Chapter 493: Chapter 426: A Bowl of Water Balanced (Second Update)

"Weiyang, let me say something." Tong Yao walked over. "Huo Li compromises too much with you, and that’s why you overlook her. This isn’t right! You two are husband and wife, the closest people in the world. Huo Li has no family in this world, only you. If you don’t think about her, can she ever find happiness?"

Yi Weiyang sighed. "Tong Yao, to be honest, sometimes I do feel that I’m pretty selfish. But it’s not that I haven’t considered Huo Li. Her assets—I’ve always been managing them separately for her. That money, she couldn’t spend it all even in several lifetimes."

Tong Yao glanced at him. "Ultimately, in your heart, Luowa holds a much heavier weight than Huo Li. I understand what you’re feeling; Luowa was raised by you and feels like your own child. But you also have to consider, in a family like ours, would we ever mistreat Luowa?"

"Second Uncle, I don’t ask for much from you. All I ask is that you treat me and Huo Li equally. She’s my only good friend; her happiness makes me happy too."

Yi Luowa tightly grasped Yi Weiyang’s hand. "Normally, I wouldn’t dare say these things to you; I’m afraid you’d scold me. But these days, I know you won’t scold me. So, starting now, I’ll keep nagging you every day until you’ve figured it out. Then, I’ll shut up."

Before Yi Weiyang could say anything, Huo Li walked in with reddened eyes. "Piggy Luowa, I heard everything you just said. Stop pressuring your Second Uncle; he’s not as indifferent toward me as you think... He’s truly been very good to me!"

"You! Ugh..." Yi Luowa furrowed her brows and let out a groan. With that groan, beads of sweat instantly appeared on her forehead.

Tong Airui quickly pressed the pain relief pump. "Wifey, you need to rest now. We’ll talk about this with Second Uncle once you’re feeling better."

"I’m so mad..." Yi Luowa glared at Huo Li, grumbling. "Take your old man and leave. I don’t want to see either of you."

"Luowa... Whatever you say, your Second Uncle will agree to it. Your health is more important than anything else." Yi Weiyang saw how much pain she was in and quickly relented.

Yi Luowa turned her face away, refusing to look at him. "What good is agreeing with me if you haven’t figured it out yourself?"

"I’ve figured it out. I’ve figured it all out."

"What exactly have you figured out?" Yi Luowa pouted unhappily.

"You and Huo Li are the closest people to me in this world, and I should treat both of you equally."

Yi Luowa let out a long sigh. "I just said those exact words earlier! You’re just trying to dismiss me."

"True, you said it, but I thought it too." Yi Weiyang moved into her line of sight. "Luowa, don’t get worked up. Focus on recovering."

Yi Luowa gave him a glance. "Really?"

"Really!" Yi Weiyang nodded sincerely.

Yi Luowa sniffled. "Second Uncle, you said this in front of everyone, so you can’t go back on your word."

"I won’t go back on my word!"

A trace of a smile finally appeared on Yi Luowa’s face.

The sky gradually brightened, and members of the large family came one after another to visit Yi Luowa and the two little babies.

As everyone chatted, one of You Jia’s attendants entered and whispered a few words into You Jia’s ear.

After listening, You Jia slightly furrowed his brows.

Teng Ai Ni glanced over. "What’s wrong?"

"Dad and Mom are already on the plane."

Teng Ai Ni pursed her lips. "See? I told you not to tell them, but you had to. Now that they know I’m pregnant, can I even stay here any longer?"

You Jia shook his head innocently. "I didn’t tell them."

Teng Tianxiang snorted. "I told them."

"Grandpa~" Teng Ai Ni wrinkled her nose in dissatisfaction.

Teng Tianxiang flared his nostrils and snorted again. "My granddaughter is pregnant, and her own parents are nowhere to be found. I had no choice but to inform your in-laws so they could come take care of you. Besides, you’re carrying that Carpenter family child, one that’s theirs. If they don’t react, they’ll have to answer to me!"

Teng Ai Ni stared at her grandpa wordlessly.

"Don’t look at me like that! Anyway, I’ve already said it."

Tong Yao sighed. "Dad, how could I not care about my own daughter? We were all resting last night, so I planned to head over to see Ni’er this morning. But before I could, you all rushed here."

"Don’t give me excuses! You and Long Che have been so fixated on your grandchildren that you’ve neglected my granddaughter. If you don’t care about Ni’er, I do!" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

The whole room fell silent, looking at the stubborn old man. Everyone knew his temperament; arguing further would only prompt him to say something even more outlandish.

