Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 438 - 382: You Said No One Would Die! (Third Update)
Tong Airui laughed, "I told you doing it too often makes it harder to get pregnant!"
Tong Aino frowned slightly, "Hell, he must be a quack! Without hard work and sowing, how would there be kids."
Tong Airui chuckled, "If you don’t believe me, that’s fine."
"I believe him, my foot!" Tong Aino pursed her lips, "You and my sister-in-law stay in the back courtyard, but remember to come home on the weekend, or Dad will throw a fit again."
"Got it."
The brothers chatted for a while before Tong Airui went up to the study on the third floor, selecting a few military books to pack into his suitcase.
The next day, the two went to the estate and spent the night there before returning to the back courtyard.
As soon as they entered, Mi Chenxuan and a few of the gang ran over. Mi Chenxuan shouted, "Fourth sister-in-law, we’re eating here tonight."
Yi Luowa smiled, "What do you guys want to eat? I’ll send someone to buy it."
"We already bought the stuff; we just need to borrow the place." Mi Chenxuan shook the bags in his hand with a grin, "Tonight’s barbecue night."
Tong Airui glanced outside and saw Xiao Yuer and Xiao Luozai dragging the barbecue grills in.
"No drinking!"
"Fourth brother, don’t worry. We won’t drink." Mi Chenxuan carried the bags into the kitchen.
"Can you eat this?" Tong Airui turned to look at Yi Luowa.
Yi Luowa laughed, "I love it! If you don’t eat it, I’ll ask them to bring you dinner instead."
"Occasionally eating that stuff is fine."
"So that’s a yes!" Yi Luowa laughed, rolled up her sleeves, and went into the kitchen, "What needs prepping? I’ll do it."
Tong Airui frowned slightly, "Let Lao Ba and the others handle it; you just wait to enjoy the meal."
"I better move a little, or I’ll end up asleep again soon." Yi Luowa turned back to him and said, "You rest upstairs; I’ll call you when it’s ready."
Tong Airui didn’t move or say anything.
Mi Chenxuan pouted and looked at him, "Fourth sister-in-law, go out, or we won’t be allowed to come here anymore."
"Why’s that!" Yi Luowa reached into the cupboard to grab a few bowls to hold the ingredients later.
"My fourth brother feels bad for you, doesn’t want you to do any work. If we keep being oblivious, he won’t let us come back! Go relax; it’s all prepped; we just need to portion it out." Mi Chenxuan said as he pushed Yi Luowa out.
Yi Luowa pouted, "Rarely want to lend a hand, but I’m not needed."
"Not needed indeed. Just sit and wait for the ready-made meal." Tong Airui laughed and rubbed her head.
Mi Chenxuan grinned wide; he hit the jackpot with his flattery this time.
Tong Airui glanced sideways at him, "Lao Ba, Yuan Hang and Kou’er went out to play; you’ll be sticking with me for the next few days."
Mi Chenxuan crinkled his nose, "Fourth Brother, why not have Dapeng tag along with you."
Tong Airui shot him a cold look, "I said you’re coming with me! Don’t think I don’t know what you’ve been up to these days. If I don’t keep an eye on you, you’ll keep sneaking home every night—it’s exhausting, isn’t it."
Dapeng burst out laughing, "Fourth Brother, weren’t you tired of sneaking home every night back then?"
Tong Airui pointed a finger at him, "You’ve been corrupted by them too!"
Dapeng hummed a little tune and got busy.
Mi Chenxuan said miserably, "Fourth Brother, I’m not going home; I’m scared Youyou will get upset."
"Whether she gets upset depends on your effort. Back when I didn’t go home, did your fourth sister-in-law ever cause any fuss?"
Mi Chenxuan rolled his eyes at him, "Oh, stop talking. You’ve never refused to go home since coming to Conglai Island!"
Tong Airui raised his hand to give him a light slap, "Did you forget how many days I spent at the border?"
Mi Chenxuan rubbed his head, "No matter what, you’ll always win the argument. I might as well stop talking... By the way, Fourth Brother, did you have Ling interrogated already?"
"She’s been kept at the base ever since, but we just got word from there—Ling is starting to break down and confessed to something. Turns out, since my return from Haotian, she’s made three attempts to sneak into Conglai Island planning to assassinate me."
"No wonder I couldn’t get Youyou to spill anything these past few days. She wanted to kill you—that’s grounds for capital punishment."
Tong Airui chuckled, "Looks like my luck is pretty solid. She plotted three times but couldn’t pull it off."
Mi Chenxuan hesitated, "Fourth Brother, what are you planning to do with her?"
