Chapter 319: Chapter 290: There’s a Mole (Part 1)

Long Che calmly sat down and chatted with Yi Weiyang.

Tong Yao was a bit worried but didn’t dare to show it too obviously. She could only sit by his side, occasionally chiming in with a few words.

It was Yi Luowa who noticed something unusual. When Long Che arrived, he wasn’t wearing this particular suit, and his right hand stayed in his trouser pocket while chatting with Second Uncle. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"Dad, we’ve got to leave early tomorrow morning. You and Second Uncle should rest early and save the conversation for during the drive," Yi Luowa said, glancing at Tong Yao.

Tong Yao quickly agreed, "Luowa’s right. Save some topics to talk about tomorrow during the ride, or you’ll just end up staring blankly at each other."

"Alright, let’s all rest early then," Yi Weiyang said with a smile and nodded.

Huo Li helped him up.

Yi Luowa walked over too. "Second Uncle, let me escort you to your bedroom."

"I’m pretty much like a healthy person now. I don’t need you to help me; everyone should go rest," Yi Weiyang brushed off Huo Li’s hand and went to his bedroom alone.

Yi Luowa turned to look at Long Che. "Dad, you should rest early too."

Long Che smiled and nodded, "You head upstairs first; I’ll follow in a little while."

Yi Luowa pulled Huo Li upstairs. After sending her into her bedroom on the third floor, she whispered, "I’m going downstairs to check on things. I’ll come back to keep you company. If you’re tired, go ahead and sleep first."

"Luowa, has something happened?" Huo Li asked suspiciously.

"I’m not sure yet. I’ll check it out first," Yi Luowa said, hurrying downstairs.

Downstairs, Tong Yao saw Long Che’s right hand, wrapped up like a bundle, and tears streamed down her face, "How could you be so careless! This must hurt terribly!"

Long Che raised his left hand and gently touched her head. "A grown woman still crying like this!"

Yi Luowa stood at the last step of the staircase, watching the two of them, hesitating about whether to approach.

Long Che glanced up at her and said to Tong Yao with a smile, "Don’t cry anymore. The kid might laugh at you if she sees this."

Tong Yao sniffled and turned to Yi Luowa. "Your dad hurt his hand, but it’s just a minor injury—nothing serious. He didn’t want anyone to worry, so he didn’t mention it earlier."

Yi Luowa quickly walked over, squatted down, and stared blankly at Long Che’s hand. "Dad, what happened?"

"The tire burst halfway," Long Che replied casually.

Yi Luowa looked up at him. "Your car is regularly maintained by professionals. How could a tire suddenly burst?"

"We’re still investigating."

Yi Luowa briefly frowned. "Dad, you’re injured in more than one place, aren’t you? Tomorrow, we’re not going anywhere. You need to stay home and recover."

Tong Yao became nervous as soon as she heard this, "You’re scaring me silly! Where else are you hurt?"

Long Che glanced at Yi Luowa; this child was too clever—it was difficult to keep anything from her. "There’s also a scrape on my leg."

"A scrape?" Tong Yao huffed coldly, "I was wondering why there’s such a strong smell of blood on you. Come upstairs with me; let me take a look."

Long Che chuckled, "I cleaned everything up before I came back. It’s really nothing. Tomorrow’s plans remain unchanged. I’ll go out to unwind with you; there’s no need to wait for Rui’er. Let’s all rest early."

Yi Luowa stood up. "Dad, this won’t do. Our position is transparent, while others might be hiding in the shadows. If someone wanted to harm us, we’d be unable to defend ourselves. Regardless of whether this time was an accident or intentional, I’ll design a new car for you. A system where any tampering with a part of the car will trigger an alert at the monitoring center, showing the exact location of the interference."

"Is it complicated?" Tong Yao, intrigued, but worried it might burden her daughter-in-law, asked.

Yi Luowa smiled bashfully. "It’s a little challenging. I had planned to use it as my graduation project, but I later gave up because it was too stressful. But now that my dad had an incident, I feel I must finish it right away."

"If it won’t disrupt your studies or life, go ahead and try," Long Che said with a smile. "Go upstairs and rest. When I had the mishap, Rui’er called me—he said he’d be home at the earliest by two. Don’t wait for him."

"Alright," Yi Luowa nodded and helped Tong Yao escort Long Che upstairs. After seeing him enter the room, she said to Tong Yao, "Mom, check over Dad’s injuries. If it’s serious, call a doctor. Don’t let it worsen."

Tong Yao agreed and comforted her for a few moments before closing the door.

Before his wife could say anything, Long Che started taking off his clothes. "I know you won’t be reassured without looking. It’s really just some scrapes."

Tong Yao gave him an annoyed look but helped him remove his clothes. Seeing that his injuries were indeed only scrapes, she finally relaxed.
