Chapter 386: Chapter 339: So What If We Meet Again? (Second Update)

Early the next morning, when Yi Luowa woke up, she discovered that Tong Airui was not beside her. She got dressed, walked out of the room, and saw no sign of Tong Airui downstairs. She ran up to the third floor.

Just as she was about to knock on the study door, she heard a noise from Mi Chenshuo’s room. She turned her head and saw Mi Chenshuo pushing Joyina out by her arm.

Joyina pouted. "What are you so mad about? I didn’t know you were changing clothes. Besides, I didn’t even see anything..."

Before she could finish, Mi Chenshuo slammed the door shut with a loud "bang."

Yi Luowa blinked at Joyina.

Joyina blinked back and said, "I’m off to wash my face."

"Go ahead." Yi Luowa smiled and reached out to knock on the door.

Tong Airui opened the door. "Come in, Dad’s here too."

"Morning, Dad~" Yi Luowa greeted Long Che with a cheerful smile as he sat at the desk.

"Morning." Long Che smiled lovingly at Yi Luowa and then turned to his son. "Just let me know once you’ve caught the person, and handle the rest yourself. I’ll head downstairs to take a look."

After seeing Long Che out, Yi Luowa looked at Tong Airui suspiciously. "They still haven’t been caught?"

Tong Airui nodded. "No, but they’re already in my trap. That You is indeed tricky. They managed to evade Yuan Hang for a good three or four hours without getting caught."

Yi Luowa looked at his bloodshot eyes and asked with concern, "Did you stay up all night?"

"I was worried Yuan Hang and the others might slip up, so I kept watch the whole time." Tong Airui patted her on the head. "Don’t worry, I’m taking the day off work today. Once I catch her, I’ll get some rest."

Yi Luowa pursed her lips. "Husband, where’s Old Eight?"

Tong Airui laughed. "You’re always so sharp!"

Yi Luowa, seeing that he got her point, smiled and said, "I still feel like she wouldn’t hurt Old Eight. You can release Old Eight without worry. She might even come out of hiding on her own."

"Honestly, I’ve considered that approach too. I just don’t want to give in to her wishes so quickly. What’s she trying to achieve with all this trouble? Just to see Old Eight? But even if she sees him, then what? What kind of good outcome could happen between Old Eight and an assassin?"

Yi Luowa gently touched his cheek with concern. "Let’s catch her first. Otherwise, as long as she’s not caught, you won’t have any peace. If you keep pushing yourself like this, I’m worried your health won’t hold up."

"Okay." Tong Airui nodded, picked up the phone, and called the instructor at the Black Cliff Base. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Just a second before the call connected, Yi Luowa opened the door and stepped out. That base had always been a secret; it was best for her to limit her involvement.

Yi Luowa went back to her room downstairs, freshened up, and headed to the first floor.

Tong Yao saw her coming down and asked with a smile, "Don’t you have class in the afternoon? Why are you up so early?"

Yi Luowa smiled. "I couldn’t sleep."

"Luowa, have you called Ni Lu in the past few days?"

"Two days ago. Auntie Ni Lu’s recovery is going well. She was clamoring to come see me, but Uncle Jack persuaded her to wait until after Old Seven’s wedding before letting her come to stay with us." Yi Luowa glanced discreetly at Long Che, who was reading the newspaper, and whispered to Tong Yao, "Mom, when Auntie Ni Lu comes, can I stay somewhere else with her for a few days?"

"Just stay at home." Long Che said without even looking up, "It’s a bit chaotic lately; don’t stay elsewhere."

Yi Luowa smiled. "Alright, I’ll listen to Dad."

After she said that, she mouthed to Tong Yao, "Auntie Ni Lu is scared of Dad. That’s why she hasn’t come to our place yet."

Tong Yao laughed. "Your dad isn’t going to eat her. What’s there to be afraid of? When I see her, I’ll talk to her."

Long Che glanced at the two of them. "If she weren’t afraid of anyone, she’d already be in the heavens."

Tong Aino came downstairs, grinning. "Who’s going to the heavens?"

Long Che glared at his son. "When are you heading to Laman?"

"I was thinking, after Old Seven’s wedding..." Tong Aino noticed his father’s face darken instantly and quickly said, "Whenever you say, I’ll go."

"Kaikai will come over after the wedding feast there. Ni’er and your sister will come too."

"Then I won’t leave. It’s rare for the house to be this lively."

Long Che raised an eyebrow slightly and lowered his gaze back to the newspaper.

Tong Aino let out a long sigh of relief. "Sister-in-law, any news from my brother’s side?"

"Not yet, but it’s just a matter of time. They’ll catch the person sooner or later."

"I hope they hurry up. Then our family can lift this first-level preparedness." Tong Aino glanced upstairs. "I’ve never seen someone take this long. I’ve been down here for half a day, and she’s still taking her sweet time."

Yi Luowa laughed. "You deserve to be despised!"

"What did I do to deserve that?"

"When she’s not around, you’re all confident. But the moment she shows up, you change your face completely."

Tong Aino grinned and gestured toward Long Che. "Learned it from him. He’s the role model in this house."

