Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 373 - 329: Accidents (Second Update)
To be honest, in Yi Luowa’s eyes, these young actors really weren’t worth a second glance. Mainly because, ever since she met Tong Airui, no man had been able to pique her interest. She came here just to watch the commotion.
Joyina and Connie, on the other hand, seemed quite engaged. They waited for people to finish performing and would then whisper their opinions quietly.
After the male lead was chosen, it quickly transitioned into selecting the female lead. The second actress to come in was Huang Zimeng. When Huang Zimeng saw Yi Luowa, the two exchanged a smile.
Huang Zimeng’s acting was truly impressive—she could cry on demand, laugh on demand, and her movements and expressions were perfectly in sync.
After Huang Zimeng left, Mi Chenshuo poked his head toward the director. "I think she’s pretty good. What do you think?"
"Her performance was spot-on; she’s a great actress!"
Joyina, overhearing how they kept praising Huang Zimeng, pouted unhappily and said, "What’s the big deal? Don’t think that just because I haven’t learned how to act, I can’t deliver the same kind of performance."
Joyina was saying this for Yi Luowa’s ears, but her voice was a bit too loud, and several people ahead turned to look at her.
The director immediately noticed Yi Luowa and nudged Mi Chenshuo’s arm, saying, "Mr. Mi, the girl sitting to the right—her demeanor and appearance align more closely with our female lead."
"She’s out of your league!" Mi Chenshuo gave him a warning glance and said softly, "You’ve been abroad for a long time, so maybe you haven’t been keeping up with the news. Sitting on either side of her are my two sisters-in-law—the two young madams of the Aldrich family."
The director shrank back in fear.
Seeing their voices get quieter and quieter, Joyina assumed they were still complimenting Huang Zimeng. Hands behind her back, she walked over to Mi Chenshuo and said, "I want to compete for the female lead role too."
Mi Chenshuo acted as though he hadn’t heard her and addressed the staff instead: "Next up, auditioning for the second female lead."
"Fine, then I’ll compete for the second female lead!" Joyina said angrily.
"Can you please stop causing trouble!" Mi Chenshuo said with some irritation. "The second female lead is an assassin. You—looking like this—do you even resemble an assassin? SanSi, call in the next auditionee!"
Joyina pursed her lips and tried to keep talking.
Standing behind her, Kou’er caught Yi Luowa’s subtle signal and quickly pulled Joyina back.
Yi Luowa whispered, "If you really want to act, you need to observe how they perform first, and accumulate some experience before you try."
Joyina’s eyes reddened, "Mi Chenshuo looks down on me!"
"He didn’t mean that," Yi Luowa said with a smile, tightening her grip on Joyina’s hand. "Someone’s coming in—look! This one brings assassin vibes naturally."
Joyina glanced at the incoming actress and sneered, "Looks like she has permanent resting face syndrome!"
Connie quickly covered her mouth, "Don’t distract her while she’s performing."
The actress walked in, introduced herself briefly, and without waiting for the director to cue her, she suddenly flung open her jacket with a swift motion. Before anyone could react, she drew two pistols from her waist and executed a forward roll, ending up right in front of the director. Under everyone’s stunned gazes, she raised the guns, pointing them at a spot behind the director.
The director froze for a moment, then laughed aloud, "To convey a scene this well without speaking a single word—now that’s real talent..."
Before the director could finish, there was a loud "Boom!" A smoke bomb exploded in the hall, and in an instant, the entire hall was engulfed in thick smoke.
Yi Luowa was momentarily dazed, but her hand was suddenly grabbed.
"Luowa Sister, don’t say a word—come with me!" Kou’er dragged her away at once.
On the way, Kou’er threw two more smoke bombs. Yi Luowa couldn’t see the path clearly and could only rely on Kou’er to guide her as they ran frantically through the smoke.
Kou’er led her to the stairwell, tossed another smoke bomb down the stairs, then turned and ran upstairs.
"Head to Fifth Master’s place." Kou’er pulled out a pistol and scanned every corner of the corridor with alert eyes. Fortunately, it was work hours, or rushing up like this would’ve surely startled someone into fainting.
