Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 124: Emlihn and Eliroth II
"Don’t worry about them. Just keep Jamie company for a bit."
Miranda got up to her feet before transforming her face into the one Emlihn used amongst the Elves.
Seeing this, Emlihn quickly placed her hand on her forehead and extracted some of her memories, crystalizing them in a memory gem which she passed to Miranda.
"Thanks."
Miranda tossed the crystal and absorbed it into her hands, raising a light brow when she heard the topic of their discussion before leaving the room.
As she left, Jamie gestured for Emlihn to take a seat, while noticing that the three spies who had been watching the building suddenly disappeared from his perception.
’They’re dead. Mira’s got ’em.’
"Anyway, Emlihn. Mind telling me how the past few millennia have been? I’m curious about how you managed to break through."
Emlihn nodded with a smile on her face as she sat down and began conversing with Jamie.
◇ ◇ ◇
Miranda walked out of the restaurant while muttering something about not being too good at space as she used spatial distortions to crush the necks of the three spies and lift their bodies up with her telekinetic abilities.
She then teleported back to the World Tree and kicked the door to the meeting room, but by the time the door opened, the three spies had throned tree branches wrapped around their necks, making it look like they had been strangled to death by the branches rather than the fact that Miranda had crushed the space around their necks.
With a wave of her hands, she tossed their bodies onto the table in the centre of the room before glaring at Sanev and speaking.
"I believe I’ve told you that I am not a fan of your desire for control."
She flared her aura as she spoke, and sensing this, Eliroth quickly came to a realisation.
’That’s not Emlihn! That’s Lady Miranda!’
The man knew his twin sister very well, so even though no one else could tell that they were seeing a totally different person than the one who had left earlier, he could tell.
"What is the meaning of this, Emlihn?!"
"I should be asking you that, fool? Why did you send people to spy on me? Are you a freaking stalker?
If you’ve got a problem with me then let’s hash it out now!"
"How dare you talk to me like that you child?!"
"I’d talk to you old fart however the fuck I want until you give me an explanation why you have been spying on me for the past few months!"
The two of them flared their auras wildly as if trying to intimidate the other with their power. Miranda slammed her hand on the table and it shattered into splinters.
The splinters then floated up and pointed at Sanev like spears, each one having the energy of the law of wood around it.
Sanev took this as a direct challenge and roused his law energy, ready to attack her while the other Elves just watched in silence.
’Emlihn’ had always been one of the strongest Zotovian elves, and her position of Elder had been earned by that strength of hers, despite the fact that she was much younger than all the others.
She had once beaten them up when they tried to surpass her in the past and even after Ikerth’s invasion began, she was part of the reason why the Zotovian elves were able to reach a compromise with the invading Elves and dragons and prevent themselves from being slaughtered.
However, they all knew she had a temper, and they usually avoided provoking her.
Sanev’s action of sending spies to watch her movements was one of the things that provoked this elf.
Hence, why they were not too surprised that she finally flipped out in rage.
None of the Elves present, even the Non-Zotovians, sided with Sanev as they were fearful of her wrath, especially now that they could see she had become a Transcendent.
"Don’t test my patience or I’ll turn you to EXP for my next level up."
That was one hell of a roundabout way to threaten a man, but it worked for Miranda.
"You dare!"
Just as Sanev was about to attack her, Eliroth suddenly jumped in and used his magic power to block the Elven Merchant’s attack, while doing the same to the one that ’Emlihn’ had unleashed.
The shockwaves from their attacks’ collisions with his barriers knocked the others off their seats but the man could not care less now.
"Both of you! Cool your heads!"
"Tell that to-"
"Emlihn! Come with me!"
Eliroth suddenly cut her off, grabbed her hands and began dragging her out of the room while telling the other elves to calm Sanev who still wanted to fight.
He then took her to another room and created an isolation barrier to prevent any eavesdropping before letting go of her and speaking with a vastly different tone.
"Lady Miranda, greetings."
