Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 284 - 263 Dad, I’ve caused trouble (first update)
The call to Tong Yao was made by Connie, as she feared Tong Aino might go off on a tangent full of exaggerated stories. Connie also voluntarily explained how Tong Aino had jumped into the lotus pond to save her, even though she had an allergic reaction afterward.
Tong Yao was naturally heartbroken, but despite her distress, she didn’t want Connie to feel pressured. So, she comforted her, saying that while her son had suffered a bit, at least he successfully brought back his wife. That, at least, was a joyous occasion.
The matter with the fifth uncle finally came to an end, and everyone was able to breathe a sigh of relief.
However, Long Che and Tong Airui were still on edge, tension palpable. With the death of the woman in the blue skirt, the trail had gone cold. Both father and son, along with Muta, had dispatched teams to carry out a thorough search.
The most infuriating of all was the third brother, who waited for days to inform Tong Airui that Shao Gang had vanished, disappearing as if he’d evaporated into thin air.
Tong Airui lashed out after hearing the news, "Why didn’t you say something sooner?"
"The household was preoccupied with your engagement party. How could I bring this up and add to the chaos?" Mi Chenshuo pinched the bridge of his nose. "According to the police, when they arrived at the hotel, the bed was still warm."
"Vet everyone surrounding you! All these years, you’ve been busy making films, leaving Shao Gang to handle everything for you. There must be informants in the company working for him; otherwise, he couldn’t have escaped so quickly." Tong Airui slammed his hand on the table. "You should have told me earlier! It’s not my subordinates getting engaged; if you’d delegated this correctly, it wouldn’t have turned out like this!"
"It’s too late to say anything now. Border controls have already been tightened. I don’t believe he’ll be able to leave Z Country. Listen, I’m planning to go to Z Country personally—after all, I have some contacts there. Once I leave, the fifth uncle won’t be home, and the only one managing the company will be my dad. If you have time, help keep an eye on things."
Tong Airui shot him a sidelong glance. "I’d rather help you with things in Z Country."
"No need. Both Shao Gang and Su Qing—I must find them myself." Mi Chenshuo patted Tong Airui’s shoulder. "I’m heading out. Let’s hope this trip yields some results."
Tong Airui watched him walk out the door and laughed bitterly, "Idiot! With the few people you have, how long is it going to take to find those two?"
He picked up his phone, found a number, typed out a message, and sent it.
Since the third brother didn’t want him to help openly, then he’d assist discreetly.
After sorting this out, Tong Airui finally returned to his room.
Yi Luowa was sitting cross-legged on the bed, holding a notebook and looking up information. When she saw him walk in, she smiled but quickly went back to browsing the webpage.
"Is the computer more attractive than me?" Tong Airui asked, feeling jealous after being ignored by his wife.
"Yup! Your face doesn’t show cars like the computer does." Yi Luowa chuckled, put the notebook aside, and got off the bed.
"What are you doing? Why aren’t you continuing your research?" Tong Airui asked suspiciously.
Yi Luowa pouted and reached up to unbutton his shirt. "I can tell from the tone of your voice that something’s off. If I stay on the bed, who knows how you might act up later!"
Tong Airui basked in his wife’s attentive care, curling his lips in satisfaction. "Weren’t you just playing chess with Grandpa earlier? How did you come upstairs so quickly?"
"Dad came back and told me I had to win against Grandpa. But if I did, Grandpa would definitely be upset. So, I made it a draw and said I had homework to do, then ran upstairs."
"How considerate of you!" Tong Airui pinched her cheek lightly. "I’ll undress myself; go ahead and get back to your stuff."
"It’ll take more than a day or two to finish reading everything—I’ll get back to it later."
Tong Airui glanced at the notebook on the bed. "Doesn’t seem convenient for you to read while seated on the bed. How about I set up a study room for you?"
"That’s not necessary; it’s too much trouble."
"It’s no trouble at all. There are plenty of rooms on the third floor—clearing one out is easy. You’re bound to need it in the future. Or you could share a study room with me."
Yi Luowa shook her head hastily. "I definitely won’t share your study room. What if I accidentally see something confidential?"
"Then separate rooms it is. I’ll arrange for it tomorrow; I’ll also have the back courtyard cleared out so they can prepare a study room for you there."
"Speaking of the courtyard, I just remembered Bandit. I haven’t checked on it for days—wonder how it’s doing?"
"It won’t die!" Tong Airui shot her a disapproving glance. "I’m your husband—can’t you focus a little more of your thoughts on me?"
"Mm-hm, mm-hm, I promise to focus all my thoughts on you from now on." Yi Luowa replied with a sweet smile.
Tong Airui eyed her suspiciously. "What’s with your unusually good mood today? Seems out of place—did you do something mischievous?"
Yi Luowa glared at him. "What could I possibly have done? If I’m kind to you, you suspect me; if I’m indifferent, you dislike it. Why are you so hard to please!"
