Chapter 241: Legends in the Flesh

"Our deepest apologies, Lord Westley. I’ll see to it that the curriculum is revised as soon as possible."

Jamie turned his gaze to the Dean, his eyes sharp as he spoke.

"As soon as possible? How about you start doing that right this instant?

If this is what’s taught in higher classes, I shudder to think of the nonsense being fed to the lower levels."

The Dean, still bowing, nodded vigorously.

"Understood, my lord. My apologies—many apologies, Lord Westley. I shall make sure it begins immediately."

Hearing the Dean mention ’Lord Westley’, the gathered students and faculty exchanged silent, astonished glances.

The title alone explained everything—their mystery critic was no less than a scion of the Westley family, the ruling Werewolf Clan on Estea.

And if that wasn’t enough, the Dean’s complete submission proved his authority went beyond the academy—and the Race Kings of the Lorelith Clan in charge of it.

They also noticed that the Dean, who had moments before intended to escort David and Davina to meet their grandmother, Seren, prioritized answering Jamie without question.

Still, they were confused.

Why was there a Westley Werewolf, on the Vampire’s continent, critiquing their curriculum? They barely had time to process this thought when another voice rang out.

"Lord Jamie?"

Eyes turned in the direction of this new voice and immediately, the vampire students dropped to one knee, their voices merging in a respectful greeting.

""Your Excellency.""

Seren stepped into the clearing, acknowledging the greeting students with a nod. She walked past David and Davina, patting their heads with a gentle smile, before turning to Jamie.

"I didn’t think you’d be finished with your business so soon."

She thought she was going to have enough time to explain everything to the two teens, but Jamie had arrived faster than expected.

"I was just passing a message along to Kaiser. Afterwards, I was coming to meet you when I sensed the twins here. Figured I’d check in on them... and then I came across this atrocity."

He motioned to the formula projection. A moment later, his brow furrowed and he waved his hand to destroy it.

"Such rubbish should not exist."

Turning back to Seren, he asked.

"Remind me—this academy is under the Lorelith Clan’s jurisdiction, isn’t it? Maybe I should consider stripping a few ’Ruler Crowns’ to make sure they’re teaching the next generation something actually worthwhile."

The students blinked when they heard his words, looking on in stunned silence. Hearing Jamie casually talk about removing crowns from Race Kings as if it were a simple disciplinary measure was hard to comprehend.

As for Seren, the woman only chuckled softly.

"Lord Jamie, let’s give them a bit of grace. There’s bound to be the occasional oversight. While the Lorelith Clan oversees the academy, smaller matters may slip through the cracks."

She cast a meaningful glance at the Dean, who promptly lowered his head in deference.

"I will see to it that the curriculum revision begins immediately, Your Excellency."

The Dean reassured, sweat dripping down his brows and Jamie gave him an unimpressed gaze.

"You’d better. I can’t have the younger generation wasting time on nonsense. In fact—"

He turned to the students, his azure eyes gaze sweeping over them.

"—forget everything you were taught about that formula; it’s useless."

The students exchanged glances, uncertainty and disbelief written across their faces.

Raising his hand, Jamie conjured a projection in the air, with intricate energy patterns and runes that had even the most advanced students struggling to understand.

"This, is the real formula."

Wanete silently raised her grimoire, her amethyst eyes glowing as she copied the magic formula while her peers gawked at the complex design.

Before anyone could ask how he knew this, Jamie spoke again.

"You want to know why I know this is the real formula? Simple, it’s because I created this spell."

After dropping this bombshell on the students, he turned to Seren and began.

"Seren, come with me a moment. It’s about Orilan. I need you to handle some arrangements while you’re there with Mira."

Seren nodded quietly and fell into step beside Jamie who began walking out of the area with the visibly anxious Dean trailing behind.

"In a few days, I’ll be leaving the planet with those two. Make sure they’re sorted out with their school affairs. No interruptions, got it?"

Hearing Jamie’s order, the Dean bowed repeatedly.

"Of course, Lord Westley. I’ll ensure it’s taken care of."

Just as Jamie was about to turn away, his gaze fell on Wanete, who was still watching him silently. Figuring that if he was already taking two, adding one more wouldn’t hurt, he asked,

"You want to come along? We’re heading out of the galaxy for a bit."

Wanete blinked in surprise, not entirely sure she’d heard him right. David and Davina looked equally stunned, exchanging glances, their confusion deepening.

Catching their expressions, Seren explained with a light chuckle.

"Lord Jamie, you haven’t explained a thing to them. Not to worry—I’ll make sure they understand everything, and find out if Waldron’s granddaughter is interested in joining as well."

Jaime silently shrugged after she spoke, turning back to leave while the other two followed along.

◇ ◇ ◇

As Jamie and the others disappeared from sight, the class erupted into a frenzy of whispered questions and wide-eyed stares. David and Davina found themselves immediately surrounded by curious classmates.

"Who was that?"

"And why did your grandmother call him Lord?"

The students could hardly believe Seren, a Race Queen, would use such a title on another. If she addressed him with that level of respect, then Jamie’s standing was something far beyond anything they knew.

Some wondered if he was a ’Race Emperor’.

Wanete, catching the confusion in their expressions, laughed.

"I think I might understand why he was so upset about the curriculum."

She spoke with a wry smile and the others looked at her with confused gazes.

"What do you mean?"

One of them asked and Wanete’s eyes gleamed with a bit of mischief as she asked back.

"Don’t you all know the founding families of the Crimson Court?"

A few students rolled their eyes, feeling slightly insulted.

"Of course, we do! It’s Vespera, Lorelith, Evangelista, Haera, Tepes, Cazimir, Ianari, Fanchon, and Hendrik. Everyone knows that!"

Hearing her classmate’s response, Wanete crossed her arms and responded.

"Well, you missed the last one—or, more accurately, the firstone. Westley."

For a moment, her words hung in the air, and the students’ expressions shifted from confusion to something bordering on disbelief.

Finally, another student blurted out.

"But... I thought that was a mistake. A Werewolf? There’s no way a Westley Clan member helped found the Crimson Court. That doesn’t make any sense!"

The expressions of the others showed they agreed, and Wanete shrugged.

"I suppose it might sound strange now, but it’s true. The Crimson Court was founded millions of years ago.

You really think there haven’t been a few changes to the information passed down to us?

Probably some older generations began removing the Westley name from the list. Either they didn’t want anyone thinking a werewolf clan was part of the Court’s creation, or they were ignorant like you, thinking it was a mistake of some sort."

Wanete also remembered Jamie telling her and the Evangelista twins about how he and the other Hybrids had purposely turned their existences into Myths due to certain incidents long ago and guessed that played a part as well.

Meanwhile, the murmurs of her classmates grew louder as realization set in.

Finally, Wanete ended the conversation by answering their questions about who Jamie was.

Wanete continued, her voice low but steady, almost reverent.

"That man we just saw?

That was the ’Westley’ of the Crimson Court’s founders. Jamie Westley.

Remember how our Race Rulers suddenly started arriving here these past few weeks? It’s all because of him."

She paused, letting the gravity of her words sink in.

"That’s one of the Legendary Hybrids."

A hush fell over the class, a palpable shock settling on their faces.

To think, a legend had been standing right in front of them, casually criticizing the formula they’d thought was the norm.

A newfound respect—and a bit of awe—spread through the group as they fully realized the magnitude of what they’d just witnessed.