Miranda just acknowledged him with a nod, before quickly stating her intentions.
"I came to get something from this World Tree’s vault. Also, you and your sister will be taking a leave from Jopia this afternoon."
Eliroth followed Miranda as she exited the room from its other door while asking her where they were to go.
"I’m going to need you two to do something for me on Bliteon. You’d have to be careful as Tasir is currently there."
The half-elf narrowed his eyes when he heard Tasir’s name, before clicking his tongue as he muttered something about that ’lizard being troublesome’.
The two of them walked down a long circular flight of stairs, encountering many elves on the way who just bowed and gave way for them to pass.
As they walked, Miranda made sure to talk about ’going to Bliteon this afternoon’, so the other Elves would hear and know that ’Emlihn’ would not be around.
They reached the Vault of the World Tree, and when the Vault guardian emerged to check who wanted to enter, Miranda glared at him and he shrunk back in fear.
"So, Lady Miranda. Exactly what is it you came for?"
Eliroth questioned this after he and Miranda had entered the vault and she just stretched and pointed at a blade that was hidden deep inside the vault.
"It’s one of my old swords. I dropped it some centuries ago when I passed through here. I was chasing an annoying witch and she kept on hopping from planet to planet."
The Half-elf just shook his head silently, not knowing whether to be surprised about Miranda chasing someone from planet to planet, or the fact that there was someone who could evade Miranda for that long.
They reached the end of the Vault’s deepest Layer and retrieved the Crystal Sword that was emitting cold frost energy.
Once she got the blade and tossed it into her subspace, she then used the Vault’s rear exit, scaring off the guardian there as well before leaving the World Tree as a whole.
She had Eliroth go pack up anything he needed before the two of them got on an Airship, under the gazes of many elves, before taking off and heading in the direction of Bliteon.
On the Airship, Miranda opened her subspace and brought out a box with spatial expansion applied to its insides. It was very heavy, and Eliroth was quite curious about what was inside, about to open it when the woman revealed to him that it was filled with a building-sized magic stone containing enough energy equivalent to 3 billion kilotons of TNT.
Her words killed all his curiosity and he quickly put it away into his Inventory skill.
Once they had gone out of Inholin, she told Eliroth to continue the course before teleporting back into the restaurant room where Jamie and Emlihn were.
"Emlihn. I’ve created an alibi for you and given you a little vacation trip with your brother.
I want you to go to Bliteon and find out everything Tasir is planning. Once you’ve done that, I need you to go and give that information to Dornik on Alenlet. Tell him to carry on with the blitzkrieg attack plan.
We’d do back to Ikerth what he did to Zotov originally. Also, inform him to start with the Continent of Ladoa."
Those were Miranda’s first words when she teleported into the room and hearing it, Emlihn couldn’t help but retort.
"Lady Miranda, that’s just a work trip, not a vacation."
The half-elf shook her head with a sigh while Jamie just chuckled lightly as he finished the meal he had ordered.
As for Miranda, she kept on talking like she hadn’t just heard Emlihn’s words.
"I gave your brother an explosive, so when you’re done relaying Tasir’s plans to Dornik, I need you to take it to the centre of Bliteon and maybe forget a matchstick on the floor near an open gas cylinder that’s right on top the explosive."
"Just tell her to blow the centre of the continent off the map."
Jamie couldn’t help but chip in as he felt Miranda was going about things in a convoluted manner, but the woman pointed out that Tasir would notice their energy residues and trace it to the twins if they did it themselves, hence why she provided them with explosives.
"Alright, scurry along now."
Despite having been given orders from Miranda, Emlihn looked to Jamie first for confirmation and only when the man nodded did she bow and leave the room.
"So, what next?"
Miranda returned to her normal appearance and then picked up the menu before replying.
"Tour the city, maybe? Then at night, we’d pay Sanev a visit."
"Sanev?"
"Our first assassination target."
Jamie silently acknowledged Miranda’s words with a nod before pulling out his phone and scrolling through it while the woman called for a waiter to order a meal.