Carlos and Clarissa arrived that afternoon. Tong Yao wanted to go home to entertain them, but Long Che adamantly refused to leave. Eventually, Tong Aino and You Jia had to go to the airport to pick them up and bring them to the hospital.

Carlos laughed the whole way. His son was nearly thirty, and finally, there was a child. How could he not be overjoyed?

Long Che, seeing him arrive, proudly showed off his grandson and granddaughter.

Carlos was immensely envious. The two babies looked like they’d stepped right out of a painting.

"Ai Ni, we must aim for children like these!" Carlos joked with his daughter-in-law.

Teng Ai Ni replied, laughing, "Dad, if we can’t manage that, don’t be disappointed."

"Why would I be disappointed? After waiting for so many years, someone finally calls me Grandpa; I’m thrilled!" Carlos said with a beam. "By the way, this baby count—is this one?"

You Jia chuckled. "Just one. We just had an ultrasound this morning."

Carlos paused slightly. "We can take our time having more children. Haha..."

"We’ll have more too, so you’ll never catch up in this lifetime! Haha..." Long Che laughed heartily as he cradled Xiao Sangyu.

Tong Yao and Clarissa exchanged a helpless glance.

Clarissa tugged on Tong Yao’s hand and led her into the next room. She smiled as she spoke, "Tong Yao, it seems like you’ll be pretty busy in the coming days. I’d like to take Ai Ni back home to recuperate during her pregnancy; you wouldn’t mind, would you?"

"If you don’t bring her back, I’d suggest it. I’m truly afraid I won’t be able to take proper care of her. If anything were to happen, I wouldn’t be able to answer to you and the rest of your family," Tong Yao replied with a helpless smile.

"We’re thinking alike," Clarissa said with a smile. "Rest assured, I’ll take excellent care of Ai Ni. You just wait to hold your grandson!"

The two in-laws reached a mutual agreement. Eventually, Teng Ai Ni stayed until Yi Luowa was discharged, then followed her in-laws back to S Country.

After being discharged, Yi Luowa recovered quickly. Every night, Tong Airui applied scar ointment for her. The scar on her stomach had already faded significantly.

Since the day Yi Luowa gave birth, Tong Airui began his "paternity leave." Now, Fourth Master focused on only two things: taking care of his wife and sneaking cuddles with the babies.

The couple’s happiest moments were the hours between Long Che leaving for work and coming home later.

As soon as Dad stepped out the door, they would rush to the nursery. Each would hold a baby and saunter around the room.

Not only did they look forward to Long Che going to work, but so did everyone else at home. Because when Long Che was at home, no one else had a chance to cradle Xiao Sangyu and Xiao Ziyan.

Since the babies were born, their little bottoms hardly touched their bed except for sleeping. Every waking moment, there was a line of people waiting eagerly to hold them.

The two babies brought endless joy to the family and changed many habits—including Long Che’s.

Long Che’s bed had always been sacred territory, meant for no one except his wife. Yet, for the two munchkins, that rule was null and void. Not only were they allowed on Grandpa’s bed, but they could even pee on it! Each time they did, Uncle Che would be unreasonably thrilled.

For these little ones, Long Che once again considered retiring. If it hadn’t been for Muta’s repeated heart-to-heart conversations, he would’ve stepped down from his current role long ago.

To express his gratitude to his old friend, Muta held a month-old banquet for the two babies in the royal palace. The number of attendees exceeded even those who attended Tong Airui and Yi Luowa’s engagement party.

During the banquet, Muta officially granted titles to the two little ones, making them Dukes of the Aldridge family.

After the banquet, the Prime Minister of R Country extended an invitation to Long Che, asking him to visit for diplomatic purposes.

Long Che hesitated but ultimately agreed.

After returning home, Long Che discussed the matter with Tong Airui.

Tong Airui was momentarily stunned. "After the banquet, I received an invitation too, but the planned visit date is after yours... Dad, if we visit R Country one after the other, it’s bound to raise suspicion. What exactly are they plotting?"

Long Che raised an eyebrow slightly. "Did you accept?"

Tong Airui shook his head. "I used work commitments as an excuse to indefinitely postpone the visit."

Long Che tapped the table lightly. "They’ve been acting particularly reckless lately; I suspect they’re up to something. I’ll go take a look; you stay put."

"Alright. Although I’ve been home lately, I’ve been closely monitoring external affairs. A few days ago, I sent people out to investigate. I expect we’ll receive their report soon."

Long Che glanced at his son. "What progress have you made on Haotian’s matters?"