Tong Yao nudged him. "Don’t go looking for trouble. You’ll get scolded again in a bit."

Long Che, still not looking up, said, "Scolding him is being lenient. I’d rather hit him. Shaotian hasn’t seen him for a few days, and he’s already bungled a deal. When will he ever grow up? He’s so worrisome!"

Tong Aino scratched his head. "It wasn’t completely ruined. I lost my temper yesterday, but today Connie’s handling it."

Long Che glanced at him. "Are you even a man? Why do you always let a woman step in?"

"Dad, in your eyes, I stopped being a man long ago. In this house, the only one who gets your approval is my brother." Tong Aino, afraid his dad would hit him, darted into the dining room before finishing his sentence.

Long Che put down the newspaper and stood up. "If you want my approval, learn from your brother. Has your brother ever made me worry? And you—every day you can’t even walk straight without someone holding your hand."

Connie, standing on the second-floor hallway, heard Long Che’s words. She pressed her lips tightly and quickly walked downstairs.

Yi Luowa noticed Connie coming down and stuck her tongue out at her playfully.

Connie smiled and walked up to them. "Dad, what happened yesterday wasn’t all Fifth Brother’s fault. The other party’s terms were too harsh, and their attitude was extremely aggressive. I managed to contact their vice chairman last night, and today I’ll meet with them to discuss further."

Long Che frowned slightly. "Aggressive attitude? They’re playing hardball with us? Forget the deal!"

"Dad, I did a preliminary calculation. If we take on this project, we can make at least two billion this year. It’d be a pity to give it up. Let me give it a shot today." Connie looked at Long Che, hoping he’d give her a chance.

Long Che didn’t respond immediately. Tong Yao frowned. "Who’s the other party?"

"Hao Tian’s Dadu Group..."

"Immediately cease all business dealings with Dadu Group!" Tong Airui walked down briskly. "I just got word that the owner behind Dadu Group is one of Katie’s boy toys. The money Dadu has made in recent years has all gone into war efforts. While Katie is currently under house arrest on the island, multiple sources indicate she’s not as compliant as she appears. I’m afraid Hao Tian might still face upheaval. We can’t be complicit in aiding the enemy."

Long Che looked at him seriously. "Are you sure about this information?"

Tong Airui nodded. "Positive!"

"Connie, cancel all dealings with them immediately." Long Che frowned slightly. "If Hao Tian descends into chaos, Xia Wu will inevitably be implicated. Not only must we sever ties with them, but we should also join forces with other families to impose sanctions, cutting off their economic channels so they can’t gain momentum."

Connie nodded. "I’ll call them shortly."

Tong Aino poked his head out from the dining room. "Looks like I made a major contribution, didn’t I?"

"Eat your food!" Long Che shouted at him, though the corners of his mouth couldn’t help but lift slightly. "This month, I’m giving you an extra five thousand as pocket money."

Connie blushed fiercely, her face flushing all the way to her ears.

"Dad, isn’t five thousand a bit stingy?" Tong Aino laughed as he walked out. "But hey, something is better than nothing. I’ve been so broke these days I don’t even have a coin to my name."

Connie playfully glared at him.

Tong Yao laughed. "Connie has to keep you in check. You’re the biggest spender in this house."

"If everyone were as frugal as you, our family’s money would grow moldy." Tong Aino teased his mom before reaching out to his dad. "You said it, so hand over the money."

Connie smacked his hand away. "You’re an adult, and you’re still asking your dad for money? I just put some in your wallet."

"How much? It’s not another measly one or two thousand, is it?" Tong Aino asked with a pitiful expression.

Long Che glanced at him. "Since Connie gave you some, I’ll save mine. Rui’er, how’s the situation on your end?"

"Old Eight is heading to the smaller base. If You doesn’t show up once he gets there, we’ll resolve it by force. I’ll head over after breakfast."

Long Che nodded. "Make it quick, then."

Tong Airui finished breakfast and rushed out the door. Yi Luowa watched his car leave the driveway before turning back to the hall.

As soon as she entered, Tong Aino sneakily pulled her outside again.

"What’s up?" Yi Luowa looked at him warily. Whenever he came to her, it was never for anything good.

Tong Aino lowered his voice. "Help me out; lend me some money."

Yi Luowa glanced at Connie standing behind him with a smile before asking, "Alright, how much this time?"

"Seventeen million." Tong Aino scratched his head. "Is that too much? If it is, just lend me enough for the down payment... but then again, I’ve never taken out a loan for a car before. Just lend me the seventeen million."

Yi Luowa smirked mischievously. "No problem. I’ll give you twenty million. But you better hope you survive to spend it."

"What do you mean—Ow! Who’s pulling my ear?" Tong Aino yelped, only to turn and see his dear wife twisting his ear. His face immediately fell. "When did you start eavesdropping?"

Connie pouted angrily. "I didn’t eavesdrop; otherwise, how would I know you’re going around asking for money? I saw you ogling car magazines yesterday, and now it turns out you were actually planning on another car! Go count how many cars you own in the garage—there are at least forty or fifty!"

Yi Luowa sidestepped them with a laugh and walked back into the hall.
