Chapter 311: Chapter 284: Don’t rush, it’s coming soon (first update)

"Nope." Tong Airui smiled, opened his laptop, and after typing a series of letters, the screen quickly displayed the entire scene in the hallway outside.

"Ai Ni went into You Jia’s room." Yi Luowa said playfully with a grin.

Tong Airui frowned slightly, "I’ll wait for Old Five to go in and then pull her out."

Yi Luowa rolled her eyes at him, "They’re not going to do anything, why are you meddling so much!" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"How do you know they’re not doing anything?" Tong Airui shot back, then noticed Yi Luowa looking at him with sheer disdain. Quickly changing his tone, he added, "Alright, fine, I won’t meddle, okay?"

Yi Luowa scrunched her nose, feeling exasperated as she glanced at Tong Aino pacing back and forth in the hallway, "Is Tong Aino really your biological brother?"

"Doesn’t seem like it." Tong Airui shrugged.

"Should we give him a little push?" Yi Luowa nudged him lightly.

"If he hasn’t gone in within a minute, we’ll give him a push."

Yi Luowa nodded, fully focused on watching Tong Aino on the screen, almost tempted to just kick him into the room.

Tong Airui curled his lips slightly into a smile and pulled Yi Luowa into his arms. "Don’t worry. I think he’s almost there."

Tong Aino was completely unaware that his every move was being monitored. After a long internal struggle, he finally pushed open the door and stepped inside.

Connie had just fallen asleep and, thinking it was Ai Ni coming back, mumbled in a daze, "Weren’t you going to find You Jia? Turns out you’re a scaredy-cat too!"

"She really did go." Tong Aino stood beside the bed, his expression slightly complicated as he looked at the person lying there.

Connie was startled awake and sat up abruptly. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to get you. Connie, go back to your room to sleep. If you go back, I can get Ai Ni to come back." Tong Aino said earnestly.

Connie glanced at him, quickly got out of bed. "Alright, I’ll go back. You go and get Ai Ni."

Seeing her rush to leave, Tong Aino reached out and grabbed her arm. "You don’t have to be so scared of me. I was wrong this afternoon. From now on, I promise I’ll never touch you without your permission."

Connie didn’t dare look at him; she lowered her head and said in a voice as soft as a mosquito buzzing, "I-I didn’t blame you. I was just too frightened at the time... Ai Ni said I shouldn’t have gone to an all-girls school."

Tong Aino chuckled and ruffled her hair. "When we have a daughter someday, let’s send her to an all-girls school too."

Connie’s face flushed as she sneaked a glance at him. They hadn’t even taken the first step yet, and he was already talking about children.

Tong Aino took her by the hand and led her to the door. "I’ll walk you back."

"I’ll go back on my own." Connie didn’t know how to face him and kept trying to pull her hand free.

"I’ll walk you." Tong Aino insisted, holding onto her hand tightly as they headed out.

Yi Luowa, watching the two come out on the screen, angrily slapped Tong Airui’s thigh. "Why are they coming out now?"

Tong Airui chuckled, "If it were me, I wouldn’t do that kind of thing in Ai Ni’s room either."

Yi Luowa pursed her lips and pointed at Tong Aino on the screen. "Look at this troublemaker. He doesn’t want something himself, but he won’t let anyone else have peace. He’s knocking on You Jia’s door now."

"Honestly, that’s exactly what I want to do too," Tong Airui muttered under his breath.

Yi Luowa clenched her fists. "If he doesn’t succeed tonight, I’m never helping him again. He’s too infuriating."

Outside, Ai Ni was even angrier than Yi Luowa. She puffed up her cheeks and glared at Tong Aino, "If I ever help you again, I won’t be Ai Ni anymore!"

Tong Aino raised an eyebrow slightly, "I never asked for your help! Go back to bed now, or I’ll go wake Dad!"

You Jia patted Ai Ni on the shoulder. "Be good and head back early to rest."

Ai Ni shot him a discontented look.

You Jia smiled, gently squeezing her shoulder.

Ai Ni got the hint and quickly walked back to her room.

Watching his sister leave and You Jia close the door, Tong Aino suddenly felt his palm grow sweaty as he held Connie’s hand.

Connie shifted uncomfortably, moving her hand. "Fifth Brother, my hand is sweating. Can you let go? Otherwise, your hand will get wet too."

Tong Aino glanced at their hands and smiled. "My hand’s already been sweating. Are you sleepy?"

Connie shook her head.

"I can’t sleep either. Want to go get a drink?"

Connie hesitated. "Everyone’s asleep. Wouldn’t it be bad to go drink downstairs?"

"I brought a bottle of wine up earlier, thinking I’d have a bit if I couldn’t sleep tonight. But drinking alone is really boring. If you want, you can join me. If you don’t, I won’t force you."

Tong Aino spoke sincerely, then let go of Connie’s hand. This was a decision he wanted her to make herself.

Connie tilted her head and looked at him, then smiled and asked, "Is one bottle enough for the two of us to drink?"
