Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 157: Miranda Finally Snaps.
"This thing’s pretty good for crafting weapons and the like. Wouldn’t it be nice to just take Ikerth’s spot on the Intergalactic Market?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Nahh. It’s more trouble than it’s worth. I’d leave their metal to them. Besides, neither us nor Argent actually need it anyway."
Upon hearing Miranda’s response, Jamie placed his hand on his chin and pondered it for a few seconds before shrugging and tossing the ore over to Zotov’s Incarnation.
Miranda turned her attention to Terrion and spoke.
"I get what you’re saying but we honestly don’t care about your Planet’s resources."
Her earlier confusion at Terrion’s accusation of wanting to monopolize Ruindeum showed the disconnect between her intentions and how the Iron Sorcerer perceived them.
"Not interested? You’re planning to move us into your territory, filled with many of your powerful servants who could easily dominate Zotov in its weakened state, and you claim you don’t want our Ruindeum?"
Still, Terrion clearly wasn’t letting up. His level of mistrust was very high and even Zotov was chiding him to stop pressing the issue since Miranda had repeatedly stated she wasn’t interested already.
"..."
Miranda silently gazed at the man arguing with the planet’s incarnation, dismissing the projections surrounding her before scratching her head and sighing.
The moment they heard that sigh escape her lips, Jamie and Denise, whose attentions had been on the tablet where they were going through the photos Jamie and Miranda took on the beach in Ladoa, looked up with surprise etched on their faces.
""Uh—oh.""
Both of them echoed that one word and in the next second, magic power burst forth from Miranda’s body.
The Lunar building they were in exploded to bits, releasing shockwaves that rippled through the void of space and fractured spacetime.
Waves of cosmic energy, magic power and law energy were released into the surroundings, reaching as far as the planets of the nearby solar systems.
Miranda’s hair floated up and caught fire and the moment she raised her gaze, both Terrion and Zotov fell on their knees.
Zotov in particular, coughed out black blood, a clear indication that the planet had just suffered damage.
Damage, from having its Realm Suppression Laws forcefully broken.
Miranda’s power which she had been willingly keeping at bay poured out uncontrollably.
She lightly raised her hand, and the ambient flame law energy condensed rapidly, morphing into a colossal palm-shaped construct of purple flames, hundreds of thousands of kilometres in length and width—large enough to eclipse the size of planet Zotov multiple times over.
The skies darkened, and the heat of her flames, as intense as the star Laizuno, bore down on the planet’s inhabitants, easily breaking through their ozone layer and blasting them with searing heat.
Mountain snowcaps melted, oceans began to boil, tides went chaotic, clouds evaporated, and millions of people collapsed, instantly passing out under the oppressive heat and pressure of her energy.
"Denise!"
"On it!"
Denise didn’t need Jamie’s prompt.
She teleported from the moon and unleashed her own power, spreading it over Zotov—the only reason hundreds of millions weren’t instantly turned to ash by Miranda’s flames as the gigantic flame hand grasped the planet in its palm.
The Wolf Queen exerted her power to mitigate the disasters caused by the sudden halt of the planet’s rotation.
But even at her best, she could only reduce the impact of Miranda’s power.
Millions still perished as buildings were thrown around, tsunamis and ocean displacement wreaked havoc, the atmosphere was disrupted, and the planet’s magnetic field ceased generation.
All this occurred within a few seconds.
It was then that Miranda’s True Voice boomed out in the ears of Terrion and Zotov’s incarnation.
||I have been in a very bad mood lately, and you keep testing my limits, child.
You think I want your Ruindeum?
Do you think that thing really matters to me? It may be valuable to you lot but to me, it’s not different from a piece of scrap metal. ||
Miranda’s gaze turned cold as he slowly tightened her grip, almost as if she wanted to crush the planet.
||You have been taking quite the attitude with me and though I’ve been ignoring it, I’ve reached the limit of my patience. ||
Her gaze boring into Ikerth and crushing his soul under the weight of her power, she spoke.
||Know your place, you ant. And be grateful I didn’t squash your little planet. ||
Right after she said that, she turned her gaze to the side and glared seemingly into thin air before asking.
|What are you looking at? |
Many Race Lords and Kings had turned their gazes in Laizuno’s direction after sensing Miranda’s burst of power, but that one line had sent them all running.
At this point, Jamie who had been silent, finally got up and grabbed Miranda’s hand, lowering it while his other hand went to her wildly flaming hair and smoothened it down, quenching the flames in the process.
"That’s enough Miranda, any more and it’d defeat the point of everything we did here."
Jamie had known that despite how she had been acting all this while, Miranda had been angry at something.
It was a mild annoyance at first, but from the moment that she sensed the Dead Zone’s energy on Ikerth’s avatar, it had turned to full-blown anger.
However, she had been suppressing that anger and moving about like nothing happened.
The man had been planning to question her on what it was last night, but Denise’s presence had taken away the opportunity.
’There’s something else about this whole situation Mira isn’t telling me.
Starting from why she had been watching this planet for a century.’
Dornik had said that Miranda first appeared on Zotov a hundred years ago. And this then begged the question of Why?
Ikerth had controlled Zotov for far longer than that, so exactly what happened 100 years ago that made Miranda finally look in this planet’s direction.
There was also the fact that she had a force of her own with power comparable to the Liberation Front, she had spies in the Liberation Front and amongst the Elves.
It was almost as if she had wanted to deal with Ikerth on her own, silently, without anyone noticing.
However, Jamie was around now so she had taken this chance to bring him here and openly crush Ikerth’s endeavours in Zotov.
"Violet."
"?!"
Miranda instantly snapped out of her outburst when Jamie called her by her middle name and the pressure she exuded disappeared immediately, almost as if it had been a lie.
The flaming hand grasping Zotov disappeared and the gravity of the star in the centre of the Laizuno made it resume its orbit almost instantly.
Jamie then turned towards Terrion and Zotov on the floor before speaking.
"People with the necessary Solar, Spatial, and Gravitational authorities would be sent to move Laizuno when a compatible star has been found.
It would be in your best interest, that I do not hear about any unpleasant reports."
After saying that, he turned towards the planet and spoke.
|Denise, stay here and watch them. |
After giving that order, Jamie wrapped Miranda with his spatial law Authority and they vanished from the spot.
◇ ◇ ◇
Miranda truly did not care about the fate of the planet Zotov.
She just didn’t want anyone getting their hands on the Ruindeum, as it was something Race Kings saw as very valuable.
Even those Race Kings who had helped Dornick behind the scenes had done so primarily to get their hands on some of it.
To people below the High-Tier Deity Realm, Ruindeum was even more valuable. It was like gold.
Miranda did not want any one of them monopolizing it as Ikerth did for certain reasons. She was going to let the Zotovians continue selling off small amounts of it even after being incorporated into Argent if they wanted.
Now then, there was the question of why Miranda had simply not destroyed the planet.
She had shown that this was not beyond her a few minutes ago when she nearly squashed Zotov like a piece of rock salt.
The reason was simple; if she destroyed Zotov, she would lose track of where the Ruindeum was.
You would think destroying Zotov would wipe out the one planet in the Galaxy with more reserves of Ruindeum than every other planet in the Galaxy with the metal combined.
But things were NOT so easy.
