Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 155: The Hybrids’ ‘Daughter’
Get over here.
Jamie’s True Voice commanded the law of gravity, generating a pulling force that lifted Tasir’s body and moved it closer to him.
The Dragon engulfed his claws in flames and swung them down at Jamie, but Jamie’s speed was faster.
The man’s fingernails elongated into razor-sharp blades, and he used them to stab Tasir’s chest and pierce the Dragon’s heart.
"You would do for the cherry on top."
With those words, Jamie ripped out the massive dragon’s heart, revealing an organ half as tall as he was.
Now then, why was Jamie collecting the blood of the dragons? Why was he taking Tasir’s heart?
He didn’t just come here to massacre the dragons for no reason.
Jamie had just regained his Half-Deity realm power and it was still in the Inferior Stage. His goal was to take it to the Intermediate stage, hence why he was absorbing the blood of thousands of dragons and taking the Power Source of the most powerful Dragon here.
Sadly, even that was barely able to get him to the top of the Inferior Stage.
The man sighed with exasperation as he turned to glance at Dornik and Terrion, sending chills down both men’s spines.
After a second, Jamie shook his head and turned back to the condensed blood, transforming it into a blood fruit which floated beside Tasir’s heart as he said.
I’m done here. You guys handle the aftermath, it IS your battle, after all.
With those words, he vanished and the Transcendents could no longer sense his or Miranda’s presence on Eawin.
Dornik couldn’t even sense them anywhere on the planet!
Which was understandable because Jamie was not on Zotov.
◇ ◇ ◇
Jamie’s body floated in the void of space, letting the planet’s gravity carry him along with its rotation as it turned to face its Sun.
If there was one place where one could find the greatest concentration of ambient spatial laws, then it was obviously ’Space’ itself.
The void between celestial bodies filled with invisible dark matter.
Jamie went there to allow ambient spatial energy to flow into his body, awakening the dormant law comprehensions within him and unlocking the full power of his spatial authority.
As Spatial laws were not the only ambient laws present in space, Jamie was also doing the same for other laws as well.
Take the law of fire, for example. The Star, Laizuno, which Zotov orbited emanated waves of ambient fire law energy which Jamie absorbed silently.
This process was not instantaneous.
Jamie was absorbing enough energy that one could use to comprehend entire Basic Rank Universal laws.
He was not comprehending the laws as that’d take years to do, but like stated earlier, simply reviving the dormant comprehensions he already possessed.
While he was doing this, Miranda took a trip to the star itself, collecting some solar material and summoning Lillie whom she had take it back to the Orilan Realm to check for any similar Stars which could support life.
She also left temporarily to go discuss with one of the Main Entities of the Universe, to prevent any fuss when she wished to execute her plan to move Zotov.
This wasn’t because she could not deal with the fuss, but her method of dealing with it was considered particularly violent so they begged her to inform them before she did anything like this so they could warn anyone nearby to behave themselves.
Anyone who didn’t heed said warning usually ended up being turned to space dust.
It did skip Miranda’s mind that there were definitely those who were curious if Jamie had really returned, hence, she was caught off guard when many acquaintances came to bombard her with questions.
She ended up being delayed by a few more days, returning a week later to meet Jamie floating in the midpoint between Zotov and its moon.
When she got close, his eyes opened and he stretched his body before speaking.
You done?
Yeah. Didn’t think that stupid elf had called so many people over. Would have gone at a different time if I did.
The woman clicked her tongue as she spoke and Jamie only chuckled and patted her head when she said this.
I think they should be done with the aftermath now, let’s go back and sort out the remaining things.
Jamie stretched once more as he willed the spatial energy around him to wrap around them and warp them down to Zotov.
They reappeared in Whitemere City on the Alenlet Continent, right inside Miranda’s penthouse.
However, they both sensed that there was someone else already in the apartment when they entered and this had them curious.
They followed the scent of food that led to the kitchen and when they got there, they were met with the sight of a beautiful emerald green-eyed woman with wolf ears peeking through her dark silver hair, setting down a pot of what appeared to be chicken sauce.
"Oh, you’ve returned. That was earlier than expected."
"...Denise?"
Jamie called out the name of the woman with a hint of surprise in his voice, not because he wasn’t sure who she was, but because he was just surprised at how much she had grown since he last saw her.
