Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Having Relations

Her expression was gentle, but her voice was laced with displeasure.

Justin Kane looked into her clear eyes and asked calmly, "Why the sudden question?"

Nina Thorne’s lips curved slightly. "It’s nothing. I’m just curious. Well, have you?"

"That depends on what it is."

Justin Kane’s low voice was magnetic and gentle. "If it was something that would harm you, then of course not."

Nina froze, staring at him. She saw a glimmer of sincerity on his face.

’That made sense.’

’A man of Justin Kane’s character would never stoop to something like that.’

"That’s good, then."

Seeing she had lost her earlier edge, Justin Kane lifted his gaze. "Now, can you tell me what’s wrong?"

Nina didn’t hide anything.

She told him everything about the actor being taken care of, her elegant brows knitting together. "If that’s the case, the incident with the drunkard probably had nothing to do with anyone from the crew."

’So that’s what this was about.’

A shadow flickered in Justin Kane’s eyes. ’And here I thought she’d discovered the secret I’ve kept for ten years.’

’Looks like I overestimated her.’

"As for the drunkard, it was indeed someone else."

Justin Kane’s expression was indifferent, as if he already knew who was behind it.

Nina Thorne pressed, "Who?"

Justin Kane’s thin lips curled slightly. "Who saved you that night?"

Nina Thorne’s almond-shaped eyes widened.

Cole Kane!

’So it was him.’

’And to think I believed he’d changed.’

’A leopard can’t change its spots!’

"The genes in your family are certainly a mixed bag," Nina Thorne said through gritted teeth, holding back a harsher insult.

Her comment made Justin Kane chuckle. He traced his index finger down her pert nose. "Your taste in men could use some improvement."

Nina was speechless for a moment before retorting, not wanting to back down, "Well, you’re excellent, aren’t you? There’s nothing wrong with my taste now."

At her words, Justin Kane gazed at her, a smile quietly spreading across his face.

’As long as she’s satisfied.’

’This pampered, willful little temper of hers is becoming more and more like her old self.’

’There’s still plenty of time. I’m sure she’ll soon be able to be her true self again—the free-spirited, proud young lady she once was.’

...

After eating, Nina Thorne had Justin Kane take her back to the hotel arranged by the crew to pack up the rest of her things.

At the hotel entrance, Justin Kane suddenly received an overseas call.

It was from Vanessa Walsh.

Nina Thorne said considerately, "It’s okay. I’ll go up and pack by myself. You can wait for me in the lobby."

Justin Kane’s pupils contracted slightly. He patted her head. "Such a good girl."

’He really is treating me like a child.’

She was getting more and more used to his actions, but sometimes, when he did something intimate, her heart couldn’t help but race.

Nina Thorne got into the elevator and went up to her floor.

With a BEEP, the door unlocked.

Just as it opened, a figure suddenly rushed out, forcibly pulled her into the room, and slammed the door shut, making her scream in terror.

Terrified, she struggled with all her might, her hands flying back to hit and scratch the person holding her, even trying to sink her teeth into him.

Soon her mouth was covered, and a familiar voice sounded from above her. "Nina Thorne, don’t scream. It’s me."

Nina Thorne recognized the owner of the voice. Her body stiffened, and she calmed down.

After being released, she turned to see Cole Kane’s familiar face. A surge of fury ignited within her, and she angrily slapped him across the face.

"Are you insane?"

"Pestering me again and again like this, what the hell do you want?"

Nina Thorne’s expression was cold and severe, a look Cole Kane had never seen before. He could even see disgust in her furious eyes.

The rage that had swelled in Cole Kane’s chest when he was slapped instantly dissipated. He apologized in a hoarse voice, "I’m sorry. I scared you."

"But there are some things I don’t understand. I just wanted to see you and ask you about them."

Nina Thorne’s chest heaved. Remembering the incident with the drunkard, she gritted her teeth coldly. "I have nothing to say to you. Get out."

’Facing a person like him any longer is just more dangerous.’

’First, he drugged me and tried to have his way with me, pulling that stunt to create an irreversible situation.’

’Then he deliberately hired a drunkard to harass me just so he could stage a ’hero saves the damsel’ scene.’

’He’s manipulative and beyond redemption!’

’I must have been blind back then, chasing after him, desperate to marry him no matter what, only to end up battered and broken.’

’Thinking about it now, how could I have been so blind to the outstanding Justin Kane? All for the sake of some ridiculous life-saving favor, I fell in love with a scumbag!’

’If that wasn’t being blind, what was it?’

"Nina Thorne, do you have to be so heartless to me?"

Cole Kane grabbed Nina Thorne’s hand just as she reached for the door, his grip tightening. "I’ve already apologized to you, and I promised to treat you well from now on. What more do you want me to do for you to forgive me?"

At first, he thought he didn’t love Nina Thorne that much.

His past affection and indulgence toward her were all for the sake of their marriage alliance, just to get her grandfather’s support.

But when Nina Thorne insisted on breaking the engagement and signed the papers, his heart ached so fiercely.

Realizing he was about to lose her, he felt an unprecedented fear.

"I told you before, if you want my forgiveness, you can die first!" Nina Thorne’s eyes were icy and ruthless. She struggled to shake him off and tried to open the door to leave.

Just as the door opened, he slammed it shut with one hand.

Nina Thorne tried several times, but failed.

The difference in strength between them was too great. If he didn’t let her go, she had no hope of leaving.

Nina Thorne glared at him fiercely. "Cole Kane, are you trying to do what you did last time? If you dare, I will never let you get away with it."

Stung by the heartlessness in her eyes, Cole Kane suddenly wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug, asking in a lonely, helpless voice, "What do I have to do to make you come back to me?"

