Chapter 206: Lapis Darla Argeryan

Stadruque Danger Zone

Anadus Prime

Euthenia Star System

November 18th

Year 2018 of the 52nd General Calendar

1908th Cosmic Cycle.

Titanus Ravager

A colossal, quadrupedal beast with thick, stone-like armour plating covering its body. Its hide was a blend of dark, earthen tones, streaked with veins of molten red that pulsed with powerful energy. Massive tusks jutted from its lower jaw, and its glowing amber eyes peered from a face shaped like a combination of a rhino and a lion.

Its limbs were muscular and ended in clawed feet that could crush mountains with ease, while jagged spines ran down its back, sparking the energy of different elements.

Slamming its forelimbs into the ground could generate powerful shockwaves that fracture the earth, creating fissures in the tectonic plates holding up the land and causing devastation that sinks entire continents.

And this particular Ravager was intending to do just that.

Facing it, a man adjusted his three-piece suit, dusting the immaculate fabric while wielding a sword that left trails of shimmering mist dancing like meteors through the night sky with each movement of its blade.

The towering monstrosity of muscle and rage that he faced, snarled and reared its colossal body, shaking the earth beneath it.

Suddenly, the man vanished from sight, reappearing high above the beast with his sword raised. He then slowly sheathed the blade and shook his head with a sigh.

"Once again, I have cut a worthless object."

Just as the sound of his words reached the beast’s six ears, the world seemed to freeze.

Silently, a storm of transparent slashes ripped through the space around the Ravager. Time bent and twisted as flashes from the sword carved through the beast’s massive body, leaving no room for retaliation.

The beast froze mid-motion, its eyes widening in primal fear. The dozens of ethereal slashes that appeared in the air around it, shimmered briefly before vanishing into nothingness.

The man’s feet touched down on the ground behind the Ravager and the world returned to motion. Behind him, the Titanus Ravager stood frozen.

For a split second, there was silence.

Then, reality reasserted itself with a deafening crack as the impact resonated and the invisible blades sliced through the monster’s armour, flesh, and bones like paper.

Its massive form buckled, and in an instant, its once-imposing body began to fall apart, disintegrating into fragments.

The beast let out one final, desperate groan as its limbs collapsed under the force of the man’s cuts.

Its tusks shattered, its spines crumbled, and its molten energy flickered and died as the massive creature split cleanly into pieces, each one severed with surgical precision.

As the remains of the Ravager tumbled to the ground in an eruption of dust, the man did not turn to watch.

The battle was over before the beast even realized it had begun.

"Judgement Cu-"

"That’s Copyright, Sir Jamie."

A clear-cut voice resounded in the air, stopping the man from finishing his very dangerous statement and hearing it, he laughed and turned to his right.

"You should have at least allowed me to say the complete thing. Now only a few people would get the reference."

He spoke with a mild laugh and then stretched his body, before addressing the woman who suddenly appeared.

It was a young woman with shoulder-length hair, her bangs extending down to cover the middle of her forehead. Her eyes were framed by a pair of half-framed glasses that gave her an air of quiet intelligence.

Her facial features were almost too well-proportioned, giving her an otherworldly appearance. Despite her age, she physically looked around twenty years old.

To her, Jamie spoke.

"Nice to see you again, Tiris."

However, upon hearing his words, the woman calmly refuted the name he had called her.

"Sir Jamie, my grandmother has been dead for over 500 million years."

"...I know, Lapis."

Jamie responded with a sigh, and his vision stopped overlaying the black hair and eyes of the young woman he once knew, over the white hair and royal-blue eyes of the woman standing before him.

She was not Tiris Argeryan but Lapis Darla Argeryan.

Her attire was a mix of white and black, wearing a white, long-sleeved blouse and a black skirt. She also wore a black coat over her shoulders, not making use of the sleeves.

Lapis’ attire was a stark contrast to the flowing dresses that Tiris had preferred.

