Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 292 - 267: Whose Child Is It? (Second Update)
Yi Luowa pressed her lips together. Since he didn’t want her to speak, she decided to stay quiet for now, lest she upset him.
The two got in the car and shortly arrived at the Coastal Base. Seeing those massive amphibious vehicles, Yi Luowa’s excitement quickly made her forget all about what had just happened.
Tong Airui smiled as he watched her, always feeling that she was someone who could be easily satisfied. People like her were the best, he thought, because being easily satisfied also meant she experienced less disappointment.
When she was done gawking at the combat vehicles, Tong Airui handed her a few blueprints. "You can use these as references."
"Thanks, darling!" Yi Luowa beamed, looping her arm around his as she pointed to several restaurants in the distance. "What do you feel like eating? My treat today!"
Tong Airui looked at her indulgently and chuckled, "I know you’re our little rich lady. Next time we come, you can treat me. Today, I had the base chef prepare a seafood feast for you."
Yi Luowa laughed, "A seafood feast! I love it so much!"
"I’ve realized there’s nothing you don’t love." 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"That’s why I’m so easy to please!"
Tong Airui laughed and patted her on the head. "Since you like it so much, hurry along then."
Yi Luowa grinned wide and happily followed Tong Airui back. When they reached the restaurant at the base, Tong Airui pulled her aside at the entrance and pointed to a cluster of ocean-view properties nearby. "There’s a house over there that belongs to the two of us. Next time we vacation here, we’ll have a place to stay."
"We have a house here too?"
Tong Airui nodded. "But I’ve forgotten who gave it to us."
Yi Luowa chuckled, "That’s something you’d better keep to just me. If anyone else hears it and it gets back to the person who gave us the house, they’ll be fuming."
"Once I have time, I’ll make a list. Honestly, even we don’t know what properties we own, and if we told anyone about it, no one would believe us."
"Need help?" Yi Luowa asked sweetly, grinning.
Tong Airui shot her a sidelong glance. "No sense of shame at all. I’m doing this for you, and you still have the audacity to ask, ’Need help?’"
Yi Luowa tilted her head. "It’s marital property shared by the two of us—you have a stake in it too! How about this: for fairness’ sake, you tally up half, and I’ll do the other half."
Tong Airui ruffled her hair vigorously. "I’m not as petty as you. I’m a magnanimous man. I’ll handle your half as well."
The two continued bantering as they entered the restaurant. A food delivery worker walked by them with his head down, passing them swiftly.
Tong Airui took a deep sniff. "Wife, did you catch that scent?"
"Perfume—expensive perfume at that," Yi Luowa replied, glancing back at the delivery worker.
Tong Airui shouted, "Stop right there!"
Instead of stopping, the delivery worker sped up.
Tong Airui called out toward the door, "Catch him!"
A lieutenant and his team rushed in and, in a flurry of quick movements, subdued the delivery worker.
The base chef hurried over. "Captain, he’s mute. Is something wrong?"
Tong Airui frowned slightly. "Mute? How long has he been delivering food here?"
The delivery worker started making incoherent noises, struggling desperately to free himself from the men holding him.
The chef thought for a moment. "About six months."
Tong Airui approached the delivery worker and took another deep sniff. "A food delivery worker wearing such expensive perfume—that’s a first for me."
The delivery worker looked at him with an innocent expression.
"Honey, your pants zipper is open!" Yi Luowa suddenly yelled.
Everyone’s gaze immediately shifted toward Tong Airui’s pants.
The delivery worker, realizing that Tong Airui’s zipper wasn’t actually open, quickly lowered his head.
Yi Luowa burst out laughing. "So curious, aren’t you? Don’t you have one yourself? Why stare at my husband’s?"
Tong Airui’s mouth twitched as he signaled to one of his subordinates with his eyes.
The subordinate understood immediately, grabbed the delivery worker’s jaw, and deftly dislodged it. He reached into the man’s mouth and extracted a pill.
"Take this for testing. Check if it matches the toxic substance found in the female cook’s stomach," Tong Airui said, frowning slightly. He turned toward the chef. "All meals today need to be tested before anyone eats."
"Understood." The chef nodded and hurried back to the kitchen.
Tong Airui shrugged, taking Yi Luowa’s hand. "Looks like you’ll need to spend some money today after all."
"No problem," Yi Luowa said, her gaze fixed on the delivery worker. She lowered her voice and asked, "What will happen to this guy?"
Tong Airui instructed his subordinate, "Take him back and lock him up in Cell No. 1."
The lieutenant answered and led his men to escort the delivery worker out.
