Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 312 - 284: Don’t rush, I think it’s coming soon (second update)
Tong Aino froze. Connie drinks? How come he didn’t know about this!
"If it’s not enough, I’ll go grab more."
Connie pursed her lips. "Let’s start with this and see."
The two exchanged a smile and headed into Tong Aino’s bedroom.
Only then did Tong Airui and Yi Luowa breathe a sigh of relief and turn off the computer.
"Finally tricked them into the room," Yi Luowa said with a laugh.
Tong Airui glanced at her. Seeing she didn’t respond to him, he ruffled her hair and asked, "What are you thinking about?"
"I’m feeling bad for You Jia and Ai Ni. We’re racking our brains to help Aino and Connie, but you guys are laser-focused on You Jia. Have you thought about how desperate you two were back then?"
"I’m not keeping tabs. Even if I did, it’s useless. The two of them wander all over the place—if something were going to happen, it would’ve by now. Don’t be fooled by You Jia’s polished gentleman facade. That guy’s got so many tricks up his sleeve; he could sell us out, and we’d still help him count the cash. If you don’t believe me, just keep watching the surveillance footage. In a bit, You Jia’s definitely going to Ai Ni’s room.
I’m not only acquainted with You Jia the prince, you know. Look at Leon—when has he ever been this busy? You Jia is deliberately creating these little outings just to make Dad and Mom nervous. Now look, Dad’s even agreed to their marriage."
Yi Luowa blinked. "I’d considered that, too. But isn’t he only acting like this because you guys forced him? Also, one thing—you’re wrong. No matter how sly You Jia is, he can’t outfox you!"
Tong Airui shrugged and laughed. "If you feel that way, what can I say? So, should we go back to sleep or go mess with them for a bit?"
"You sneaky devil!" Yi Luowa pinched his ear, then lazily stood up. "I’m going back to sleep. At midnight, make sure to call Tong Aino. He’s scared you twice; this time, give him a little fright back. After all, you’re his older brother—we’ll just have to take the hit."
Tong Airui’s mouth twitched. Take the hit? That’s what she’s calling this!
Watching her climb back into bed bit by bit, Tong Airui couldn’t resist following her up.
Yi Luowa raised her small foot and kicked him. "What are you getting on for? If you fall asleep, how will you make the call?"
"To stay awake, maybe we can... do something?"
Poor Yi Luowa thought she could escape the night unscathed, but in the end, even she got nibbled by the wolf.
Tong Airui, feeling satisfied and holding his pouting little wife who’d fallen asleep in his arms, picked up his phone and dialed Tong Aino.
The phone rang for a long time before it was picked up. On the other end, Connie’s somewhat slurred voice came through: "S-sorry, Tong Aino drank too much. H-he can’t answer your call."
Tong Airui frowned slightly. "Drank too much? Connie, do you even know who I am?"
"...I-I don’t care who you are..."
Tong Airui pressed the phone closer to his ear. He listened for a moment—was that snoring he just heard? How much did those two drink?
Carefully withdrawing his arm, Tong Airui quietly left the room and walked over to Ai Ni’s room, knocking lightly.
Hearing the knock, Ai Ni, nestled in You Jia’s arms, grumbled, "We should leave tomorrow. I can’t handle staying in this house anymore."
You Jia chuckled and planted a kiss on her forehead. "We’ve hardly been back; you should spend more time with Mom and Dad. I’ll check who’s at the door. I wanted to tuck you in and sneak off, but apparently they’re not going to let me off that easy."
Ai Ni, seeing him get out of bed, puffed her cheeks and followed him down.
Looking at the pair emerging from the room, Tong Airui said sternly, "Ai Ni, go check on your fifth brother. Those two drank too much, and with Connie in there, I can’t go in."
Ai Ni glared at him. "You can’t go, but isn’t my sister-in-law also here? If you’re just trying to monitor me, then just say it!"
"Your sister-in-law’s asleep. She has school tomorrow." Tong Airui furrowed his brows and glanced at You Jia. "Behave yourself in this house. Don’t keep sneaking into Ai Ni’s room. Do you think Dad approving your marriage means it’s set in stone? You know better than me what kind of person he is. If he gets mad, he can call off the wedding in a heartbeat."
You Jia smiled mildly. "I understand, Brother."
"Understand, my ass!" Tong Airui scoffed at You Jia, then turned to Ai Ni, pulling her over. "Hurry and check. You know your fifth brother can’t hold his liquor. If something happens, it’ll be too late for regrets."
"Why pretend to be a wine connoisseur when you can’t drink!" Ai Ni grumbled as she stomped over to Tong Aino’s room and tried pushing the door. It wouldn’t budge. She knocked for a while, but still, there was no response. At that, a real wave of panic hit her. She called out tearfully, "Brother, what should we do?"
Tong Airui sighed and walked over. Taking a thin piece of wire from his pocket, he began fiddling with the door lock.
Ai Ni asked curiously, "Brother, why are you carrying a random piece of wire with you?"
"Your sister-in-law has been accidentally locking herself in. I have to be prepared in case she can’t get out."
Speaking with a completely straight face, Tong Airui finished, making Ai Ni burst into laughter. "Nice excuse! From what I hear, my sister-in-law is fed up with you and has been locking you out!"
"Who told you that? Your sister-in-law adores me! Why would she ever lock me out?" Tong Airui pressed down on the handle. "There, it’s open."
Ai Ni pushed the door open and stepped inside. Whoa, the two inside were drunk out of their minds, sprawled out in awkward positions, like fallen soldiers on the battlefield. Judging by their disheveled clothes, they hadn’t behaved themselves earlier.
Putting brute strength to work, Ai Ni scooped up Connie, adjusted her position, and rested her head on the pillow.
Connie tilted her head slightly, muttering, "Fifth brother, let’s drink some more," before falling back into a deep sleep.
Noticing the marks on Connie’s neck, Ai Ni smirked mischievously and quickly stripped Connie’s outer layers.
"Such fools—they really make you worry," Ai Ni muttered, then turned to undress Tong Aino. After repositioning them so they were both neatly arranged, she left the room satisfied.
"Why were you in there so long?" Tong Airui asked worriedly when she emerged. "Are they okay?"
Ai Ni had a mischievous smile on her face. "They’re fine, snoring like pigs. I even stripped them down..."
You Jia frowned slightly. "Ai Ni!"
Ai Ni stuck out her tongue and giggled. "Alright, tomorrow morning, no one’s allowed to wake them up. Haha..."
Tong Airui chuckled and headed back to his room.
You Jia was about to follow when Ai Ni caught his arm, pouting. "I can’t sleep without you."
"Didn’t you hear what your brother said? Just hang in there for a few days. Once we’re back at our own place, I’ll tuck you in every night," You Jia said, patting her head lovingly. "Goodnight, my dear."
"Goodnight." Ai Ni stood on her tiptoes, lightly kissing his lips, before reluctantly heading back to her room.
Now, with all this commotion, how did they not alert Long Che and Tong Yao? Credit goes to Long Che’s impeccable soundproofing.
But just because they didn’t discover anything during the night doesn’t mean they were clueless come morning.
True enough, as the couple stepped out of their room, they immediately heard a startled scream emanating from Tong Aino’s room.
The scream was loud, but it didn’t last long.
Long Che and Tong Yao exchanged a glance. Tong Yao chuckled. "Could it be that your son finally succeeded?"
Long Che’s mouth twitched. How was he supposed to respond to that? His wife’s question left him completely stumped.
