Chapter 62: Chapter 62 - Shock

Theo glanced at Owen for a moment, one of his eyebrows raised.

’He does care,’ he thought. ’He just doesn’t want to show it, I guess.’

Owen just winked at him, nodding his head towards one of the machines.

’’Sure,’’ Theo said, nodding once. ’’I’ll go in now.’’

He glanced over at Rea, searching for confirmation.

But she was still clearly lost in thought as she glanced between the two.

’’Can I?’’ Theo asked again, tilting his head slightly.

Rea snapped out of it, quickly nodding.

’’Yes, yes,’’ she said, turning to her laptop. ’’I’ll get it ready again.’’

Theo nodded, a faint smile on his face as he walked towards the machine.

After a few seconds, he got the sign from Rea and stepped inside.

As the lid clicked shut behind him, he couldn’t help but let out a sigh.

’This is going to bring out both of my affinities,’ he thought, closing his eyes. ’But that was going to happen eventually anyway.’

All he had to hope for was that it wouldn’t spread too fast, getting him killed as a result.

’It should all be fine. I’ll turn the results in immediately, which should basically guarantee me a spot in Westridge.’

Opening his eyes again, a bright light began to shine inside the machine.

A strange feeling sent shivers down his spine as he felt tiny traces of foreign mana course through his body. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

’’That’s... annoying,’’ he muttered, glancing up.

Seconds passed by before the mana finally dispersed inside his body, and the bright blue light finally shut off.

As the lid slid open again, he was met by two frozen expressions, both staring at him in complete disbelief.

’Ah,’ he thought, smiling faintly. ’They definitely know about my affinities, don’t they.’

No one spoke.

Theo stepped out of the machine slowly, glancing between the two of them.

’’And?’’ he asked, feigning ignorance. ’’What was my result?’’

Owen was still staring at him, a faint smile on his face, as if he hadn’t fully processed what he was seeing.

Rea, on the other hand, glanced back at her laptop’s screen one more time.

’’You...’’ she said slowly. ’’What—? No, how...?’’

Theo tilted his head slightly, playing his part perfectly.

’’What do you mean?’’ he asked innocently.

Rea pulled up her laptop, displaying two separate videos on it.

One was a yellow mass, swirling around violently. The other a deep blue mass, barely even swirling at all.

’’How do you have two affinities... as a bronze core?’’ she asked, her voice firmer this time.

’’Oh,’’ Theo said, scratching his head. ’’I don’t know how that happened either.’’

Owen turned to him immediately.

’’You knew about them?’’

Theo nodded once, unsure how this would continue.

Just then, Rea muttered something else.

’’And both... are SSS-rank too?’’

The corner of Theo’s mouth shot up, but he remained composed.

’’Are they really?’’ he asked, taking in a deep breath.

Rea just stared at him silently, her eyes wide as she nodded.

That’s when a look of realization flashed across her face.

’’So that’s how you beat the Calamity Covenant and his experiment...’’ she mumbled, letting out a gasp.

At the same time, Owen recovered from his shock too.

He walked over to Theo with a wide grin on his face and patted him firmly on his back.

’’That’s good,’’ he said, genuine happiness radiating from him. ’’I told you before, we’re going to make it one day.’’

Theo nodded, unable to hide the smile on his face.

Rea just watched the two of them for a moment, her expression unreadable.

After she regained her composure, the three of them sat down so she could take a closer look at the results.

Nearly half an hour flew by before they finally stood up again.

’’So all I need are cultivation resources from the earth element to stabilize my core?’’ Owen asked as they walked through the corridor.

’’I suspect so,’’ Rea nodded, holding the door for both of them. ’’As for your core itself... that stone layer will no doubt disappear soon.’’

She glanced over at Theo, narrowing her eyes slightly.

’’It’d be wise if you keep your second affinity under wraps as much as possible,’’ she said. ’’Not just the Calamity Covenant is out to hunt special people, after all...’’

Theo’s expression changed slightly, but it wasn’t anything he hadn’t already expected.

After walking down and reaching the lobby, the two of them turned around one final time.

’’Thank you for everything,’’ Theo said honestly.

Rea simply nodded, a strange expression still on her face.

’’If anything changes, make sure to contact me,’’ she added.

’’Will do,’’ Owen grinned.

With that, the two of them turned and left the fancy building behind them.

A few seconds after they left, Rea glanced at her receptionist, her eyes narrowing.

’’Don’t think I’ve forgotten about you,’’ she said, her voice ice cold. ’’You can also pack your bags and go.’’

The receptionist’s face went pale instantly.

’’I—’’ she tried, but no words came out.

Her hands tightened around the desk as she lowered her head, completely frozen.

’’And some advice for the rest of your life,’’ Rea added coldly. ’’No matter how wealthy your family is... there are always better people out there.’’

With that, she turned away under the gazes of all her guests and walked back up to her office.

Outside, the cool air washed over them as they stepped onto the streets.

Owen let out a low whistle, shaking his head as he looked at Theo.

’’There’s no way we’re not getting into that school,’’ he said, grinning. ’’My S-rank affinity and your crazy SSS-rank affinities? It’ll just be insane.’’

Seeing his enthusiasm, Theo couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle.

’’I’ll bring my result over to the Association in person,’’ he said. ’’Want me to take yours too?’’

Owen nodded immediately, fumbling through his pockets to pull out an envelope.

’’Yeah, do that,’’ he said, handing it over. ’’The earlier I’m back home, the better.’’

He rubbed his hands together rapidly. ’’Oh, I’m going to make them lose their minds.’’

Theo smirked slightly.

’’Have fun with that,’’ he said. ’’Just say hello to your parents from me.’’
