Chapter 65: She Might Think I’m The Cheater

Abigail immediately sat down beside him and understood what he meant. Indeed, looking at the scenery from this spot was a completely different experience.

"You can meditate or do yoga on this stone, but I suggest doing it in the summer. The temperature is already quite cold now," he said, sharing his thoughts while imagining their second trip here, hoping she had already accepted his feelings.

"If you bring me here, I will do that even if the temperature is cold," she said casually.

Sawyer couldn’t hide his happiness hearing her words. His smile widened. In the future, visiting this place with her was exactly what he wished for.

"I will arrange that, Abby."

Abigail and Sawyer talk about many things. And without realizing it, they spent their entire morning at the river, chatting and flirting.

...

Near eleven o’clock, they were driving out away from the cabin.

The distance from their current location is not too far, and it will be only forty minutes before they arrive at the Autumn Garden Nursing House in Orange Town.

Abigail was surprised that the cabin location was remote and far from the main road.

They drove through the gravel road for about fifteen minutes before finally reaching the main road. However, fifteen minutes felt too short for Abigail because the scenery was so beautiful.

After passing a gate marked "Private property," Sawyer had to exit the car to open it manually.

"I can’t believe this cabin is so far from the main road," Abigail said once Sawyer re-entered the car. "How do you find this place?"

"A friend owes me money, so he paid me for this property when he knew I loved this place." He explained.

"Wow, that’s interesting," Abigail commented. She still couldn’t move on from the scenery in the cabin and the nature surrounding it. "How about security in that place?"

"A team of guards is guarding the whole area around this cabin. The area the team guards is around a few hundred acres. The team also cleaned it up for me. However, since I visited without advance notice, they only had time to ensure the electricity and water were working, not to clean the whole place," Sawyer explained, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.

"I see..."

As a few minutes passed, they chatted about various topics until Sawyer’s car arrived at Autumn Garden Nursing House.

Abigail was about to get out of the car when Sawyer stopped her. "Abby, should I greet your grandma?" he offered.

Instantly, Abigail shook her head in refusal. How could she possibly let him meet her Grandma now? When her Grandma found out that she already had a close relationship with someone after breaking off her engagement with Ryland, her Grandma might think she was the one who had cheated.

Seeing her refusal, Sawyer felt disappointed but said nothing more. He simply smiled, understanding her decision. He had no intention of forcing her.

"Sawyer, I’m really sorry. Are you disappointed that you can’t meet my Grandma?" Abigail asked, noticing the faint smile on his face, though she could sense the disappointment behind it. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

"Yeah, a little. But don’t worry about me, Abby. I told you before that I’ll wait until you’re ready. Even if you stop me from meeting your Grandma now, I won’t give up on pursuing you," he replied, his eyes shining even brighter.

Abigail was starting to become immune to his persistence to express his affection. Sawyer had mentioned the same thing several times throughout their morning by the river.

"You think too far ahead, Sawyer," Abigail said with a faint laugh, amused by his earnest expression. "I’m stopping you from meeting my grandma now because she might scold me if she sees you..."

Sawyer raised an eyebrow, confused by her words. "Why would she scold you because of me?" he asked.

"My Grandma doesn’t know I broke off my engagement with that vile man. If I bring you to meet her now and at the same time tell her I’ve broken my engagement, she might think I was the one who had cheated, not Ryland."

Abigail sighed silently, worried about how to tell her grandmother. She feared her Grandma would be shocked to learn about the situation.

Sawyer quickly understood her hesitation. He nodded in agreement; it was better not to introduce him to her Grandma at that moment.

"I see. I’m sorry, Abby, I forgot about that."

"It’s fine," Abigail replied, a relieved smile appearing as she noticed Sawyer’s mood had lifted. "One of my goals for coming here is to check my Grandma’s health and explain everything to her. Because that evil Ryland forced me to return to his company by using my Grandma as an excuse."

"What is wrong with that man? How dare he do something so low?" Sawyer blurts out, struggling to contain his anger at Ryland Wood’s actions.

Abigail smiled as she watched Sawyer get angry at Ryland. She felt safe with Sawyer, someone who could protect her in the future.

"Hmm, he is a jerk! But don’t worry—I can handle him. He will never act like that again, or he will end up in jail," Abigail stated, her eyes sparkling as she imagined how she would take action if that man tried to break their agreement.

"Abby, this time I’m serious," Sawyer still worries about that man trying to harass her. He looked deeply into her eyes. When he noticed her unwavering gaze, he continued, "If that man tries to do anything to you, please tell me. Don’t face him alone. I will help you deal with him."

Sawyer’s sincerity surprised Abigail. Although she was confident that Ryland wouldn’t cause problems again, she nodded to acknowledge Sawyer’s concern.

"Sure, I will." She smiled at him.

"Thank you for looking out for me, Abby," Sawyer said, relieved after expressing anger toward her ex-fiancé.

Abigail didn’t linger; she said goodbye to Sawyer and promised to call him after visiting her grandmother.

Once Sawyer’s car was out of sight, Abigail entered the nursing home. Instead of going straight to her grandmother’s room, she first sought out Aunty Rosa. She wants to uncover the identity of the person paying for her grandmother’s medical bills.
