Chapter 168: Interlude 1-5: On That Day, Twelve Thousand Years Ago V

Outside observers could witness a long, thick black scar cutting through the colourful spiral of the galaxy, with stars being violently expelled due to the destruction of gravitational forces binding them.

Not wasting a moment, Jamie retaliated with his own strike.

His spatial scythe released a slash that transcended distance and time, reaching Slaifdein instantaneously.

The slash seemed to split reality itself, cleaving Slaifdein across the torso and sending the Demon Sword’s Humanoid form staggering backwards.

All around them, the very integrity of the galaxy seemed on the brink of collapse. Stars and planets threatened to spiral out of control, their gravitational bonds shattered by the immense power unleashed.

Yet, the catastrophic split that would have torn the galaxy asunder was averted thanks to the double trio of Incomplete Hybrids and Jamie’s disciples.

They combined their powers and Law Authorities in a desperate bid to contain the wanton destruction, creating a protective barrier with their unified effort and holding the galaxy together.

As for the people responsible for this, they were already deep in the chaotic void between galaxies, swimming in the sea of dark matter around them.

Well, at least one person was swimming.

Jamie had grabbed Slaifdein by the neck and dragged it out of the galaxy, smashing it through lone stars on his way out.

Foreign Galactic Rulers peeked over with their powers, and the learned ones were shocked at the sight of Jamie, not expecting him of all people to be the one wreaking havoc here.

This then got them curious about just who Jamie was fighting, but no way the Hybrid would drop by and explain to them.

He flung Slaifdein into a random black hole, ignoring how it spun around and sliced the black hole, splitting apart the Singularity in the centre.

Suddenly, Slaifdein’s body was hit by an unseen force and sent hurtling to the left.

Black blood spurted into the void and before it could compute how it was injured, another force hit it in the opposite direction, nearly tearing off its left arm.

Its red pupils darted around and spotted Jamie not too far away, just in time to see the Hybrid swing his scythe down again.

Another unseen slash split Slaifdein’s body apart, spraying blood everywhere.

The next lopped its head right off, but Slaifdein’s true body was a Sword, not the Humanoid it was fighting Jamie with.

At the cost of a great deal of energy, it could simply reconstruct this humanoid body. However, this would all be a waste if it could not understand how it was being wounded.

No way Slaifdein would have imagined that Jamie was sending his slashes through the Fourth Dimension.

Jamie swung his scythe once more, and on pure instinct, Slaifdein turned around to block the slash coming from behind.

This turned out to be a foolish decision, as blocking that attack caused it to turn its back on its opponent.

Jamie’s fist collided with the back of Slaifdein’s head, and with a burst of flames and lightning, it was launched towards the nearest galaxy.

Without a second’s delay, Jamie unleashed a barrage of punches, with Slaifdein’s form quivering under the onslaught of each successive blow.

The hybrid’s relentless assault continued, each impact shattering space and drawing black blood from Slaifdein, whilst also driving it back.

Any rogue stars or planets in their path were violently ripped apart.

In the midst of this, Miranda calculated Jamie’s trajectory and noticed he was on a collision course towards another galaxy.

As such, she acted quickly and used the spatial powers contained within the ’Nexus Fascinator’ Jamie gave her to bend the fabric of spacetime and alter his trajectory.

The sudden alteration diverted Jamie’s course away from the path that would have led to the catastrophic destruction of another galaxy, saving quintillions of lives in the process.

The cosmic power in each of Jamie’s punches was enough to decimate this nameless galaxy multiple times over, after all.

While the Laws of Fate and Destiny were harping in Miranda’s ears about having averted a dark fate for quintillions of beings, Jamie continued raining down punches on Slaifdein, each strike infused with gravity law power to carry the weight of galaxies.

Suddenly, he heard a familiar voice in his head.

’Jay, don’t forget you have an appointment by 7.’

|Huh? |

Jamie paused upon hearing Miranda’s voice, cleaning his bloodied fists before glancing down at his watch and checking the time.

|Oh shit, it’s 6:45! |

Realising he only had 15 minutes to get to his appointment with the ’Witch of Mercury’, Jamie decided to end things.

He appraised the bloodied Slaifdein and noted that in pummelling the Sword’s Humanoid form over and over, directly attacking its Soul, he had forced it to consume buttloads of energy to regenerate the damage.

As such, it currently did not have enough power left, to block his next strike.

◇ ◇ ◇

Miranda spoke to the Race Kings nearby.

"I want you all to understand something. Jamie and I wouldn’t always be nearby to save you from situations like this."

Hearing her words, one of the Race Queens frowned lightly and replied.

"But, Lady Scott. Slaifdein is an anomaly! A sword created with the power to devour and destroy galaxies."

Miranda turned around and glanced at the Race Queen who spoke with a raised brow. The High-elf took a step back instinctively out of fear, and Miranda chuckled at the sight of this.

"Sure, Slaifdein is an anomaly. A sword with the power to destroy galaxies. But..."

The moment she spoke, a veil of darkness descended.

The shine of the billions of multicoloured stars lighting up the Calesius Galaxy and other surrounding galaxies dimmed.

Everyone felt a chill down their spine as the terrifying and pervasive darkness spread all around as it stretched out for millions of light years.

||Galaxy Sword. ||

Exactly five seconds after that voice echoed out, light returned and eyes could now see.

