As Jamie and Lapis walked through the sleek, metallic corridors of the space station, the atmosphere shifted in their wake.
The low hum of advanced machinery and the soft glow of luminescent panels on the walls cast an ethereal light on their figures.
Those who saw them immediately moved to the side, bowing their heads in deep respect. Normally, if Lapis walked alone, they would offer her respectful greetings, acknowledging her status and position.
But today, as she conversed with Jamie, none dared to interrupt their conversation.
Lapis was the strongest Race Empress of the Pinecone Galaxy (Pronounced Pin-a-cone), and she was also its Galactic Ruler.
Very few people dared not to show respect towards her.
As the Race Empress and Galactic Ruler of Pinecone, her rule was absolute. Just like the ’Master of the Universe’ was the Ruler of the Pantheon of the Universe, a ’Galactic Ruler’ was the Supreme Authority of a Galaxy.
Few dared challenge her, and those that did were crushed by the legions of Vampire deities under her command.
Her vampire subordinates, fiercely loyal and equally ruthless, prevented any potential threats or rebels from even catching her attention, maintaining a flawless order across the galaxy.
Despite the vampire race’s disdain for half-breeds, Lapis, a Dhampir, reigned supreme over them all, proving her overwhelming strength time and again.
In her younger years, she earned the title of Overlord of Blood and Iron, a name that sent shivers through her enemies as she eradicated Vampire supremacists who sought to challenge her right to rule.
Eventually, she came to gain the position of Galactic Ruler after a certain Tragic incident over 450 million years ago.
Lapis was also a titled Hero, one of the Defence mechanisms of her home planet—Anadus Prime—and she held the extra title of Guardian of the Galaxy. She had earned the reverence of the people she ruled, protecting Pinecone from countless threats over millions of years.
Among those threats, none were more dangerous than the Space Beasts, monstrous creatures born from the absurd concentration of cosmic energy that lurked in the void between galaxies.
Jamie had fought his share of these beasts, and as he walked beside Lapis, the thought of them crossed his mind.
The Space Beasts were varied in appearance and strength, but there were some similarities they all shared.
These beasts were composed of a strange, unknown crystal-like material that granted them the ability to absorb vast amounts of energy. This material increased their durability to ridiculous levels, making them difficult to destroy.
Like other existences, they did not all have a singular elemental attribute or polarity and were just as varied as normal people.
Their power came from their cores—the true sources of their energy absorption abilities.
The lowest-ranked beasts had a single core, but as their rank increased, so did the number of cores. Inferior-Ranked had two cores, Intermediate-Ranked had three, and the Superior Space Beasts possessed four.
However, the true terrors were the Space Beast Lords, who sometimes had up to six cores. These were those that managed to reach the Deity Realm.
While even rarer than Lords, some space beasts make it to the High-Tier Deity level, and these dangerous ones are the kind that usually require Lapis or her subordinate Vampire Kings to take personal action.
Such thoughts crossed Jamie’s mind as he walked with Lapis, passing groups of Vampires.
Among them, the younger Vampires only dared to raise their brows, wondering in awe who this man was that walked beside their Empress. Whispers of curiosity flickered behind their respectful silence, though they said nothing aloud.
But those of the older generation, the experienced ones who had lived through millennia, reacted far more dramatically. Their eyes widened in shock, recognition flooding their faces.
Some of the Peak Ranked Vampires and Vampire Lords even dropped to their knees, bowing with their heads touching the cold floor.
It was a sight that stunned the younger Mid and High Ranked Vampires, who couldn’t comprehend why the most powerful figures in their society were bowing to this man. But understanding dawned on them soon enough.
The whispers of Jamie’s identity spread like wildfire.
The awe and respect grew as the young Vampires pieced it together.
The Estean Hybrids were legendary in their own right, and to hear that this man was not only one of them but also Lapis’ mentor and one of the founding members of the Estea’s Crimson Court—a group of unparalleled prestige—changed everything.
As Lapis surrounded herself with competent people, no one had any strange or silly thoughts like a certain group of Race Lords from Neo Titania that Jamie recalled.
Jamie chuckled, overhearing the whispers as they passed. He turned to Lapis, a wry smile playing on his lips.
"In a few days, I bet the whole galaxy will know I’m here."
Lapis, walking with her usual air of authority, didn’t break stride.
"Sir Jamie, information transmission has become much faster these days. It won’t take 24 hours for everyone to know you’re around."
Jamie laughed softly, shaking his head.
"Ah, the wonders of modern technology."
He had never thought technology could get any better, but in a mere 12,000 years, things advanced much more than he could have predicted.
"Ah, I almost forgot to ask. What about those cultists?"
"...cultists?"
Lapis’ brows raised and imaginary question marks floated above her head. She didn’t understand what Jamie meant by this but the man just pointed at an electronic board on the wall.
Turning to it, she saw a picture of a structure she recognized every well—the Amphitheatre of Eternity.
Recognition flashed in her eyes.
The ’Cultists’ Jamie referred to were a group called the ’Creator Society’, formed by people who worshipped the deceased Cassiel and wished to preserve all his creations.
They were the ones who managed the Amphitheatre of Eternity, and Lapis let them do as they wished, though she did keep an occasional eye on them so they didn’t do anything fishy.
However, as far as she knew, they weren’t doing anything that warranted her constant surveillance.
The Amphitheatre of Eternity was a colossal, supergiant star-sized planetoid, its surface carved into the shape of an immense, intergalactic battle arena.
Its sheer size rivals even the largest celestial bodies out there, which was a given considering the trillions of people who come to it every year, yet it was more than just a marvel of scale—it was powered by an energy source even more potent than the core of a galaxy.
Jamie could never forget how he had to beat sense back into Cassiel when the young man created the Amphitheatre’s core.
Since it was an even more potent source of energy and mass than the galaxy’s core, it destabilized Pinecone.
A galaxy was a group of gravitationally bound stars, and they were bound because the core had the strongest gravity.
What would happen if something with even stronger gravity were to appear? They’d naturally change course.
And that caused chaos that alerted the Main Entities of then, yet they could do nothing to punish Cassiel as the man was Jamie’s disciple.
