Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 288 - 265: What’s so good-looking! (Third update)
You Jia brought Ai Ni over to toast, finally putting this section behind them.
During the banquet, Yi Luowa made it a point to observe Shiqing’s father and her two younger brothers. It seemed Shiqing really was the outlier in her family—not only did she look different, but her temperament was also unlike theirs.
Shiqing’s two younger brothers were the perfect little gentlemen, politely helping You Jia take care of the guests in attendance. As for Jack, he was even more easygoing and approachable, never putting on airs with anyone. He was especially respectful towards Tong Yao, not saying a word unless he addressed her as "Teacher" first.
Yi Luowa’s gaze lingered on the father and sons, prompting Tong Airui, seated beside her, to wave his hand in front of her eyes.
Yi Luowa smiled sheepishly. "Caught me, huh?"
"The old one and the young ones—what’s so interesting to see there?" Tong Airui teased, giving her nose a playful pinch. "Tomorrow, You Jia and Ai Ni are going to ride the flower floats. Want to stay and watch?"
Yi Luowa blinked and was about to smile but quickly held it back. "You’ve got so much to do, and I should check on the progress with those three cars. Better skip it."
"Are you sure you don’t want to watch?"
"Yep, not watching."
Smiling, Tong Airui ruffled her hair. "Then, it’ll just be the two of us heading back tonight. You won’t feel annoyed, will you?"
"You still don’t know what kind of person your sister is? What’s that saying... Oh, right—’a spit is as good as a nail.’" Yi Luowa chuckled. "By the way, you didn’t forget to include Second Uncle’s gift on the list, did you?"
"I gave it to Mom; she won’t forget. A mere engagement, and Second Uncle spent so much—it even made Mom feel a little bad."
"Second Uncle said he felt bad about it, too. He wanted to come, but Dad and Mom told him not to push himself since his health wasn’t great. They were worried the trip would exhaust him."
"Let’s try not to involve Second Uncle in things like this going forward. At least not until he’s fully adapted to using those prosthetics of his."
Yi Luowa smiled and said softly, "Honestly, I’m more worried about him attracting those clingy women! Huo Li told me people have been showing up at the estate over the past few days. It scared Second Uncle so much, he doesn’t even dare step outside."
"Want me to send a few people over?" Tong Airui suggested with a laugh.
Yi Luowa playfully scratched his palm. "Now *that* I’d totally support!"
"Is it really okay for you two to flaunt your love so openly?" A tall young man approached them with a glass of red wine in hand.
Tong Airui glanced at him and chuckled. "At least I’m not doing shady things behind the scenes like you."
"Am I shady?" The young man smiled and let his gaze rest on Yi Luowa’s face.
"This is Young Master Kang—the youngest son of Uncle Leng," Tong Airui said to Yi Luowa with a smile. "We have him to thank for us getting our marriage license."
Yi Luowa quickly smiled and greeted him. "Thank you, Young Master Kang."
Leng Chukang returned the smile. "Sister-in-law, no need to be so formal. I’m sorry I missed your engagement banquet—it was put together on such short notice."
Tong Airui said with a grin, "Though Young Master Kang couldn’t attend, he did send a gift. Remember Brother Can from our engagement party? He’s Kang’s older brother. And Tingting, the one you saw—she’s his big sister."
Yi Luowa chuckled and said, "Oh, now I know which Uncle Leng we’re talking about. My memory’s really something, huh?"
"It’s probably because there were too many people at your house—it got you all mixed up." Leng Chukang smiled, lightly clinking glasses with them. "I’ll go mingle over there. You two, carry on with your lovefest."
"Goodbye, Young Master Kang," Yi Luowa said with a wave and a smile.
After that, quite a few people came over one after another to greet Tong Airui. He managed to keep up the small talk for a while but eventually started getting annoyed. Why? Because even though they said they were there to talk to him, their eyes were fixed on his wife.
When the banquet finally ended, Tong Airui bid farewell to Carlos and left the palace. The group that had arrived together now boiled down to just the two of them heading back.
The two of them slept all the way to Xiawu, where the plane landed directly at the royal airport. As the night sky loomed overhead, Tong Airui suddenly broke into a laugh.
Yi Luowa, puzzled, asked him, "What’s so funny?"
Tong Airui’s grin turned mischievous. "I’m laughing at how the timing, place, and people are all perfectly aligned!"
His expression instantly gave away that he was up to no good. Yi Luowa raised a brow and said, "Care to explain?"
"Think about it—timing: it’s already dark out; place: we’ll soon be back at our cozy little home; people: you slept the entire trip, so you can’t use ’I’m sleepy’ as an excuse to refuse me tonight."
Yi Luowa’s lips twitched slightly, but she ignored him.
Laughing, Tong Airui leaned down and scooped her into his arms. "Let’s go, back home."
Unfortunately for him, his joy only lasted three seconds. As soon as they got into the car, his phone rang. Tong Airui glanced at the number on the screen, frowned slightly, and immediately declined the call.
Yi Luowa pouted. His temper really was something else—if he didn’t like someone, he wouldn’t even bother picking up their call.
