Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 464 - 401: Reshuffling the Deck (One More)
"Xia Nansheng," Yi Luowa said timidly, glancing at Long Che.
Long Che’s forehead veins throbbed furiously. "From an ordinary House Soldier, he worked his way up step by step, and yet he couldn’t hold himself together? It seems I still failed in teaching them properly."
"Long Che, don’t get too worked up, you’ll harm your health." Tong Yao grasped his hand tightly.
"I’m not worked up! What am I worked up about!" Long Che gritted his teeth, turning to Tong Airui. "A thorough cleanup is necessary! When this matter is over, schedule a meeting for me with all the active House Soldiers. Those who can do the job should do it well, and those who can’t should leave immediately. Stop disgracing the Aldrich family!"
Tong Airui nodded. "Aside from Xia Nansheng, none of the House Soldiers were involved in this incident. Holding a meeting would still be good, to sound out a warning."
Long Che paused for a moment. "After the meeting, you will officially take over Laisi Island. It’ll make unified management much more convenient for you."
Tong Airui froze. "Dad, I’m still young; managing those uncles and elders might be inappropriate. Don’t lose faith in them because of one rotten fish."
Long Che shook his head. "It’s not inappropriate. When I took over the House Soldiers, I was younger than you. It’s decided! When using people in the future, make sure to use discerning eyes!"
Tong Airui glanced at his mother, who nodded in affirmation, and finally agreed.
"Is Xiang Zhen a problem?" Long Che asked gravely.
"He’s a huge problem. Gao Can was forced to his death by him. He’s the connecting figure Yi Luowa was talking about." Tong Airui picked up his teacup and walked over to the water dispenser. "He’s already been restrained."
"You must have noticed his issues much earlier. Why didn’t you act?"
"If I touched him, Muta DaDa would’ve had thoughts about me. I can’t confront Muta DaDa head-on like you can. I’ve had to endure until now—finally, it’s all surfaced. Cleaning it up all at once is actually better. Colin looked into it; they didn’t dare to spend the stolen money. Except for Ruan Dawang’s 10+ million, all the other funds are recoverable."
Long Che rubbed his forehead. "If they’d dared to spend it, the matter would’ve been exposed sooner!"
"Dad, Yi Luowa told me we should cover the 10+ million ourselves. As the captain, I bear undeniable responsibility for such a significant mistake by a subordinate."
Long Che raised his gaze toward his son. "A little financial sacrifice is appropriate."
Tong Airui laughed. "Your daughter-in-law certainly knows her stuff."
Long Che smiled with gratification. "You two are much more mature than I’d imagined. Leaving this family in your care eases my mind!"
"Dad, what’s that supposed to mean?!" Tong Airui was startled. "You’re only in your fifties; don’t even think about retiring! I can barely manage things on my end as it is, and now you want to hand over the family to me?"
Long Che massaged his temples. "I was thinking, once Yi Luowa gives birth, I’ll retire. I and your mother will help you raise the children. My original plan after retirement was to travel the world with your mom, but I’ve made a small adjustment – now, we’ll take both kids out to explore. The family, well, you two can handle."
Tong Airui gave his father a deep look before extending his hand toward Yi Luowa.
Long Che’s eyes widened in alarm. "What are you doing?!"
"We’re going to the hospital with Yi Luowa – we haven’t even had the baby yet!" Tong Airui shot Yi Luowa a knowing look.
Yi Luowa stood up, holding her belly.
"You little rascal! You’re out of line!" Long Che barked at his son, turning to his daughter-in-law. "Don’t listen to him—sit down."
Yi Luowa smiled. "Dad, I won’t listen to him. I know you’ve always had a dream of traveling the world with Mom. Back when Tong Airui and the others were young, you couldn’t leave. Later, your position within the nation kept you even more tied down. But if Muta DaDa can release you, I support your idea. As for the child, I can raise it myself. As for the family, I can assist Tong Airui in managing it well. You and Mom have worked hard for half your lives; you deserve to take it easy now."
Hearing his daughter-in-law’s words, Long Che’s mood brightened considerably. "The family’s easier to handle; it’s mainly your Muta DaDa that..."
"Buzz, buzz..." Tong Airui’s phone vibrated.
Tong Airui glanced at the phone and chuckled. "Speak of the devil—I’ll go take this call."
Tong Airui left the room and headed straight for Colin’s office, where he briefed Muta on the investigation results.
Muta wasn’t in much better spirits than Long Che after hearing the report.
Tong Airui could tell Muta was upset, but he didn’t intend to let him off easily. "Uncle Muta, this incident has had a big impact on my father. He’s planning to retire and travel the world with my mom."
Muta exploded. "How can he be so fragile! Out of tens of thousands of Aldrich House Soldiers, there’s only this one rotten egg, and he’s ready to retire over it?!"