"Out of respect for Youyou, Ling can’t be killed. Keep her detained at the base."
Mi Chenxuan let out a long sigh of relief, "Thanks, Fourth Brother. I was really scared you’d deal with Ling. If Youyou found out Ling died at our hands—with her single-minded personality—she’d be ready to fight us to the death."
"You’ve got to guide her the right way. You can’t just let her play around every day."
Mi Chenxuan shook his head helplessly, "Youyou has been stationed at the base for twenty years. To truly bring her back to normal civilian life, I reckon I’ll need forty years."
"If you really put your heart into it, there’s nothing you can’t achieve..." Tong Airui was in the middle of lecturing his younger brother when the sound of soft snoring came from behind him. The Fourth Master turned around to see Yi Luowa curled up on the sofa, fast asleep! In just a couple of minutes, she had fallen deeply asleep.
Tong Airui chuckled helplessly, walked over to the sofa, and gently picked her up.
Yi Luowa nuzzled into his arms and mumbled dreamily, "Call me when it’s time to eat..."
Tong Airui laughed angrily, "Even asleep, you’re still thinking about food."
Lately, Yi Luowa had been sleeping more and more, leaving the Fourth Master puzzled. At work, he called Lao Dao into his office.
After hearing the description, Lao Dao smiled, "Captain, Yi Gong’s love for sleep might be due to one of two things: either she’s pregnant, or you’ve been too intense, not letting her rest at night."
Tong Airui frowned slightly, "Can you be serious for a moment! My wife can’t be pregnant, and I haven’t been bothering her much these nights. I’m thinking it might be due to thickened blood..."
Lao Dao laughed, "Captain, don’t make me laugh. Yi Gong is so young, and she’s far from overweight. Thickened blood doesn’t seem likely. Tell you what—if you’re worried, bring her over to me for a physical exam; I’ll do a blood test."
"I’ll find some time to take her over."
After work, Tong Airui mentioned this to Yi Luowa. Yi Luowa pouted and harrumphed, "I’m not going. Blood draws hurt! I’ve been analyzing why I love sleeping lately—ever since the big competition, I haven’t rested well, and you haven’t let me recover from all your late-night adventures. I’m still adjusting."
"Wife, your adjustment period is dragging on too long! It’s been over a month since we came back from Laiwang Island." Tong Airui gripped her hand and said worriedly, "Just go to get checked. If everything’s fine, I’ll feel more at ease at work."
Yi Luowa pouted and took forever to decide before finally nodding.
The next day, Tong Airui took Yi Luowa to see Lao Dao.
For Yi Luowa, it was her first time at the military hospital. Looking at the small three-story white building, she chuckled, "I thought it’d be just a small clinic; it’s actually quite sizable."
"With thousands of people in the compound, a small clinic wouldn’t be enough for everyone." Tong Airui held her hand and led her straight to the second floor.
Before they reached Lao Dao’s office, Ruan Jiajia pushed open the door to her own office and stepped out.
Ruan Jiajia hesitated for a moment upon seeing them, blushed, and greeted, "Captain..."
Tong Airui didn’t even glance at her. He responded with an "Mm," and took Yi Luowa into Lao Dao’s office.
Ruan Jiajia clenched her fingers tightly, then glanced down the empty corridor and quietly approached Lao Dao’s door.
"Yi Gong, besides loving sleep, do you feel any other discomfort?" Lao Dao asked with a grin.
Yi Luowa shook her head, "Nope. I eat and sleep great, even enjoy my meals." Lao Dao chuckled, "Yi Gong, when was your last period?"
Yi Luowa froze for a moment and looked up at Tong Airui.
Tong Airui ruffled her hair, "September 12th!"
Yi Luowa laughed awkwardly, "I forgot; good thing you remembered."
Lao Dao frowned slightly, "What’s today’s date?"
Tong Airui paused at the question, "October 27th... Wife, you’re two weeks late!"
Yi Luowa froze, "That can’t be right!"
Lao Dao shook his head helplessly, "Captain, when you mentioned her the first time, I already suspected this. But you insisted it couldn’t be. Let’s do a urine test first."
Yi Luowa pursed her lips, "My periods haven’t been very regular these past few months—they usually get delayed by five to seven days. I really don’t think I’m pregnant."
Tong Airui squeezed her hand softly, "It’s not impossible—there was one time we didn’t use..." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Yi Luowa’s face turned instantly dark, "Tong Airui! You said it wouldn’t cause any trouble!"
Tong Airui stared innocently at his little wife, "Maybe not! Let’s go do the test first."
Ruan Jiajia heard footsteps outside and quickly hid in the office next door.
