Chapter 293: Chapter 267: Whose Child Is It? (Second Update)_2

Yi Luowa and Tong Airui went to a nearby restaurant, ordered several seafood dishes they both loved, and talked about the person they had just encountered.

Not long after, a call came from the chef, saying that someone had tampered with the rice.

Tong Airui set down the phone and frowned, looking at Yi Luowa. "The rice was tampered with. It seems it’s not aimed solely at the two of us. I’ve been suspecting there might be a spy among my people."

"If there’s something wrong at your base, what about the other camps? You need to be careful." Yi Luowa said, noticing Tong Airui staring at her with a heavy expression. She quickly raised her hands and said, "Fine, I was wrong! I’ll stop meddling in your affairs from now on!"

Tong Airui chuckled and rubbed her head. "Wife, your brain seems a bit wasted only being used to design cars."

"What else can I do?"

"You’re more than qualified to be my strategist!"

Yi Luowa pouted slightly. "I can’t. My field of study doesn’t match. I’ll stick to making cars."

"Suit yourself." Tong Airui smiled, picked up the phone, and called his deputy team leader, instructing him to oversee the investigation personally, thoroughly purge any risks, and eliminate all potential hazards.

After arranging everything, Tong Airui looked at Yi Luowa. "Use that clever brain of yours to help me analyze who might have done this."

Yi Luowa bit into a crab leg, blinked, and said, "Isn’t it obvious? Your enemies, of course! Think about it; when something happens in one of the divisions under Shen Ying, you certainly can’t escape being implicated. But I don’t know who your enemies are, so I can’t figure it out."

"I do have quite a few enemies, and even I’m at a loss right now. I’ll have to wait until that food delivery worker opens up."

Yi Luowa sighed. She had a feeling it wouldn’t be easy to get the delivery worker to talk.

Tong Airui glanced at the time and then tilted his head, asking, "Are you full?"

"Yeah, I’ve been full for a while. I was just staying here longer to spend more time with you." Yi Luowa giggled as she grabbed her bag to go pay the bill.

Tong Airui laughed and asked, "Are you really treating me?"

"Of course! But it’s not exactly me treating you—more like splitting the bill—because half of the money in my bag is yours."

"Your awareness has improved drastically!"

The two joked as they stepped out the door.

On the way back, Yi Luowa gave him a few more reminders, worried he might end up fighting with Old Three over Su Qing and her daughter.

Tong Airui dropped her off at their little home before heading to the airport.

At eight o’clock, Mi Chenshuo’s private jet landed right on time.

Su Qing frowned as she looked at Mi Chenshuo. Mianmian had already fallen asleep, and Mi Chenshuo was carefully holding her. The warmth of the scene nearly brought tears to Su Qing’s eyes.

Mi Chenshuo gently covered Mianmian with a blanket before carrying her off the plane. With Mianmian there, he wasn’t worried Su Qing wouldn’t follow.

Su Qing hesitated briefly before walking down the stairs after him.

Tong Airui sat in the car, tilted his head slightly, and saw Old Three cautiously protecting the child. The sight made him both amused and faintly bitter inside.

As Mi Chenshuo spotted Tong Airui’s car, Tong Airui had already stepped out. The two brothers locked eyes. Mi Chenshuo instinctively tightened his hold on Mianmian.

Tong Airui raised an eyebrow slightly. "If you’re afraid, why did you have to go through with this?"

Mi Chenshuo frowned slightly. "Old Four, no matter what you say today, I’m taking them—mother and daughter—home."

"Which home? The Duke’s Manor or the Viscount’s residence?" Tong Airui walked over slowly, his lips clearly curving upward, yet cold air radiated from him.

Su Qing stopped in her tracks, her eyes filled with hope as she looked at Tong Airui. At this moment, he was the only one who could save her.

Tong Airui glanced at her briefly before returning his gaze to Mi Chenshuo. "I understand how you feel, but neither of the two places I just mentioned are options for them."