""??!!""

They could now see the thing in Jamie’s hands.

Boasting a hilt meticulously carved from polished obsidian, its blade was a mesmerizing enigma. Formed from black mist with an otherworldly iridescence, mirroring the enchanting patterns of swirling galaxies and nebulae, an embodiment of the very essence of outer space.

It was then, that Miranda completed her unfinished statement.

"...who said it was the only one around?"

She was telling the Race Kings not to let their guards down, as the Universe was a vast place, and one could never know what horrors lurked in its corners.

◇ ◇ ◇

In one fluid movement, Jamie unsheathed the Galaxy Sword and swung it down.

Trails of iridescent mist followed its path, like meteors streaking across the sky.

He released a single silent slash that surged forward at faster-than-light speed, crossing through Slaifdein in an instant.

And then, he sheathed the blade and returned it to his subspace, just as silently as he had unleashed it.

*SWISH!

No amount of magic, aura or even cosmic energy could save Slaifdein from this.

Jamie’s slash, cut through Dimensions.

The space split in two.

Then the two halves of the space shifted out of sync. Then they tilted at an inclined angle.

Time around them broke for a moment.

Cold sweat ran down the backs of all the Deities who witnessed this sight.

’Myth? Not Real?’

’Who the fuck said such things about the Estean Hybrids?!’

’If they were really myths, then what in Zanerth are we looking at now?!’

Looking at the dissipating fragments of light that were what was left of Slaifdein’s true body, Jamie silently reached out to collect the one thing he had selectively decided not to ’slash’. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

But before his hand reached it, he heard a voice.

[Of course...I couldn’t...defeat you...

Not even my Creator could...Void Paragon...

After all, you’re...a ’Grand Supreme’...]

The consciousness of the Demon Sword Slaifdein cut off right after, having truly understood that Jamie was an insurmountable wall before it.

At the last moment, Slaifdein had actually managed to gain Cosmic Superiority, and it had been able to glimpse at Jamie’s real power.

Hearing this, the Hybrid smiled wryly as he grabbed the core and extracted the Soul of the Incomplete Hybrid it devoured.

Glancing back at the core, he shook his head and spoke.

"In the end, both you and your master never noticed. You never saw the Zenith."

Just as he said that, Jamie noticed a wisp of a familiar aura, something he might have missed if he didn’t gaze at the core long enough.

"Isn’t this...?"

Immediately, realisation dawned on him.

Why Slaifdein had appeared here.

Why the Race Kings had known Jamie and Miranda were nearby.

How they were able to even contact the two Hybrids for help.

It all made sense now.

Looking up and peering into the void with his gaze, Jamie asked.

"Just what are you doing, Sarina?"

◇ ◇ ◇

Hundreds of billions of Lightyears from Jamie’s position, a woman stood atop a mountain, her hair a striking blend of black and white, flowing gracefully in the wind.

The tips of her hair curled and shimmered with shifting colours that changed hues depending on the angle.

Despite her youthful appearance, looking not a day above 18, she possessed an aura of maturity. Standing at around 5’9", her slim figure was complemented by fair, healthy skin and a well-proportioned chest.

Her facial features were exquisitely beautiful, harmonizing perfectly with her delicate frame.

Suddenly, she sensed something and her closed eyes opened to reveal a pair of black pupils encased by black irises with very light blue accents.

"Isn’t this...Jay? Oh, they got to Slaifdein. Good thing I tipped those guys off that they were nearby."

Her gaze pierced through spacetime, facing a bit of interference since Jamie’s dimensional slash had left behind a huge portion of space destroyed.

But before she could look away, Jamie suddenly raised his head and she instantly realised he had sensed her.

"Of course, he would."

She smiled lightly, before turning her gaze away and muttering.

"Considering I did ruin their date; I should make it up to them later. I left Slaifdein in a hurry since I wanted to check this place out before the Realm Gate closed, but in the end, it was a bust."

Heaving an exasperated sigh, the woman shook her shoulders and unfurled a single pair of wings.

The Left wing, was a pitch-black colour, contrasting with the white of the left side of her hair. It was a batlike reverse wing with shifting and swirling runes etched on it.

The right one, was a pristine white colour, contrasting with the right side of her hair which was black. It was feathered and had gold lamé particles floating around it.

She dropped the spine in her hands and looked down at the mountain of corpses below her, before shrugging and flying away.

"Now then, just where did Angela drop that damn thing?"

Those words carried by the wind, were the last words ever spoken in this ruined Realm.

◇ ◇ ◇

Back on Neo Titania, Jamie landed on the observation deck, handing the Incomplete Hybrid’s soul to Miranda as he spoke.

"Please help him out with a new body. Also, he owes us for this."

He then pulled her into a hug and kissed her, before continuing.

"I’m going to Estea."

"Okay, I’ll see you later."

Miranda didn’t mind, as this was a normal routine for them. She usually dealt with the aftermath of situations like this while Jamie sometimes either stayed with her or left to go elsewhere.

If he left, she’d usually find him when she got back home, so she wasn’t bothered about anything.

Miranda began directing the Incomplete Hybrids on what to do like usual, while she watched Jamie disappear beyond the Spatial gate.

Little did she know, that on this particular occasion, that was going to be the last of Jamie she would see in 12,000 years.
