Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 320 - 290: There’s a Mole (Part 2)
"What do you think about today’s incident?" Tong Yao lifted the quilt and helped him onto the bed.
"From that maid to the vegetable delivery guy, and now today’s event, I have a feeling that someone is targeting our family again." Long Che sighed, "I really don’t want you and the kids to live in constant fear with me."
Tong Yao was taken aback, "Do you mean that today’s incident is likely to be deliberate?"
"What kind of car do I have? A flat tire is impossible. I’ve already had all the people who could have contact with those two cars detained. We’ll hear the results first thing in the morning. This is something Rui’er is also investigating."
"We haven’t experienced any great crises before, you shouldn’t worry about us. When the kids were young, we all made it through safely. It’s even less of a concern now they’re older." Tong Yao got into bed with a box of ointment, "Let me apply some more medicine for you."
"The doctor applied this ointment during the treatment." Long Che squinted slightly, "There really aren’t many who dare to take a shot at me. If I find out who it is, I’ll definitely flatten them!"
"Don’t think too much, just rest well, your son will take care of this for you." Tong Yao tucked him in and turned off her bedside lamp.
Long Che smiled, "Wife, how smart do you think the child of Rui’er and Luowa will be? I’m a bit excited already."
"As long as they aren’t like you two, I’ll be satisfied." Tong Yao snorted softly.
"What’s wrong with us? Who can love their wife as much as we do!" Long Che turned off the lamp and pulled her into his arms.
Tong Yao quickly moved away, "Be careful not to touch your wound."
Long Che laughed, "Even with a small injury, I’m still up for eight hundred rounds with you."
Tong Yao looked at him with disdain, "Be obedient and just sleep!" After speaking, she rubbed against him and sat up again.
"Why are you so jumpy?" Long Che lifted his hand and patted her.
"I need to call Rui’er to tell him to have the car checked out before driving it."
Long Che smiled helplessly, "I’ve instructed everything already, just sleep peacefully."
Tong Yao knocked on her own head, "I’m getting old; I’m always a beat slow."
Long Che sympathetically lowered her hand, "A beat slow is good! Anyway, you have someone to take over now, what’s there to fear!"
The successor Long Che mentioned was lying on Huo Li’s bed, chatting away, engrossed in discussing how to design a car with a built-in alarm system.
Even though Huo Li wasn’t keen on studying, she had a lot of ideas and indeed gave Yi Luowa quite a bit of inspiration.
Having almost finished discussing the car, Huo Li kicked Yi Luowa under the blanket, "Your father-in-law had an accident; aren’t you going to call your husband?"
"He definitely knows first, I don’t need to inform him."
"You pig! Really a pig! Not to inform him, but to remind him to be careful on the way back."
Yi Luowa gave her a sidelong glance, "You’re the stupid pig! I’m waiting for him at home. He wouldn’t dare come back unsafely, afraid someone might sleep with his wife or beat his child; without being reminded, he’d be extra cautious."
Huo Li laughed, "Look at how smug you are!"
Yi Luowa wrinkled her nose, "I can only be smug with you. Sigh... I’m actually worried sick about him, but he’s definitely busy now. If I call, he can’t take it. I texted him before I came in, and he hasn’t replied yet, probably didn’t hear it."
Huo Li patted her cheek, "Suddenly, I feel a bit sorry for you. Outsiders only see your glamor, but in such a family, large trees attract wind, troubles are aplenty; how will you manage in the future?"
"I think it’s fine; weathering storms together is what makes a family, don’t worry too much about me." Yi Luowa turned her head towards her, "Huo Li, you’ve changed; you now know how to care for people."
Huo Li rolled her eyes, "I’ve always been like this."
Yi Luowa nodded firmly, "Mm-hmm! You’ve always been like this!"
"Aren’t you going back to sleep?" Huo Li asked with a mischievous grin.
Yi Luowa glanced at the time, "He won’t be back until two; even if I go back, I won’t be able to sleep. Better to have a companion to wait with me until he returns."
Huo Li pinched her arm playfully, "You’re so bad!"
Yi Luowa slightly curled her lips.
The two of them chatted idly for a while longer before Yi Luowa groggily fell asleep.
Huo Li looked at her and shook her head helplessly. She picked up her phone and set the alarm for 1:50 before closing her eyes.
Tong Airui returned at 1:40, but instead of going to his own room, he went straight to Long Che’s door and rang the bell.
Tong Yao came out in her robe and let out a long breath when she saw her son, "You’re finally back!"
"Sorry to make you worry." Tong Airui held his mom’s shoulder and asked with concern, "How’s dad’s injury? Is it really just a scrape?"
Long Che sat up, "Come in! Just like your mom, won’t feel at ease unless you see it yourself!"
Tong Airui helped his mom inside. Long Che lifted the quilt to show him, "How’s the investigation on the tire burst going?"
"All signs point to Bert." Tong Airui chuckled, "They’re trying to force a rift between us and Uncle Mutaw."
Long Che gave his son a deep look, "Seems like the mastermind isn’t just targeting us father and son, but also eyeing the Xiawu. As long as we split from Mutaw, Xiawu will never be stable."
"I’ll definitely root out this insidious guy." Tong Airui glanced at his father, "You’re injured, should we cancel today’s plans?"
Long Che shook his head, "Don’t dampen Luowa’s excitement, nor give the enemy room to speculate. Tomorrow’s plan stays the same. I’ll call Mutaw later and have him and Royce join us."
Tong Yao furrowed her brows slightly, "Is it wise to call Mutaw at this hour?"
"Do you think Mutaw can sleep?" Long Che asked with a smile.
"Ahh..." Tong Yao rubbed her forehead, "Rui’er, you should head back, don’t let Luowa worry."
Tong Airui smiled and left. As soon as he emerged, he found his wife standing at their bedroom door rubbing her eyes.
Tong Airui quickly approached.
Yi Luowa dove into his arms, "You’re finally back, I missed you so much I fell asleep. If Huo Li hadn’t called for me, I’d still be racing with King Yan."
Tong Airui rubbed her head and picked her up at the waist.
"I knew you’d come back safe and sound for me." Yi Luowa hooked her arms around his neck, smiling.
Tong Airui smiled and placed her on the bed, "I saw your message. To prevent anyone from sleeping with my wife or hitting my son, I must live well."
"Saw the message and got mad, hence no reply?" Yi Luowa pouted and tugged his ear.
"When I saw it, it was already midnight. I was afraid replying would wake you." Tong Airui tucked her in, leaned down, and kissed her forehead, "Hurry and get some more sleep."
"What about you?" Yi Luowa grabbed his arm.
Seeing the reluctance in his wife’s eyes, Tong Airui fondly patted her head, "I have a lot of things to handle. Once I’m done, I’ll come back to you."
"Haven’t found the person yet?" Reluctantly letting go, Yi Luowa asked.
"Found him."
"Who?" Yi Luowa perked up immediately.
Tong Airui smiled, "Bert!"
Yi Luowa stared at him, "Do you believe it?"
Tong Airui shook his head, "I know Bert, he wouldn’t hold a grudge against dad over the selection of a concubine."
Yi Luowa blinked, "Not many people know that Bert wanted a concubine, and dad walked away in anger. You can start the investigation from those who know. I also have a bold hypothesis; there might be a mole in the palace."
Tong Airui smiled and patted her cheek, "Sleep, I’ll take care of the rest."
