Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 70: Your Source Of Gossip
Chapter 70: Your Source Of Gossip
In one of the living rooms of a beachfront villa, Sawyer stood by the window, gazing out at the blue sea. His hand was stuffed in his trouser pocket, and he was deep in thought, ignoring the knock on the door behind him.
"Sir, I apologize for opening the door without your permission." Ronan’s apologetic tone broke the silence, prompting Sawyer to turn and look toward the door.
Taking a deep sigh, Sawyer walked over to the seating area and gestured for Ronan to join him.
"How did you know I was here?" Sawyer asked. He hasn’t informed anyone about his sudden arrival in the town.
He did not intend to visit this town initially; the trip was merely his excuse to spend time with Abigail as she visited her Grandma. Meanwhile, his staff in the capital believed he was spending the weekend at his cabin in the Starfall Mountains.
"Vincent told me you were here, so I rushed to meet you." Ronan pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose before sitting opposite Sawyer.
"Since when did Vincent become close enough to you to gossip about my schedule?" Sawyer asked, lazily leaning against the sofa and gazing at the door, wondering if Vincent was waiting outside.
After a few seconds of silence and no movement from outside, he decided to save his scolding for later.
"Sir, Vincent and I stay together in this house and share info from time to time. So, he shared the info to alert me about your arrival," Ronan replied faintly.
Sawyer didn’t respond and instead ignored Ronan. He picked up his cell phone to check if Abigail had contacted him. If she had, he would need to rush to the nursing home to pick her up. He was starting to feel bored waiting for her.
However, he found nothing but a few reports from Ethan. His mood suddenly dropped when he saw several texts from his Grandpa demanding that he visit him at home. To make matters worse, his father’s assistant had also called him.
’Why is everyone looking for me? Did something happen at the house?’ he wondered, a thin line forming on his forehead.
After a few seconds of checking his cell phone, he decided to ignore their messages. Instead, Sawyer opened his messaging app to write something to Abigail.
Just as he was about to type, Ronan distracted him. "Sir, how was your date at the cabin with Miss Abigail?"
Surprised by Ronan’s unexpected question, he frowned. "How did you know I was with Abby?"
Sawyer’s displeased tone made Ronan feel like he was in trouble; after all, this was supposed to be a secret.
’Hell! I need to do something about my curiosity!’ Ronan silently scolded himself as he searched for a way to escape his boss’s fury. Suddenly, a face appeared in his mind.
"Sir, well, Ethan is the one who shared this information with me and prompted me to ask you. I’m just curious about your progress with Miss Abigail. Have you confessed your feelings to her?"
’What the hell am I doing? Why can’t I stop asking about Miss Abigail and Boss’s progress?’ Ronan felt like he wanted to vanish. But he couldn’t. Now, his boss’s expression looked dark. He could only silently pray to accept his punishment. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Realizing there was no point in hiding the truth from them, Sawyer thought they would eventually find out—especially Ethan, who seemed to know everything.
He took another deep breath before looking at Ronan, who was intently waiting for him to respond.
"I can’t have a relationship with her," Sawyer sincerely expressed. At least for now, Abigail was still traumatized from her past relationship, and what she needed was his help to forget the pain her ex-fiancé had caused her.
"What the...? Miss Abigail rejected you? Seriously, sir?" Ronan gasped in shock upon hearing the news.
Sawyer didn’t respond; instead, he looked at Ronan, puzzled. Why did he think that?
"Wah! Why did Miss Abigail do that? You need to tell her about your true identity, sir." Ronan couldn’t believe there was a woman in this country who would reject a rich and handsome bachelor like Sawyer Jones.
"Did you not hear anything from Ethan about Abby?" Sawyer asked, believing Ronan knew about Abigail’s breakup with her ex-fiancé.
Ronan was taken aback by Sawyer’s question. "What happened to Miss Abigail?"
Sawyer shook his head. He was too lazy to explain to Ronan about Abigail’s ex-fiancé.
The more he thought about it, the more he wanted to ruin that bastard’s life. How dare that man leave such a deep scar on Abigail’s heart?
"You should ask your gossip source about it. I don’t have time to discuss this with you, Ronan," Sawyer said, resting his head while staring at the ceiling. His calm, deep blue eyes remained fixed above. He was too tired to talk further with Ronan.
Noticing that Sawyer was ignoring him, Ronan searched for a way to cheer him up. After a moment of thought, a smile emerged on his lips.
"Sir, I know exactly how you feel. I recently faced rejection from the woman I was pursuing, which hurt me badly. When that happened..."
Sawyer was rendered speechless. He closed his eyes, trying to ignore Ronan’s rambling.
He hadn’t been rejected outright; Abigail had simply asked for time, stating it wouldn’t be fair to him if she accepted him right away. Recalling their morning conversation only made him miss her more. He wanted to see her now.
’Is she still talking to her grandma? Why hasn’t she called me yet?’ Sawyer felt impatient as he waited.
Just as he was about to stand up, Ronan’s words interrupted his thoughts.
"Sir, let’s find some comfort food to cheer you up after Miss Abigail turned you down. Food is the one source of happiness you need right now," Ronan said excitedly.
Sawyer sat up straight, his sharp eyes fixed intensely on Ronan. His piercing gaze was enough for Ronan to sense that his boss wasn’t pleased with the idea.
"Ronan Peters, are you tired of work? Say another word, and you will lose your job. Forever—"