Yi Luowa glanced behind her, "Connie and Joyina..."
"They’ll be fine with Qing’er looking after them."
"What about my third brother?"
"Third Master will be fine too. That person came here for you—she had a real gun, and her target was you." Kou’er quickly led her into Tong Aino’s office.
Tong Aino, seeing the two of them barge in, was momentarily surprised, "Sister-in-law, what happened?! Where’s Connie?"
"We’re here... cough, cough..." Connie stumbled in through the door and collapsed onto the sofa.
Joyina rubbed her eyes and forcefully pulled Qing’er’s hand down, "Cough, cough... Qing’er, you hurt me when you grabbed me."
Tong Aino pressed a button under his desk. With a loud "Bang!" the door shut automatically, the curtains closed, and the room instantly went dark.
Tong Aino strode to Connie’s side and urgently asked, "What happened?"
Connie patted her chest, "Cough... I don’t know. As soon as the smoke bomb went off, Qing’er dragged us upstairs."
Tong Aino cracked his knuckles, "And Third Master?"
"SanSi is protecting him—they left the hall to handle the situation downstairs," Qing’er said, wiping away tears caused by the smoke.
Tong Aino pressed his lips tightly together, then turned to his desk and picked up the internal phone. "Yun Jin, take some people down for support!"
"Yes!"
After receiving confirmation, Tong Aino picked up another internal line. "Lock down the entire building!"
"Yes!"
After making arrangements, Tong Aino turned to Yi Luowa, "Should I inform your fourth brother?"
"If something happens here, he’ll find out either way, even if I don’t tell him." Yi Luowa frowned slightly. "Let’s not worry about him for now. You need to reassure the building’s staff first—they mustn’t panic, or there could be accidental casualties."
"Our staff has undergone training—during emergencies, they’re capable of protecting themselves." Tong Aino opened his laptop, clicked a few times, and activated the building’s panoramic surveillance system.
Yi Luowa walked over to the screen and stared at it for a moment. The smoke on the thirty-second floor hadn’t dissipated yet, but the corridors showed no signs of chaos. Yun Jin and Mi SanSi were currently protecting Mi Chenshuo, standing in the corridor on the thirty-second floor, discussing something.
Seeing Mi Chenshuo safe, the two exhaled in relief.
Yi Luowa shifted her gaze to a corner of the screen in the upper right and suddenly shouted, "Aino, there she is!" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Tong Aino immediately zoomed in on that section of the surveillance feed. "It’s the twentieth floor..."
Before Tong Aino could finish speaking, the woman running suddenly collapsed onto the ground.
Tong Aino quickly picked up the internal phone. "The assassin is in the staircase on the twentieth floor—she’s fallen and hasn’t gotten back up."
Yun Jin responded, "Understood," and led the team to the twentieth floor. Tong Aino watched the screen intently, and soon Yun Jin appeared on the monitor.
Yun Jin shouted a warning twice. Seeing that the assassin hadn’t moved, he raised his gun and slowly approached her, aiming at her head.
Yi Luowa gazed suspiciously at the motionless woman on the screen. "Could she be dead?"
"Sir, she’s already dead!" Yun Jin’s words quickly confirmed Yi Luowa’s speculation.
"Sudden death while running?" Tong Aino frowned in disbelief.
Yi Luowa recalled what had happened at the Coastal Base and shook her head. "Not sudden death—likely poisoning. I’ve encountered cases like this before. People in their line of work keep a pill in their mouths and will bite through it to commit suicide if their mission fails."
Tong Aino nodded in acknowledgment, then said in a grave tone, "Yun Jin, secure the scene and report this to the police immediately. Search the entire building thoroughly—if no suspicious persons are found, lift the lockdown."
"Understood!" Yun Jin responded, leaving two subordinates behind while leading the others into the elevator.
Tong Aino turned to Yi Luowa, who looked calm and collected. "I bet my brother will be here shortly. Have you thought about how to deal with him?"
