Chapter 465: Chapter 465: Five Elements?

The next trials were just as Chen Lan expected: Wrath, Greed, Lust, Pride, and Sloth.

With each level passed, the Ghosts became stronger, but they were all easily dealt with.

Unfortunately, they didn’t encounter Spirit Heaven Son and the others; it seems they passed the Seven Deadly Sins as well, which is not surprising given how easy it was, especially with all five of them traveling together, significantly speeding up their progress.

Having now completed the Seven Deadly Sins, Chen Lan looked at the Space Tunnel in front of him, unsure where it would transport him next.

He stepped inside, and a sandstorm suddenly struck. Chen Lan’s pupils shrank as he quickly blinked away and ascended into the sky.

Frowning slightly, he found himself in a desert, devoid of people or Demon Beasts, with nothing but sand and sandstorms as far as the eye could see.

If he hadn’t dodged in time, he might have been swept away by the sandstorm.

Suddenly, a shadow attacked. Chen Lan deftly dodged it. On closer inspection, the shadow resembled a scorpion’s tail and quickly burrowed back into the sand.

It turns out that the reason no Demon Beasts were visible was because they were all hiding under the desert.

"Playing tricks," Chen Lan swung his Sword, and the fierce Sword Qi split the desert in half, sending the hidden Demon Beasts flying, landing one by one on the sand’s surface.

They resembled scorpions with large bodies and dark inky-colored bodies. Each stood, hissing at Chen Lan.

Chen Lan swung his Sword again, the Sword Qi striking but being neutralized by an abrupt sandstorm!

Seeing this, Chen Lan’s gaze hardened. His Sword Qi was dispelled so easily by the sandstorm; this was no ordinary sandstorm.

Upon careful observation, he discovered something unusual about the sandstorm. It was formed by countless tiny Demon Beasts that visually created the sandstorm’s illusion. He had just killed some Demon Beasts, only for others to take their place, working under the same principle as the Desolate Dragon.

"Go." With a wave of his hand, a massive Black Dragon surged out from within him, opening its gaping maw towards the sandstorm.

Since there were so many Demon Beasts, he would use his Soul attack to eliminate them.

Wherever the Black Dragon went, countless Demon Beasts were swallowed into its belly. In no time, all the Demon Beasts were consumed as food by the Black Dragon.

"Humans, how dare you kill my people, die!!!"

Suddenly, a voice boomed through the heavens and the earth, causing the ground to tremble violently. Chen Lan hovered in the sky, frowning slightly.

Bang!

The desert suddenly exploded, sand flying, and an enormous hand shot out, soon followed by several explosions, as a colossal creature emerged!

Gigantic in form, it bore two wolf-like heads and wielded two giant axes in its hands, with its four eyes fixed on Chen Lan, exuding the aura of a Taoist Saint.

"Go." Without wasting more words, Chen Lan commanded the Black Dragon.

The Black Dragon roared, flying towards the monster, piercing its body but causing no damage!

"No Soul?" Chen Lan questioned in confusion; living creatures have a Soul, yet this monster lacked one, very strange indeed.

Could it be a dead thing?

"Ant, die!" The monster raised its twin axes high, flashing over to Chen Lan, crashing down heavily.

Bang!

One Sword strike sent it flying, followed by another Sword Qi that pierced its chest, scattering sand without a drop of blood.

Chen Lan raised an eyebrow; sure enough, this wasn’t a living creature. It was a dead object formed by sand.

The next second, the monster’s wounds quickly healed, attacking Chen Lan again, stomping down hard, surrounding him with dozens of sandstorm tornadoes.

"Rain, come," Chen Lan calmly commanded, and suddenly dark clouds gathered in the sky, pouring down torrential rain.

The rain touched the sand, instantly turning it sticky and transforming it into mud. The sandstorm tornadoes vanished in an instant, and even the monster’s movements became stiff and slow.

"Freeze." Speaking again, Ice Cold Power erupted from Chen Lan’s body, dropping the surrounding temperature ten thousand degrees.

With moisture inside its body, the monster slowly began to freeze until it became a giant ice sculpture.

"Explode." With a snap of Chen Lan’s fingers, the monster exploded into countless ice shards raining down, turning into hail.

"Hmm?" Chen Lan was slightly shocked, his figure flickering out of sight, reappearing atop the monster’s debris.

Before him hovered an Earth Dao bead exuding a yellow earth glow. Upon picking it up, he instantly sensed the profound Earth Daoyi contained within, vast and magnificent!

This filled him with joy; he hadn’t expected to acquire such a treasure. But it was equally strange that Spirit Heaven Son and the others hadn’t slain this monster. Was it that difficult to kill?

Or did they bypass this monster and proceed directly to the next stage?

Chen Lan stored the bead away, deciding not to refine it on the spot. He decided to find Spirit Heaven Son and the others, as there might be more such Dao bead treasures in the monsters ahead. He couldn’t let them have it.

Flying for about five minutes, he spotted a Space Tunnel in the sky and quickly entered.

...

"Damn it, what kind of monster is this, that can’t be killed, and why is everyone else scattered?" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

An elderly man frowned, speaking, while before him lay a vast ocean, yet it was as black as ink.

The next second, an arrow shot out from the ocean, narrowly missing the old man, who dodged in time.

At this moment, a Sword cry rang behind him, startling him to dodge quickly, yet his robe was still torn.

"Who is attacking!" the old man roared angrily, turning to look, and was instantly dumbfounded, "It’s you?!"

The newcomer was none other than Chen Lan. Chen Lan looked at the old man with a cold smile, recognizing him as Li Longcong, one of those notorious Taoist Saints. What luck to have encountered him here.

"You actually survived being devoured by the Desolate Dragon and reached the second stage. Seems you have some skill," Li Longcong remarked in surprise.

He initially thought Chen Lan was doomed against the Desolate Dragon, yet not only did he survive, he made it to the second stage, possessing some capabilities.

"Heh, sorry to disappoint you." Chen Lan’s cold smile deepened as his figure vanished.

Li Longcong’s pupils shrank as he quickly summoned a great saber, striking to his right.

Clang!

The collision of blade and Sword sparked a blaze.

Feeling Chen Lan’s formidable strength startled Li Longcong; he knew this man was a Loose Cultivator, yet their powers matched evenly!

"Friend, let’s talk this out. It was Spirit Heaven Son who wanted to harm you, not me," Li Longcong explained.

"You’re all cut from the same cloth, none of you are any good," Chen Lan sneered, as if he could be easily deceived.

His Celestial Eye gleamed, unleashing a powerful Divine Light that Li Longcong couldn’t dodge in time, hitting his head and sending him crashing into the ocean below.

In an instant, countless black Ghost hands emerged from beneath the ocean, seizing Li Longcong, attempting to drag him below.

"Friend, Junior, save me!!!" Li Longcong called out to Chen Lan in horror.

Chen Lan waved his hand, and Li Longcong was overjoyed, thinking Chen Lan was saving him, only to find Chen Lan took his Storage Bag from his waist and then turned away!

"Kid, I curse you to die without a burial!!!"

Gurgling, Li Longcong was dragged under by the Ghost hands, his cries abruptly stopping.

"This sea is strange; earlier it was Earth, and now it’s Water. Could this be the Five Elements?"