"Good to see you, Lord Jamie." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Miranda’s brows furrowed when she heard Denise’s words, and she ran her left hand through her hair before speaking.
"Ditch the formalities, Denise."
After saying that, she turned around and left the room, while Jamie raised a brow in confusion, wondering what ’formalities’ Miranda was talking about.
His question was answered in the next moment when Denise casually set down her apron, and turned off the gas, before proceeding to dash over to Jamie and throw her arms around him.
’Oh...someone’s missed me.’
Jamie’s lips curled up into a smile as he moved his hand and patted Denise’s head, not too bothered by the woman’s sudden shift in demeanour.
"Haha, you’re all grown up now but you’re still acting like a little girl."
Denise buried her face in his chest, her voice muffled as she spoke.
"I can’t help it. You’ve been gone for too long."
The Hybrid didn’t exactly consider 10,000 years long, but then he remembered that was not the case for Denise so he remained silent.
Chuckling softly, he moved his hand in gentle strokes through her hair as he spoke.
"It hasn’t been that long, Denise. But I missed you too."
Denise pulled back slightly, just enough to look up at him as she pouted with her lower lip jutting out exaggeratedly.
"It has been long, and you’d make it up to me."
Jamie only laughed and squeezed her cheeks, before asking her about the meal she was cooking.
"Can you make that famous pasta of yours? I’m filled with a sudden craving for it."
"You’re helping."
"Yes, yes, I’m helping."
The man agreed, ruffling her hair one last time before they moved back into the kitchen.
As they worked side by side, the room filled with the sounds of chopping, sizzling, and laughter; with Denise recounting a great many tales of happenings in the past few millennia to him.
She continued to act like a spoiled child, demanding extra attention and occasionally sneaking tastes of the food, while Jamie indulged her every whim with a smile.
Midway, Miranda who went to take a shower returned, having changed into more comfortable loungewear.
She sat at the counter, looking at Denise and Jamie before shaking her head with a sigh.
’If anyone on the Interstellar Stage were to see this scene, their eyes might pop out of their sockets.’
It was honestly not an exaggeration to say this.
To think that THE Denise Cohen who was known for her stoic demeanour would be here acting like a bubbly little child.
Couldn’t blame her though, as that was what she was to Jamie.
The reason why Ikerth and his clan hated Jamie’s guts could be tied to an event that occurred 100,000 years ago, when Jamie had beaten the living daylights out of all of them, bound their spirits and forcefully took control of their powers.
He had also deprived many of the weaker Dragons, Tasir and Pirantu included, of their Innate Draconic powers, cutting down their potential immensely.
Take Pirantu for example, the woman had only a 1-5% chance of ever advancing in power past the Mid-Tier Deity realm.
That’s if she ever got to the Superior Stage in the first place.
Tasir had been a Superior Mid-Tier Deity for 50,000 years, and his chances of ever becoming a High Tier Deity only diminished with each passing year.
These were just 2 cases, out of 19 generations of Xagem Red Dragons.
Now then, there was a Reason Jamie had done this.
On a normal day, he would have ignored the Dragons and let them do whatever they wanted while he went his merry way, but on this occasion, he went out of his way to attack them.
The reason was that Ikerth and his group had targeted a planet where Miranda had found a weak werewolf child who had been scarred by the war that occurred when the Dragon’s forces clashed with the denizens of that planet.
Said child had also lost their real parents and family during that battle and would have died if Miranda hadn’t opted to look around the ruined planet.
Said child, was the dark-silver-haired Werewolf standing before her—Denise.
Having been raised by the Hybrids since her early teenage years, Denise was pretty much considered to be their adopted daughter at this point.
She even had silver hair to match theirs; although this wasn’t her real hair colour. It was normally black, but she made it silver for obvious reasons.
Jamie, Miranda and Denise sat around the table in the dimly lit dining room, the aroma of freshly cooked pasta wafting through the air, mingling with the subtle scent of lavender from a nearby candle.
Denise poured some red wine into their glasses, its colour resembling that of blood and could be mistaken as such if one didn’t perceive its scent.
While laughing, she recounted a funny story based on a true-life event, her eyes sparkling with amusement, while Jamie leaned in, listening intently, a relaxed smile on his face.
The sound of clinking cutlery and soft jazz playing in the background created a harmonious, intimate atmosphere.
Outside, the night was calm, with a gentle breeze rustling the leaves.