"Nina Thorne, I really know I was wrong. I’ll change. Anything you don’t like, I’ll change it, okay?"

’Too little, too late.’

’She didn’t need this kind of hypocritical affection.’

Nina Thorne remained unmoved. Since she couldn’t break free, she simply stood ramrod straight, a sarcastic sneer playing on her lips.

"Deliberately arranging for someone to harass me, then showing up to ’save’ me and trying to make me feel grateful... is this your way of admitting you’re wrong?"

She clearly felt Cole Kane’s body tremble.

Cole Kane froze. He slowly let go, staring at her blankly. "What... What are you talking about?"

"The whole scene with the drunkard harassing me near the hotel that night... you arranged all of it, didn’t you?"

Nina Thorne’s face was bone-chillingly cold, her gaze so sharp it could almost pierce through him.

Cole Kane said hoarsely, "You know?"

Nina Thorne’s lips twitched violently. "Cole Kane, get the hell away from me. The sight of you just makes me sick."

A sharp pain pierced Cole Kane’s heart. His thoughts instantly turned dark and twisted. The muscle below his eye twitched violently as he grabbed Nina Thorne’s shoulders like a madman and shook her hard several times.

"So you deliberately seduced my older brother just to disgust me?"

"Nina Thorne, my brother has always been cold to you! If you hadn’t deliberately seduced him, why would he ever pay attention to you?"

Cole Kane’s eyes were bloodshot, and he looked completely deranged.

’Serena was right. There is something shady going on between Nina and my brother.’

’He saw it with his own eyes that night. His brother had his arm around her!’

’The thought of Nina doing something so disgusting made him want to take her right then and there!’

Watching his out-of-control state, Nina Thorne was startled, her eyes widening in shock.

...

Meanwhile, Justin Kane was still in the lobby on a video call with Vanessa Walsh.

He raised his hand to look at the astronomical watch on his wrist, his thick brows knitting slightly.

’It’s been almost half an hour, and she still hasn’t come down.’

On the other end of the video, Vanessa Walsh clearly saw the worry on his face and teased, "Kane, you’re in deep. Caring about her this much... you’ve definitely fallen for her."

"No, I should say, you’ve finally gotten your wish."

Justin Kane’s eyes narrowed slightly. "I’m just worried she’s in danger."

Vanessa replied, "Even so, that’s only because you care about her."

Hearing this, Assistant Cheney offered, "Sir, I’ll go up and take a look."

Justin Kane nodded, then shook his head. He said to Vanessa Walsh, "I’ll tell you the details later."

"Okay, go on. If I were you, I’d express my feelings properly." Vanessa Walsh smiled and shook her head, genuinely happy for him.

’After all this time, the old tree is finally blossoming.’

After hanging up, Justin Kane rose to his full height and walked toward the elevator.

...

After her initial shock, Nina Thorne quickly calmed down and said mockingly, "Am I the one seducing Justin Kane, or are you the one with the shady relationship with your so-called sister?"

"You two are one step away from sharing a bed. What right do you have to talk about me?"

Cole Kane’s face flushed red with anger. He roared as if he was losing his mind, "I’ve told you so many times, I only see Serena as a sister! Why do you have to keep harping on this? Why do you insist on pinning labels on her?"

"What do I have to say, what do I have to do, for you to finally believe me!"

’If she didn’t know what happened three years ago...’

’...seeing his hysterical, thoroughly wronged expression, Nina might have actually believed him.’

Nina Thorne laughed, a laugh full of sarcasm. "Three years ago, she climbed into your bed. What is there for me to believe?"

Cole Kane’s expression changed drastically. "What did you say? Nina Thorne, what nonsense are you spouting now?"

Nina Thorne looked at him calmly, as if he were a stranger. "Three years ago, on the night of your birthday, Serena Kane deliberately got me drunk to get me out of the way."

"She even drugged you. The two of you almost slept together. And you still have the gall to stand here and insist there’s nothing between you two, that she has no designs on you?"

Recalling the past made Nina’s emotions surge, mixed with an exceptional bitterness.

After that incident, Old Master Kane, afraid of damaging the Kane family’s reputation and not wanting Cole Kane to find out, arranged for Serena Kane to go abroad and asked Nina Thorne to keep it a secret.

She had agreed.

But because of that, Cole Kane ended up blaming her for Serena Kane being sent abroad, and she had no way to defend herself.

"Impossible..."

As if struck by the revelation, Cole Kane staggered backward, looking at her in disbelief. "Impossible. You’re making this up, right? How could Serena do something like that? Absolutely impossible..."

"Serena went abroad to let us be together, because she didn’t want us to fight over her! Stop slandering her!"

Nina Thorne had expected this.

For the past three years, she had talked until she was blue in the face, but Cole Kane never believed her.

He always believed she was the main culprit.

A wave of sorrow washed over Nina Thorne’s heart. She shrugged knowingly. "See? No matter what I say, you don’t believe me."

"But I don’t care anymore. Believe it or not, I couldn’t care less. Even if you two get married, it has nothing to do with me."

Nina Thorne opened the door and walked out of the room decisively.

Cole Kane’s eyes were bloodshot. He rushed after her, grabbing her hand tightly and refusing to let go. "Don’t go! You need to make it clear. You’re lying to me, right...?"

He couldn’t believe that the kind, gentle Serena Kane he knew could be the kind of person Nina Thorne described.

"Let go of me!"

Nina Thorne struggled with all her might, but the more she struggled, the tighter Cole Kane’s grip became.

Her hand ached and went numb, feeling as if it were about to break.

Suddenly, a tall, imposing figure strode over, forcefully pried Cole Kane’s hand away, and threw a vicious punch.

"You’re asking to die!"

Justin Kane glared fiercely at Cole Kane on the ground, his eyes filled with a murderous rage.
