Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 507 - 437 Someone Snitched (Third Update)
You sniffed and said, "Left arm gunshot wound. When I got there, he was already injured, but he didn’t even remove the bullet and kept tracking the target."
Yi Luowa frowned and asked, "And now? The bullet’s been taken out, right? Just hearing it makes me feel the pain."
"It’s been removed. The wound is a bit inflamed. Sis, don’t mention this to everyone, so they don’t worry."
Yi Luowa nodded, "I won’t say anything. You go call Lao Ba and tell him to rest early upstairs. I’ll go get you some medicine."
Just as the two sisters were about to leave, Yi Luowa suddenly turned her head to look at Youyou behind her, "What about you? Are you hurt?"
Youyou shook her head, "I’m not."
Yi Luowa grabbed her arm and said, "Look me in the eyes and say that again."
Youyou stared into Yi Luowa’s eyes firmly, "I really am not."
Yi Luowa let out a long breath and released Youyou, "I’ll believe you this time."
Youyou pressed her lips and smiled.
Yi Luowa went upstairs to get the ointment and avoided everyone’s eyes as she went up to the third floor.
Mi Chenxuan had just been pulled upstairs by Youyou, still complaining, "It’s rare for the family to gather like this, why did you pull me up here!"
"Don’t you know your own condition?" Youyou glared at him and carefully helped him take off his jacket, "My sister will bring ointment later. I’ll apply it for you, so you can recover quickly. Otherwise, what about the wedding?"
Mi Chenxuan laughed and rubbed her head, "Being injured has its benefits."
"?"
"Getting hurt helps you grow up fast. Look at how mature you are now, you’re even lecturing me."
Youyou pouted, "My growth has nothing to do with you. I learned from my sister."
"Haha... Seeing your little face now makes me want to bite you. Come, hand your face over willingly."
Standing outside the door, Yi Luowa twitched the corner of her mouth, "Save the biting for later. I’m coming in."
Youyou turned her head towards Yi Luowa, "Sis, he’s always bullying me."
"If he bullies you, bully him back!" Yi Luowa frowned and walked in, "Xuan, let me see your wound."
"Fourth Sister-in-law, my arm’s long fine; it’s Youyou who’s making a big fuss." Mi Chenxuan chuckled, "Don’t tell my fourth brother—I’ve embarrassed myself enough this time. If he finds out I got hurt, it’ll be even more humiliating."
"If you know it’s humiliating, then train your skills!" Tong Airui suddenly appeared at the door, "Take off your shirt and let me see."
Mi Chenxuan slapped his forehead hard, "Why’d you follow me up here!"
"My wife sneaked over here like a thief. Shouldn’t I come and see what’s up?" Tong Airui curled his lips and walked in, "This time, I underestimated them. I didn’t expect the other side to be so strong..."
Mi Chenxuan lowered his head in shame, "The enemy wasn’t that strong; I was too weak and lacked practical experience."
Tong Airui said in a deep voice, "So, you need more training in the future. But I hope you can protect yourself better. If you keep coming back injured, I’ll have to consider making you change careers."
"Don’t! I promise to protect myself." Mi Chenxuan chuckled, "Fourth Brother, didn’t you reach the position you’re in today with blood and sweat too?"
Tong Airui shot him a sidelong glance and ripped open his sleeve.
Mi Chenxuan winced, "That was a perfectly good shirt..."
"Shut up!" Tong Airui glared at him, "Youyou, go get me a pair of scissors."
While Youyou ran to get scissors, Yi Luowa turned and closed the bedroom door.
Tong Airui quickly removed the bandage on Mi Chenxuan’s arm. Yi Luowa leaned over to inspect the wound on his arm. Though it had been treated, the surrounding area still showed signs of infection.
Tong Airui frowned slightly, "How many days was the bullet left in?"
"Two days. I was in too much of a rush. That bastard kept slipping through my fingers over and over again. I didn’t even have time to remove the bullet. This time, I bragged big and said I’d be back in three days, but look at the result..."
"Everyone makes errors in judgment sometimes. I made mistakes this time too. But that’s nothing—learn from it and consider it a tuition fee for growing up." Tong Airui grabbed the ointment and applied it to Mi Chenxuan’s wound, "After applying the medicine tonight, if there’s no improvement, go to the hospital tomorrow to avoid delays."
"Got it. Fourth Brother, has that person talked yet?"
Tong Airui glanced at him, "Your mission is completed. Don’t worry about the rest."
Mi Chenxuan nodded, "Understood."
"Don’t wrap the wound. Just be careful while sleeping." Tong Airui patted his shoulder, "Rest early."
"Alright, you should rest early too. You probably haven’t slept well these past few days." Mi Chenxuan smiled and saw Tong Airui out the door.
