Being Dumped by My EX, I Marriied His Older Brother-Chapter 62: Justin, Be Gentle, It Hurts
Beyond her initial surprise, Nina Thorne felt a surge of happiness.
"Justin..."
As Nina came to her senses and tried to push Cole Kane away, he suddenly caught her arms and pulled her into an even tighter embrace.
"Nina, don’t be afraid. As long as I’m here, I won’t let anyone hurt you."
He spoke with a doting look on his face, then continued in a gentle voice, "I told you before, it’s too dangerous for you to be here alone. Thank god I arrived in time tonight, otherwise the consequences would have been unimaginable."
"Nina, let’s stop fighting. Let’s get back together, okay? Give me one more chance. I swear I’ll be completely devoted to you from now on."
Cole, not seeing Justin Kane behind him, had a sly smile in his eyes. He leaned close, his warm breath ghosting over the nape of her neck.
’Nina must have been moved by tonight’s events,’ he thought. ’She’ll probably make up with me very soon.’
He blathered on and on, but Nina Thorne wasn’t listening at all.
’Is he serious?’
’Just because he saved me, does he think I’m going to burst into tears, hug him, and ask to get back together?’
’In his dreams.’
"So I’m supposed to get back together with you just because you saved me? You must have lost your mind to have such a shameless thought."
"Let go of me!"
Nina struggled, but Cole’s grip was too tight; she couldn’t budge him an inch.
She looked worriedly at Justin Kane, her eyes seeming to say, ’There’s nothing going on between us...’
Justin Kane stood behind them, appreciating the scene for a few seconds before signaling his men to take Jessica Jenkins away.
Then, he strode forward, his deep voice asking, "How much longer are you going to hold on to my person?"
The moment he’d gotten out of the car, he had indeed misunderstood.
He thought Nina had lost her mind again and rekindled her old flame with Cole.
’At least she has some conscience left.’
’Still, being held by him is unacceptable.’
Cole froze. Hearing Justin Kane’s voice, he thought he was imagining things.
Until his brother’s displeased, deep voice came from behind again, "Did you not hear me?"
Immediately after, Cole’s hands were forcefully pulled away, and Nina was yanked from his grasp.
Cole’s face instantly darkened as he whipped his head around.
"Brother!"
Cole was stunned to see Justin Kane.
Only then did his gaze fall upon his brother’s hand, which was wrapped around Nina’s waist in a strikingly intimate gesture.
And what’s more, Nina wasn’t resisting.
’She’s clearly doing this just to spite me!’
Cole frowned. "Brother, Nina is my fiancée. Please, have some self-respect."
Justin Kane’s thick brows arched coldly, and he was about to speak.
But Nina, having reached her limit, shot back even faster, "You’re the one who needs to have some self-respect. We’ve already signed the annulment papers. We have nothing to do with each other."
Feeling the warmth of Justin’s large hand on her waist, she peeked at his expression from the corner of her eye.
’He’s not angry, is he?’
"If you just forgive me, we can get married right away," Cole said again with deep affection, never taking the annulment papers seriously.
"Fine, you want me to forgive you?"
Nina’s cold eyes swept over him, finding the affection in his gaze utterly諷刺. "Only if you drop dead," she said heartlessly.
Cole stood僵住 as if struck by lightning.
Seeing the indifference in Nina’s eyes, a wave of panic and unease washed over him.
’She used to love me so much. How did she change like this?’ 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Did you hear that?" A cold glint in his dark eyes, Justin Kane’s lips curled upwards.
’Not bad, my little gas tank.’
More than half of his earlier anger instantly vanished. He looked down at her and said in a low voice, "Let’s go."
Nina nodded obediently.
Justin kept his arm around her waist as they turned and walked toward the luxury car.
Seeing their closeness, Cole’s eyes turned bloodshot. He rushed in front of them.
"Justin Kane, what is the meaning of this? Are you trying to steal my woman?" Cole yelled at Justin, his face contorted with rage.
Justin frowned and said to Nina in a low voice, "Get in the car first."
Nina obediently did as he said.
After getting in, she was suddenly curious if he would admit their relationship to Cole.
Seeing her get into the car, Cole glared at Justin. "Brother, Nina is my girlfriend! You have no right to interfere!"
"Your girlfriend?"
A sneer played on Justin’s thin lips. "Perhaps in the past. But from now on, you’ll have to call her your sister-in-law."
Cole’s pupils widened. "What do you mean?"
"Exactly what it sounds like." Justin shot him a cool glance and warned, "Don’t harass her again."
With that, he got into the car.
As the vehicle drove away, Cole glared hatefully at the disappearing taillights, his fists clenched so tightly the bones began to CRACKLE.
’What a great big brother he is!’
’He’s actually trying to steal my woman!’
...
「In the car.」
Justin Kane’s deep voice suddenly broke the silence, his gaze fixed on Nina’s face. "Are you afraid?"
Afraid of Cole finding out about their relationship?
He’d said what he did to Cole just now to test Nina’s reaction.
At that moment, Nina was lost in thought.
The words Justin had said to Cole before getting in the car replayed over and over in her mind, sending ripples through her heart.
’Is he... planning to make our relationship public?’
At the thought, Nina couldn’t help a small flicker of anticipation, and the corners of her lips curved up unconsciously.
"What are you thinking about?" Justin’s voice deepened, assuming she was thinking about Cole.
Nina snapped back to reality with an "Ah," her cheeks flushing. "N-nothing."
Justin’s expression darkened, his voice laced with displeasure. "After being hurt by that kid for so long, you still can’t let him go?"
