I’d dismember him myself!"
Lady Jing Ya looked a bit nervous as she turned to Prince Charles. "You went to visit Kaikai earlier. Do you know what time they’re off work today?"
"They should already be off now." Prince Charles patted her hand gently. "Don’t worry too much. Che’er has arranged people to stay by their sides."
