Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 369 - 326: A Bit Capricious (Part 2)
Yi Luowa glanced at Tong Airui, "Yuan Hang makes it sound like we’ve never had a private moment together."
"We really haven’t had enough." Tong Airui smiled and gently ruffled her hair. "Soon we’ll probably be staying at the rear base for a longer time. By then, it’ll be fine—we’ll get to have our private world every day."
Yi Luowa pouted, "But isn’t there another drill and a major competition planned for the second half of the year? Will you even have time to be with me?"
"I won’t have time for you, but you’ll have time for me."
"What on earth does that mean?"
Tong Airui placed a number candle on the cake and smiled as he spoke, "During the major competition, they’ll deploy a ton of armored vehicles. If any break down, they’ll need repairs, and that’s where someone like you, who knows about vehicles, comes in."
Yi Luowa laughed and looked at him, "I know how to build vehicles, but I never said I can fix them."
"They won’t know whether you can or not. In any case, I’m definitely going to bring you along." Tong Airui smiled and lit the candle. "The plan for the showdown between Shen Ying and the regular army is already finalized, and I’ll leave it up to the team to carry it out. But the three-month contest against Z Nation’s Death God, Soya’s Iron Armor, Raman’s Giant Scorpion, and S Nation’s Dark Fox—I have to personally attend that one because I’m determined to win the Champion’s Trophy this time."
Hearing that so many countries would participate, Yi Luowa felt a surge of excitement. "Who was the champion last time?"
"Shen Ying’s Sharp Blade." Tong Airui’s lips curved slightly. "It happens once every four years. I’ve only participated once, and I walked away with the Champion’s Trophy. None of them were happy about it, so now they’re all itching to get revenge on me."
Yi Luowa spoke with a serious expression, "Then I’m going with you—I have to protect you!"
"No need to protect me. As long as you’re by my side, I’ll undoubtedly win." Tong Airui chuckled. "Wife, let’s not talk about this now. Come make a wish before blowing out the candle."
Yi Luowa nodded, closed her eyes, and silently made a wish in her heart. Then, together with Tong Airui, she blew out the candle.
"Happy birthday, my love!" Tong Airui embraced her and gave her a soft kiss on the cheek.
"Thank you, my dear." Yi Luowa smiled warmly at him.
Tong Airui pulled her down to sit and raised an eyebrow slightly. "What did you wish for?"
"I can’t tell you. If I do, it won’t come true." Yi Luowa pouted and handed him a pair of chopsticks. "Eat quickly, or you’ll starve."
After dinner, the sky had already darkened. Tong Airui suggested going for a walk outside. Yi Luowa, curious about what he had been up to out there, laughed as she followed him out of the car.
Outside, candles formed a giant heart shape on the ground—about half the size of a basketball court. Inside the heart, the ground was covered with fresh flowers.
Yi Luowa was deeply moved. Even though he was so busy, he had gone to such lengths to celebrate her birthday.
Tong Airui embraced her, stepped over the candles, and walked to the center. He picked up a violin from the ground and smiled, saying, "I don’t play the violin very well, but it’s passable."
Was he planning to play the violin for her? Yi Luowa was so touched she felt like crying.
Tong Airui gently patted her cheek, raised the violin, and began playing the birthday song.
The elegant sound of the violin had just begun, and Yi Luowa was completely captivated. She stared intently at the man in front of her, his tall and proud stature seeming more heroic and imposing to her than ever.
Her gaze fell on his long fingers. She wondered what else this man might be capable of. Before she had recovered from the spell of the music, Tong Airui set the violin down and approached her. "I know I’m no virtuoso. To make up for the abuse I caused your ears, fireworks will light up in three seconds."
Yi Luowa’s eyes turned red. "Honey..."
"On a day like today, it’s best not to cry." Tong Airui chuckled indulgently. "No need for thanks. We’re husband and wife. It’s simply my duty."
With a loud "boom," fireworks rose like writhing dragons into the sky, then exploded in a magnificent display. The fireworks spread across the night sky like countless blossoms, each more vibrant and varied than the last.
Tong Airui noticed the joy on her face and smiled as he pulled her into his arms. Yi Luowa nestled against him, and the two gazed upward at the dazzling fireworks in the sky.
"I almost don’t want to disrupt them." Sitting on the edge of the cliff, Mi Chenxuan muttered.
"I don’t want to disturb them either," Joyina said, resting her cheek in her hand as she watched the two below.
"You two were the ones clamoring to come down here, and now you’re the ones reluctant to interrupt them. If you don’t want to bother them, let’s leave and stop freezing out here." Huo Li stood up, visibly annoyed.
"Come on, let’s watch for a bit longer. These fireworks are so beautiful!" Joyina tugged on Huo Li’s sleeve.
"If you want to see fireworks, I’ll light some for you tomorrow. My uncle is home alone, and I’m worried about leaving him," Huo Li said as she lifted Joyina in her arms.
Joyina gave her a disdainful look. "As if nobody realizes you’re dating. You’ve been talking about your uncle non-stop all night."
Mi Chenxuan smirked, "If Huo Li hadn’t kept mentioning it, I would’ve had no idea she’s in a relationship."
Huo Li glared at him, puffing her cheeks. "If you dare make another joke about me, I’ll kick you off this cliff!"
"Go ahead! I’d like to see if you’d actually go through with it." Mi Chenxuan laughed as he stood up. "Let’s head back. If we’re late, my mom will start to worry."
"Didn’t we agree to stay at the manor tonight?" Joyina tilted her head to look at Mi Chenxuan.
Mi Chenxuan scratched his head. "I just didn’t want to inconvenience my second uncle."
"Huo Li is the boss now. We’re bothering her, not your uncle." Joyina giggled and nudged Huo Li playfully. "Huo Li, I’m right, aren’t I?"
Huo Li smiled and replied, "You’re right... or wrong! It’s just for one night; it wouldn’t be a bother."
"Let’s go. We’ll trouble Huo Li for tonight." Just as Mi Chenxuan spoke, he noticed something strange on the opposite mountain ridge. He tried looking more closely but couldn’t figure out what seemed off. His instincts kicked in, and he quickly shielded the two girls behind him.
"Huo Li, call my fourth brother and tell him to immediately return to the car," Mi Chenxuan said urgently. His tone wasn’t loud, but it was enough to send a chill down Huo Li’s spine.
Huo Li nervously pulled out her phone and dialed Tong Airui’s number with trembling hands.
Mi Chenxuan stretched his arms to shield them. "You two must stay behind me and don’t stick your heads out!"
Joyina, far from scared, peeked out and tapped his shoulder curiously. "What’s going on? Don’t frighten me..."
"Bang!" Before Joyina could finish her sentence, a bullet whizzed past her ear.
Joyina shrieked, "Someone’s trying to shoot me!"
Mi Chenxuan shouted, "Get down now!"
Huo Li’s legs gave way, and she immediately dropped to the ground. Joyina, however, stood frozen in place, paralyzed with fear.
Mi Chenxuan grabbed her and pressed her down to the ground. "Damn it, I should’ve never come here. Every time I do, something bad happens! Don’t be scared; just stay down. As long as you stay still, they won’t be able to hurt you. My fourth brother will hear the gunfire and come quickly."