"Of course not."
Nina snorted. "After everything he’s done to me, if I still couldn’t forget him, I’d have to have been dropped on my head."
Justin’s probing gaze lingered on her face, as if trying to discern whether she was telling the truth.
Soon, he looked away, satisfied. "It’s best that you understand that," he said lightly.
Seeing his indifferent expression, Nina felt the need to explain.
"Tonight..."
Just as Nina started to speak, the driver’s voice cut her off. "Sir, we’ve arrived at the hotel."
Nina sullenly swallowed her words.
Justin took her up to the presidential suite.
This was the most luxurious seven-star hotel in the heart of Vistara, with an entire wall of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bustling city at night.
Compared to the ordinary hotel the production crew had rented, this was paradise.
"Come here."
Justin, dressed in a white shirt, sat on the sofa and patted the spot next to him. A first-aid kit sat on the coffee table in front of him.
Nina murmured an "Oh," and obediently walked over.
The moment she sat down, Justin took her small hand and turned it palm-up, revealing a scraped wound.
Nina stared, stunned, at Justin.
’My hand was hurt and I didn’t even know, but he noticed.’
The situation had been so chaotic and critical. The scrape must have happened while she was struggling. She must have been too scared to even feel the pain.
"Brace yourself. This will sting a little," Justin reminded her, his dark eyes tender.
"Okay."
Nina had always been afraid of pain. Before he even started cleaning the wound, her body had already started to tense up.
Justin glanced at her with his dark eyes, dipped a cotton swab in iodine, and gently began to disinfect the wound while softly comforting her.
"Relax. If it hurts... Ngh..."
Justin’s words were cut off by a low grunt.
The moment the iodine touched Nina’s wound, a sharp pain shot through her. Her other hand suddenly grabbed his arm, her sharp nails nearly piercing through his shirt and into his skin.
Justin’s deep gaze fell on the hand gripping his arm. The blue veins on the back of her slender, pale hand stood out clearly.
She seemed terrified, her hand trembling as she squeezed.
"Justin, it hurts..."
"Be gentler."
"Justin, are you done yet?"
She kept her head down, eyes squeezed shut, her soft, trembling voice asking question after question.
She was once proud and radiant, but five years with Cole Kane had left her emotionally drained and overly cautious.
At this moment, she was so fragile it was heart-wrenching.
Justin’s pupils contracted, his voice turning husky. "Almost."
Fortunately, the wound wasn’t deep. He just wanted to clean it to prevent infection and put his mind at ease.
After disinfecting it, he applied a bandage.
Justin tossed the cotton swab and cleared the medicine bottles from the table. "All done."
"Thank you." Nina finally let out a sigh of relief and looked at her palm.
She had a high sensitivity to pain.
A wound that others might not even feel could make her want to cry.
Remembering how hard she had grabbed his arm, Nina quickly took his hand and rolled up his sleeve.
A row of deep fingernail marks came into view, so deep they had almost drawn blood.
Nina’s heart skipped a beat. "I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to."
"It’s nothing, don’t blame yourself." Justin held her hand, pulling his sleeve back down to cover the marks. He raised an eyebrow.
"But if you really want to make it up to me, then tell me, what happened tonight?"
"..."
Even if he hadn’t asked,
Nina was planning to explain anyway. So she told him everything from beginning to end.
"It’s true that Cole arrived in time to save me tonight. Otherwise, I don’t know what would have happened to Jessica and me," Nina said, feeling a lingering sense of relief.
That was probably the only decent thing Cole had ever done.
After listening, Justin’s suspended heart finally settled. It was for the best that she had no intention of getting back together with Cole.
Instantly, all his anger dissipated.
Justin looked at her with his deep eyes, his words holding a hidden meaning. "Vistara is the capital. It’s famous for being safe."
Nina’s eyes suddenly widened. "Are you suggesting that tonight’s incident was a setup?"
Justin didn’t say more. In his magnetic voice, he said, "Don’t worry, I’ll investigate."
Nina nodded.
It was as if the barrier between them had vanished in that moment.
She gazed at Justin’s handsome face. There were some things she had to ask, or her heart wouldn’t be at ease.
"Justin, last time you said you would tell me why you saved my contact name as ’Gas Tank’."
She leaned closer, narrowing her beautiful eyes as she pressed him for an answer.
"Still thinking about that?" Justin chuckled. He tilted his head, and their faces were nearly touching.
She was so close. The faint, sweet scent from her body mingled with her breath, wafting around his nose, intoxicating him like a poison.
Justin held his breath, his eyes gradually igniting with a fiery passion. "You really want to know?"
Nina realized the atmosphere was shifting. She blinked rapidly, hummed in agreement, and tried to pull back.
Suddenly, his large hand reached out and cupped the back of her neck. His handsome face drew closer until their foreheads were touching...
"If I tell you, will there be a reward?"
Justin’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his voice husky. "For example... doing things that adults do."
Nina’s heart raced. She froze, unable to move.
"Justin, why are you like this now..."
’He’s always teasing me.’
’What if I start to take him seriously?’
Justin’s hot breath fanned across her cheek as he murmured, "Like what?"
His audacious hand landed on her waist, slipping under the hem of her shirt.
Nina’s heart beat even faster.
THUMP, THUMP, THUMP. It hammered away as if trying to break free from her chest and leap out of her throat. Her cheeks and body burned as if on fire.
The man’s large hand caressed the soft skin of her waist, sending shivers through her body.
The sensation was foreign, yet thrilling.
She felt like she was running a fever...