Mi Chenshuo’s eyes burned as he stared at Tong Airui. "Old Four, I want to give them a home. If I don’t go to the Duke’s Manor, I should at least be allowed to return to the Viscount’s residence!"

"Don’t forget your identity. Besides being a public figure, you are also the Viscount of Xiawu! Before this matter is clarified, the child cannot be exposed, and neither can Su Qing!"

Tong Airui stopped just a step away from him and lowered his eyes to look at Mianmian in his arms. The little girl resembled Su Qing and was adorable.

Mi Chenshuo hugged Mianmian tightly and took a step back. "The child is mine! I know this better than anyone!"

Tong Airui smirked faintly. "I didn’t say she wasn’t yours. Why are you so nervous?"

Su Qing ran forward, sobbing, "Airui Duke, the child isn’t Mi Chenshuo’s. Please let us—mother and daughter—go!"

Mi Chenshuo’s face was filled with pain as he looked at Su Qing. "Can you stop saying things that stab me in the heart? I know you hate me and blame my mother, but the child is innocent. If you keep living in that kind of place, how will she ever have a bright future?"

"I’ll work hard to earn money. I’ll make sure my daughter has a great future. But Mianmian truly isn’t your child. How many times do I have to say it before you believe me?" Su Qing said as she reached out, trying to grab the child. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Mi Chenshuo roared, "Are you insane? Mianmian is asleep. You’ll scare her like this!"

Tong Airui frowned. "Enough! Don’t argue in the middle of the night! I’ll take you somewhere to rest first."

"Where?" Mi Chenshuo asked sharply.

"I really want to slap you onto the moon!" Tong Airui growled, grabbing Mi Chenshuo by the collar and shoving him into the car.

"Su Qing, what about you? Are you riding in this car or another one?" Tong Airui asked coldly.

"I want to stay with my daughter." Su Qing said as she climbed into the front passenger seat.

Tong Airui raised his hand slightly. Three cars departed from the airport, with Tong Airui sitting in the car behind Mi Chenshuo’s. If anything happened with Mi Chenshuo, he would be the first to know.

The cars quickly arrived at an apartment complex. Mi Chenshuo glanced around and thought the place was decent before stepping out with Mianmian in his arms.

Tong Airui approached and warned in a low voice, "For now, the mother and daughter can only stay here. If you want to come here, you must avoid the paparazzi. If my aunt catches wind of this, I’ll be the first to make you pay!"

"And then what?" Mi Chenshuo rolled his eyes at him.

"Get a paternity test done as soon as possible. If she truly is your child, I’ll help you figure out a solution."

"Mianmian really is my child..."

"I only believe evidence!" Tong Airui glanced at the time and said to Mi Chenshuo, "If you don’t follow everything I say, I’ll make both mother and daughter vanish in the next second."

"Old Four, if you dare take Su Qing and Mianmian away, you and I are done!"

Tong Airui glanced at him. "Then do as I say!"

Mi Chenshuo grunted, fuming, and carried Mianmian into the building.

Su Qing approached Tong Airui, pleading, "Help me! Mi Chenshuo has gone mad—he only listens to you now."

Tong Airui lowered his gaze to her. "For the next few days, try to go along with him a little. Don’t always butt heads with him. Wait until the paternity test results are out before deciding anything."

Su Qing pursed her lips. "The child isn’t his!"

"Then whose is she?" Tong Airui asked coldly, staring at her. This woman, who had turned Old Three’s world upside down, better not have done something she shouldn’t have!

The question—whose child is she?—pierced Su Qing’s heart like needles. Silent tears rolled down her face.

Mi Chenshuo returned halfway, saw Su Qing crying, and hurried over. "Old Four, what are you trying to do?"

Tong Airui snorted coldly, opened the car door, and got inside. "Go upstairs. Tonight, I’ll stand guard for you!"