Just like she had stated, the young woman that Jamie had escorted during his first visit to the planet Gnocyl Prime—Tiris—was her grandmother, who passed over 500 million years ago.

"One of the pains of immortality, I guess.

Friends succumb to the passage of time and are claimed by death, leaving you behind in your eternity."

Wistful words escaped Jamie’s lips with a sigh.

Many things have changed since that fateful day over a billion years ago.

Now, no one Jamie had interacted with then, either directly or indirectly, was still alive. They’d all long since died millions of years ago.

Even the goddess, Esanke, who ruled the Ciurath Star System where Gnocyl Prime was had died and a new ’Esanke’ had taken up her Race Queen Authority.

Tiris had lived a rather long life considering she remained human until her death. Even though her Divine Factors gave her a longer lifespan than normal, it was not enough for her to last as long as she did.

The reason she did so was because of Jamie who extended her life repeatedly with his power.

However, this was not without flaws.

Unlike Jamie who was born a werewolf, with an inherently different perception of time and a mentality built to last through its ravages, Tiris was born a human.

Living as long as she did had side effects on her mental state.

As such, when the Universal War against the Destruction Supreme began and Tiris consumed all of Jamie’s power that was keeping her alive to defeat one of the Heralds of the Extinction Legion, she told Jamie not to extend her life anymore.

She had this in mind ever since she noticed the first signs of her mental erosion, and did not wish to live on as a shell of herself.

As for Jamie who had extended her life to that point, she was grateful to him.

With Jamie’s power no longer extending her life, Tiris only lasted one more year before the Law of Death which should have claimed her soul millions of years earlier came to collect its missing bounty.

Lapis remained silent after Jamie spoke, completely understanding his feelings. She too, had experienced her own share of losses that came with her longevity as a Dhampir Race Empress who had lived 500 million years and counting.

"You’re still an Empress, huh?"

Jamie muttered under his breath and catching wind of his words, Lapis’ brows twitched as she spoke.

"Ah, yes. Your tendency to make fun of people is something I certainly did not miss, Sir Jamie."

"Pfft...I’m not making fun of you. I just wished you had broken through while I was asleep. A pity that you didn’t."

Lapis’ expression showed she certainly didn’t believe the words Jamie had just spoken one bit and the man could only let out a dry laugh.

But no lies were spoken.

Lapis was indeed a ’Race Empress’ and she had been stuck as one for millions of years now.

She had reached the ’Peak of the Universe’, and if she wanted to grow any stronger, she had to surpass that peak.

Unfortunately, surpassing that level required some form of Cosmic Superiority and she, as well as over 97% of the Universe had neither.

Jamie yawned and stretched his body, thinking back to the past 9 months since Ikerth’s defeat on Zotov.

The entire Star System was moved into the Argent Empire like Miranda had wanted, and regulations were placed to limit the amount of Ruindeum they could sell, as well as to control which hands it ended up in.

On a side note, Miranda took Dornik’s Brother, Henrik, with her as she went to Argent’s capital world, Volarth.

As for Jamie, he had come to Anadus Prime in the Pinecone Galaxy to utilize one of its danger zones to level up and regain more power.

9 months to go from Deity Level 17 to 100 was a time frame that people would kill for.

Existences on average, spent decades to millennia in each Tier of the Deity realm, and that number increased the higher the Tier.

However, as Jamie was not walking this path for the first time but simply regaining the power he’d gained before, it was much faster for him.

He didn’t need to spend time comprehending Laws like others, so he could breeze through everything.

Still, some things did not change as he would have liked.

Jamie glanced at his sheathed sword and sighed.

’It’s not awake, yet...’

Despite all the feats Jamie had performed with this weapon since he awakened in January, the Galaxy Sword was still asleep.

The Sword was an Ego Weapon with its own consciousness and was capable of both coherent speech and thought, but it hadn’t spoken even once since Jamie awakened.

’Not like it speaks normally. Despite being able to, it just transmits its thoughts directly instead of speaking.’

But even that hadn’t happened in the past few months.
