Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 356 - 317: Would You Die If You Spoke Less? (First Update)
Tong Airui said Mi Chenxuan would come out in two hours, but in the end, they waited for four hours, and the light in the operating room was still on.
After enduring for so long, Tong Airui’s face grew increasingly pale. Yi Luowa stood up, positioned herself in front of him, and held him in her arms. "Lean on me a bit—it’ll make you feel better."
Tong Airui weakly leaned into her embrace. Earlier, the plasma was insufficient, so he had donated 600CC of blood to Mi Chenxuan in two rounds. Fortunately, the blood center later delivered plasma; otherwise, he would have given Xuanxuan all the blood in his body if it came to that.
Tong Yao brought over a blanket for her son and draped it over him, her voice full of worry. "You shouldn’t be so reckless. 400CC is the normal limit for blood donation—you gave 600CC?! Are you trying to throw your life away?"
"Mom—don’t say that. I feel awful." Tong Airui muttered in a muffled voice, "I’d rather be the one lying in there."
Tong Yao sighed softly and patted her son’s shoulder. "Fine, I won’t say anything anymore. How about you go lie down in a patient room for a bit? When Xuanxuan comes out, I’ll call you."
Tong Airui shook his head.
Yi Luowa held him tighter and stroked his back rhythmically. It was the first time she had seen Tong Airui so helpless since knowing him.
Long Che glanced at his son. Back in his younger days, he’d watched comrades fall and had felt this same helplessness his son was now experiencing.
"How did Xuanxuan get injured?" Long Che wanted to talk with his son to ease his tension, but it seemed he’d chosen the wrong topic. As soon as he asked, regret flooded him.
Tong Airui raised his hand and pointed to a subordinate. "Come here, and tell the Prime Minister how Mi Chenxuan ended up injured!"
The subordinate quickly walked over and apologized. "Prime Minister, while we were executing a mission, we encountered an ambush by unidentified criminals. Chen Xuan got injured protecting us."
"Speak the truth!" Tong Airui sneered as he raised his head from Yi Luowa’s embrace.
The subordinate lowered his voice and reported sheepishly, "Prime Minister, it wasn’t criminals—it was one person who ambushed the six of us. And that person was... was just a young girl."
Long Che frowned deeply and scoffed, "You let your guard down just because she was a young girl?"
"Yes! We completely underestimated her. Chen Xuan told us to proceed with the mission while he stayed behind to handle that young girl. Who knew she’d be so formidable and would injure Chen Xuan like this."
"These are the people you’ve trained? Too careless!" Long Che looked at Tong Airui, his displeasure evident. Seeing his wife constantly signaling him with her eyes, he sighed helplessly. "Once Xuanxuan has recovered, I’ll personally give you all a lesson on how brutal war can be. In wartime, even a seven- or eight-year-old child has to be treated with caution. Have you forgotten how your second aunt lost her arm?"
Tong Airui hung his head in shame. His father was right—it was his own failure in training his subordinates well.
He removed the blanket draped over him and stood up. Though his head still felt dizzy, his demeanor was unwavering. "When Mi Chenxuan recovers, all of you will go back to Heiya. If you don’t train yourselves into proper soldiers, don’t even think about stepping out of there again!"
"Yes!" The subordinate cast a fearful glance at him and responded before stepping aside.
Tong Airui turned toward the operating room. "Why is the light still on?!"
His words, as though they were a remote control, triggered the light in the operating room to extinguish just as he finished speaking.
The family of four rushed to the door as Mi Chenxuan was finally wheeled out, though he remained unconscious.
Jimo Shanshan stepped out and addressed everyone immediately. "The surgery was very successful. He’s resilient—he’ll likely wake up by tomorrow morning. However, he’ll need at least two months of recovery before he can rejoin the team." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Long Che looked sorrowfully at his nephew. This child had never been so quiet in his entire life. For once, he was still. But Long Che would rather have him up and arguing than lying motionless in bed.
Tong Yao’s tears flowed uncontrollably as she gazed at the unconscious Mi Chenxuan.
Yi Luowa supported Tong Yao and gently stroked Mi Chenxuan’s thick black hair. "Xuan, get better soon, okay? I’m still waiting for you to play with me."
Tong Airui stared at his brother’s pale face and clenched his fists tightly. This debt—he would not forget! This vengeance—he would see it through!
Mai Zekai dragged his weary body out of the operating room last and stated, "No matter what you say now, he won’t be able to hear it. Let’s focus on moving him to the patient room first."
Yi Luowa helped Tong Yao step back and cleared a path for the nurses.
Mi Chenxuan was transported to the intensive care unit, and Mai Zekai performed another round of checks before exiting the room.
Tong Airui asked in a deep voice, "Will there be any lasting complications?"
