Chapter 64: Advance Birthday Gift

Abigail stifled a smile at the thought of Sawyer going into a women’s clothing store to buy her a coat.

However, she was slightly bothered by the idea of receiving such an expensive gift from him. She knew the coat she was wearing was not cheap.

"Thank you, Sawyer. I really like this coat; it fits me perfectly, and the color is my favorite. I hope you don’t mind if I keep it. I mean, I will return your money—please send me your bank information," she said earnestly, looking at him.

Sawyer paused, taken aback by her words. He stopped and faced her.

"Abby, I’m glad you like the coat I chose, but you don’t need to return the money. It’s not expensive if you’re worried about the price."

"But, Sawyer..." Abigail began, but he cut her off.

"Abby, please don’t refuse, huh!? Consider this coat an early birthday present from me." His tone and expression made it clear that he wouldn’t accept a refusal.

Abigail smiled faintly at him.

"Sawyer, my birthday is still a long way off. But if you insist on giving me a gift in advance, I will gladly accept it. However, I will also give you a birthday present later, and I hope you won’t refuse that. How!?"

Sawyer’s tense expression softened into a smile. He nodded happily, "I will gladly accept it, Abby." He was excited about receiving a gift from her.

...

They continued their walk, and Abigail’s attention was entirely captivated by the stunning scenery around her.

As they approached the river, the sound of flowing water became more pronounced. Soon, she could see large mountains in the distance, with a river about three meters wide separating her from the forest on the opposite bank.

The water flowed swiftly, creating tiny ripples as it splashed against the large rocks scattered along the riverbank. It resembled a layered waterfall cascading down from the heights to their level.

Not far from where they were standing, a natural pool of clear water seemed to invite her to swim there.

"Wow! Sawyer, the view is incredible... so stunning!" Abigail murmured. The clarity of the flowing water allowed her to see the riverbed, and it made her long to jump in and play, reminding her of her childhood when her mother was still with her.

"Yeah, this place will look and sound magical once fall officially arrives. All the greenery will transform into beautiful, lively, and colorful autumn colors. And the birds will be chirping like an ensemble song," Sawyer glanced at her, happy to see her smile reflected in her eyes.

He put his hands in his jacket pocket while his eye fixed on her exposed, soft, radiant neck. Looking at how alluring she was with her exposed neck, worry slowly appeared in his mind.

’Did she realize that showing her long and sexy neck like this could cause a man to go wild and crazy?’ He wondered worriedly while trying to find a way to tell her not to style her hair into a bun if she appeared in public.

Sawyer shook his head lightly, trying to suppress the jealousy slowly creeping into his heart. He tore his gaze from her neck and focused on the water before him while attempting to dismiss his desire to pull her into his arms.

"Yeah, I can picture that," Abigail said as she noticed a dense tree in the distance.

The trees around them weren’t just from one variety; they were made up of many different types of wood. She imagined that the green leaves would turn yellow, red, brown, and even golden, making her wish she could revisit this place when fall officially arrived.

However, she quickly buried that hope deep in her heart. It would be awkward to ask him to bring her here again, wouldn’t it?

Abigail walked closer to the water and reached out to touch it as soon as her hand made contact, a chill spread throughout her body, causing her to shiver.

’Wow! So cold! How is this place already freezing? The fall would only arrive a month or so from now,’ She quickly dismissed the idea of swimming in the natural pool.

"So, Abby. Tell me. You like this place?" Sawyer’s voice called out from behind her.

Abigail turned to see him and was surprised to find him standing beside her. She nodded to respond to him.

"Yes, I like it. This place is beautiful and peaceful. The view is unforgettable. It’s the perfect escape from the hectic city views and life. Now I get why you love to spend time here, in nature, Sawyer." She truly envied his lifestyle.

Sawyer nodded slightly as he absorbed her words.

"Abby, we should come here again in a couple of weeks. This place will make you fall in love..." His voice trailed off.

He didn’t realize it but found it hard to continue saying ’Love’ as his heart raced, sensing he was on the verge of confessing his feelings for her again.

A bitter laugh echoed in Sawyer’s mind. Since last night, he had struggled to suppress his desire to pull her into his arms and declare to the world that Abigail Snow was his girlfriend, his woman.

’Calm down, man! Calm yourself down!’ he reminded himself.

When he noticed her turning to look at him with her beautiful gray eyes, he quickly diverted his gaze to the massive boulder resembling a flat concrete slab near the water. But a second later, he looks at her again when she calls his name.

"You know what, Sawyer? I don’t need to wait two weeks to fall in love with..." Abigail’s voice trailed off when she noticed his eyes shining brightly and gently staring back at her. She swallowed hard before finishing her sentence, "...with this place."

Abigail felt her heartbeat racing, the loud thump of "badam-badam" echoing in her chest as she realized that her words sounded like she had just accepted his feelings to become his girlfriend.

’Gosh! Stop thinking about it, Abby!’ She tries to scold herself inwardly.

Sawyer saw her face slowly turn red, and he began to guess what she might be thinking.

"Let’s sit over there, Abby," Sawyer said, trying to distract himself from guessing. He walked toward the large flat boulder and sat on the edge, letting his feet dangle above the clear water below.

He looked up and patted the stone beside him when he felt her presence. "Come. Sit here; the view from this spot is one in a million."fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
