Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 206: [The Infinite Train] – Degenerate’s Part (16)
"Keep reading. Let’s find out what exactly happened," Ron said urgently.
Aurora quickly unfolded the newspaper. Although large portions had been burned, they could still tell a complete story.
On its way to Watson Town, it turned out that the train encountered an incident when it passed through a tunnel. A lunatic went mad, set fire to the place, and killed everyone on board.
No matter how it happened, the perpetrator’s goal was achieved—no one on the train survived.
"We need to find the arsonist, or this fate might repeat itself," Ron muttered.
If they couldn’t stop the arsonist, if the fire from that day were to ignite again, the train they were currently on would surely meet the same tragic end—everyone would die.
At that point, even if they managed to kill every last monster, it wouldn’t mean anything.
"But the mission is to arrive safely in Watson Town..." Aurora said hesitantly.
Ron looked at her, his expression serious. "That’s right. Safely arrive in Watson Town. We don’t know where Watson Town is, but we must stay safe. As long as we survive the fire and aren’t killed by monsters, we’ll make it to Watson Town."
As he spoke, Ron took Aurora’s hand. His eyes lit up with a brilliant gleam, shining resolutely as he pressed forward.
Aurora’s eyes widened slightly. She pressed her lips together and gave a slight nod. "You’re right. We need to get to Watson Town safely..."
Only then did Ron realize he was holding Aurora’s hand. He jumped back, startled, and took a step away.
He looked dazed as he stared at Aurora, sensing the confusion in her eyes. Ron gave a sheepish smile and scratched his head. "Ha ha ha, I was just... a little embarrassed."
Aurora couldn’t help teasing him, "I thought you were scared I might eat you. Ha ha."
"Wouldn’t be so bad..."
"Huh? What did you say? I missed that." Aurora looked at Ron, eyes full of suspicion.
Ron shook his head vigorously and took the lead, running ahead. "Let’s go! We need to bring this information back to the train below us!"
Despite his words, Ron didn’t have much confidence. That ticket inspector suddenly brought them here, and there was no path back.
Unless they waited for that same ticket inspector to come through again and then somehow slipped behind him unnoticed, who knew how long that would take? Meanwhile, the spark was already waiting to ignite.
However, they soon had no time to think about that.
Just as Ron opened the door to step outside, a massive shadow lunged at him!
Ron’s eyes widened, and he reacted instantly, raising his arm. A gust of wind surged forth, slicing through the massive shadow, which immediately shattered into countless pieces.
"What the hell..."
Ron muttered. Standing behind him, Aurora couldn’t help but widen her eyes as well.
Countless shadows now blocked the doorway, as if they had been waiting for them.
Their forms flickered endlessly, like flames burning without cease.
Nothing could be seen on their faces except the empty, soulless holes where their eyes should be.
Suddenly, they all roared in unison.
Then the shadows merged, forming an enormous, bloated mass that filled the entire train carriage.
It was impossible to tell how long the creature was, but its size alone made it feel like the train was about to burst apart! Countless tendrils stretched out from its body.
A hole opened up where its "head" might be, and a sound like howling wind through a mountain pass came pouring out.
Ron shielded his face as the gust forced him back. He furrowed his brows and, without hesitation, grabbed Aurora’s hand. He extended one hand behind them—
In an instant, the palm of his hand lit up like a jet engine, a faint green glow enveloping them both—
And with a whoosh, he and Aurora shot forward, leaving the monster far behind.
The sudden acceleration sent Aurora stumbling backward. She let out a small cry and quickly stabilized herself, clutching Ron’s hand tightly, as if trying to fuse their hands.
[Suddenly feeling pretty good hihihihi]
[Gremlin joy unlocked]
The monster’s tentacles couldn’t catch Ron and Aurora. It hesitated momentarily, then began flailing its tentacles up and down like a child throwing a tantrum. The entire train car shook violently with its rage.
Then, its enormous body surged forward, inching rapidly like a giant leech, stretching and lunging in pursuit.
"The bathroom! Lily and I saw that strange lump of flesh there earlier. There has to be something in the bathroom up here!"
Aurora suddenly shouted.
Ron didn’t question her and dashed straight toward the restroom. There was no other choice—they had nowhere else to run.
Everywhere they passed, if there were shadows, the shadows would immediately coil together, becoming a part of the monstrous entity chasing them, attacking and blocking their path.
Wind carried Ron and Aurora forward at high speed, blades slicing through the air non-stop. But if they kept running like this, Ron knew he wouldn’t last much longer.
They finally reached the bathroom.
It was partially burned, with dust everywhere, and the warped, overlapping structures trembled as if they could collapse at any moment.
Without hesitation, Ron pulled Aurora toward the men’s restroom—
But Aurora quickly yanked him back: "The women’s bathroom!"
Ron froze for a moment, lips slightly pressed together as if embarrassed.
But Aurora didn’t notice and promptly dragged him toward the women’s stall.
The smell inside was still pungent, a mix of blood and rotting flesh.
Aurora wrinkled her nose but swiftly opened the stalls from memory. Her movements were smooth and practiced. At this moment, Ron also realizes just how strong this girl is. Her grip on his hand hurt.
[Haha, Ron looks like a little chick right now]
[He’s not even short, right?]
[Honestly, I’ve been waiting for the scene where Aurora carries Asta since they first met]
[Asta is a 100% straight man—he’d never allow that!]
[Not allow it? I feel like if Aurora said the word, he’d fold. Didn’t you see the way he panicked just now? Ha ha ha]
Indeed, Asta wasn’t calm at all. It was as if they’d vanished from the world with no trace of Aurora or the others who had been taken.
Frustrated, he returned to the train car—only to realize that light had returned. But moments ago, when he was outside the train, he hadn’t seen a glimmer!
Asta instinctively looked out the window. Where exactly was this sunlight coming from?
What was even more disturbing was that with the appearance of the light, the zombies vanished as well!
The entire train was filled only with ordinary people tending to their wounds.
"Maybe the light burned those zombies like sunlight on vampires, ha ha ha."
Someone couldn’t help but joke.
Asta ignored everything else and climbed out the window again. Yet this time, outside was once again pitch-black.
BANG!
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed. Asta shut the window and stared at the glass, which reflected the peaceful scene behind him. His amber eyes were dark and heavy.
From the black void outside, a grotesquely long and massive hand had reached toward him—as if trying to crush him!
Inside the train, everything seemed like a beautifully woven illusion. Unreal, but convincing enough to lull even the most desperate fighters into a dream.
"It seems something big is about to arrive."
A weak voice suddenly sounded next to Asta. He turned to see Nyx, leaning on her cane, smiling faintly at him.
"Let’s hope you don’t die,"
Asta shrugged, unfazed. He turned to return to his train car, making a quick detour to check on the NPC child Aurora had been doting on all this time.