As soon as Tong Airui stepped out, he placed his arm around Yi Luowa’s shoulder, "Were you planning to keep this from me if I hadn’t come?"
Yi Luowa pouted, "What’s there to hide from you? I was going to tell you sooner or later. You need to have your ego kept in check—things have gone too smoothly for you these years. If you don’t face some setbacks, you might get too full of yourself."
Tong Airui pinched her cheek, "Do you think I’d get full of myself?"
"You’re already quite arrogant!" Yi Luowa twisted his waist out of spite, "Have some humility, Airui Duke!"
"Alright, I’ll be humble. From now on, I’ll low-profile myself while staying high-profile in my work," Tong Airui chuckled, "Your dad took our son and daughter with him. What do we do now?"
Yi Luowa dazzled her bright eyes, "Care to work out with me?"
"Sure—I’ll work out with you on the bed," Tong Airui teased.
Yi Luowa laughed and kicked him, "Run laps with me, or we could go to the upstairs gym. I need to shed some weight; otherwise, I won’t look good in my dress."
"What dress?" Tong Airui asked jokingly.
Yi Luowa frowned slightly, "Lao Ba and Youyou’s wedding. Are you going to stop me from attending too?"
"If you go, what about the kids?" Tong Airui saw the sour look on her face and chuckled, "How about this—you attend, and I’ll stay home to watch the kids."
Yi Luowa pouted, "What about Shanshan—will she go?"
Tong Airui shook his head, "She’s not going."
Yi Luowa pouted deeper, glanced at him sideways, "Then you stay home with the kids; I’ll go in your place."
Tong Airui laughed, "Alright, I’d love to stay home with the kids."
Yi Luowa smiled wryly, pulling Tong Airui upstairs to the fourth floor, "Whether I go or not, I still need to lose weight. Husband, is Lao Wu’s wedding going to be on Laiwang Island too?"
"Lao Wu doesn’t seem to want to go," Tong Airui replied.
Yi Luowa snickered, "Good. If they don’t go, I won’t have any excuses not to attend their wedding."
Tong Airui chuckled, thinking how sensible his wife was. She wasn’t unreasonable; she’d understand things as long as they were explained to her.
The couple worked out for an hour in the gym, drenched in sweat as they came downstairs to the second floor and found their mom standing by the door.
Yi Luowa walked over quickly, "Mom, why are you standing here?"
Tong Yao smiled and opened the door, "I was waiting for you two. The little ones still haven’t slept. Come in and play with them for a while."
"I’m covered in sweat," Yi Luowa hesitated, looking at her damp clothes.
"Then go change. These little ones won’t sleep for another half hour," Tong Yao suggested.
Yi Luowa peeked into the room, noticing her dad standing by the bed, teasing the little ones. Her heart warmed as she pulled Tong Airui back to their room.
The two took quick showers and then joined Tong Yao’s room. Long Che saw them arrive and grinned, "Your mom’s been nagging me, saying I deprived you of bonding time with the kids. From now on, if the little ones aren’t asleep, you two need to come and accompany them."
Tong Airui joked, "We’re lucky enough to barge in this time; otherwise, your room’s usually off-limits because of the kids."
Long Che shot his son a sharp glance, "Always joking around! I keep the kids here for a reason. The house has too many people, and everyone loves these two kids. But I’m worried some fool might pull a stunt like Youyou and sneak them away. That’d be a disaster!"
Yi Luowa kissed her daughter’s little hand, smiling at Long Che, "Dad, I feel safest with the kids here. Still, you and mom work too hard."
Long Che laughed, "At our age, we sleep little anyway. Watching them keeps the nights from dragging on—hardly feels like work."
"This arrangement works well. It’s beneficial on multiple levels," Tong Airui said as he carefully picked up his son, "Your mom always says dad’s biased. Today, I’ll hold you first."
Ziyan seemed unimpressed, turning his head toward his mom. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Yi Luowa chuckled at her son, "Let your dad hold you for a while; it’s rare."
Long Che came over, adjusted how his son was being held, "Hold him like this—neither of you will feel tired."
Tong Airui smiled at his son, "Your grandpa’s got experience. Does this feel better now?"
Ziyan grunted indifferently.
Just as the little one grunted, Long Che released a heavy sigh, "You’re way too bold! You grab anyone and everyone. If this mess escalates, how will you deal with it?"
Tong Airui paused, then smirked at his father, "Nothing happened, so there’s nothing to deal with."
Long Che stared coldly, "Are you sure nothing happened?"
Tong Airui nodded confidently, "This time, six people were involved in the covert capture, including Lao Ba. None of them know who they caught. Only my uncles, Er Bo and Qi Bo, are privy, and I suspect they both informed you."
