Chapter 155: Chapter 155: Thank you for caring

Nate Dawson looked at Hazel Ross, then at Luke.

In his dark eyes, emotions flickered—from unwillingness to sadness, and finally, to despair.

"So, it’s really Luke..." Nate muttered, his voice low. If Luke hadn’t voluntarily stepped aside, Nate would never have had a chance.

"Luke, Hazel’s legs aren’t in the best condition. Can you be her strength and take her to see the world?" Nate asked after a brief silence.

"Brother Nate, actually, I can already walk again," Hazel replied softly.

Her legs had weakened due to exhaustion earlier in the day, so when she had come out to see Nate, she had been in a wheelchair. But now, she stood up, her long, white legs stepping forward gracefully as she walked toward Nate with a gentle smile.

Nate’s eyes widened in shock, his words tumbling out, "Hazel! You... you can walk?!"

It was hard to believe. In his memory, Hazel’s legs had been like this for over a decade. Even with the advanced healing techniques of Celestial Academy, she had remained the same.

"It’s all thanks to Luke," Hazel explained.

During their journey to Lion City, if not for Luke, Hazel would have been captured by the Plague Lord. In a way, it was because of Luke that she had the opportunity to walk again.

"So, it really was Luke..." Nate repeated, looking at him again.

But this time, instead of frustration, there was gratitude in his eyes.

"Then why were you still in a wheelchair just now? Haven’t you fully recovered?" Nate asked, still trying to process it all.

"I can move for about two hours a day now. It will gradually improve," Hazel answered. "But outside of that, I still need the wheelchair, which is also quite convenient."

Hazel infused a trace of magic into her back, and suddenly, a pair of colorful elven wings spread open, lifting her into the air.

The dazzling colors shimmered as she hovered, resembling an elegant fairy.

"A Winged Artifact?" Nate was truly stunned this time.

Professor Xavier had once said that Winged Equipment of this level was worth at least 100 million. And given Hazel’s delicate constitution, the artifact’s quality was likely even higher.

Nate had been working tirelessly in the Azure Sky Hunting Institute, and with some luck, he had managed to earn 20 million to buy a Thunder Spirit Seed.

But 100 million? That was simply unimaginable.

"This was also a gift from Brother Luke," Hazel said.

Nate’s tone changed slightly. "Luke, was it really you who bought this?"

To have hundreds of millions was one thing. But to spend that fortune on Hazel without a second thought? That was proof enough of Luke’s sincerity.

"If you want one, I can get you one too—consider it a gift," Luke said, smiling at Nate’s glowing eyes.

With Walter Murphy’s black gold card in his possession, money wasn’t a problem. Comforting Nate a little wouldn’t hurt.

"Really?! But if I could choose, I’d prefer an armor artifact," Nate said with an eager grin, rubbing his hands together.

That was just how Nate was. When it came to love, he didn’t like to dwell too much on the past.

"Sure," Luke said with a chuckle.

The Totem Serpent’s Armor that Nate had obtained in another timeline had been upgraded significantly. If Luke crafted it now, it would be worth even more than a Winged Artifact.

"Really?!" Nate’s eyes sparkled instantly, his previous frustrations swept away.

Having a rich relative in the family was useless. But having a rich relative who was actually willing to share the wealth? That was a real brother.

No, not a brother—a father-in-law!

"Luke, to be honest, it’s not about the gifts or money. I just find you more pleasing to the eye now," Nate said, throwing an arm around Luke’s shoulder. "From now on, let’s make a deal—you call me uncle, and I’ll call you my father-in-law!"

Luke nearly choked. Nate had always been a little shameless, but this was a whole new level.

However, Luke himself had changed. Under the influence of the system, his perception of money had shifted drastically.

If someone had handed him 100 million in his past life, he probably would have acted even more shamelessly than Nate.

"Forget the father-in-law part. I have plenty of children already—you don’t count," Luke quipped.

"Eh, what are you talking about, Father-in-law?" Nate said quickly, worried that Luke might take back his promise. "I might not be as strong as you, but at my age, I’ve already reached the mid-tier of dual-element cultivation and have two elemental spirits. Other than you, no one in our generation can claim to be stronger!"

"Be my father-in-law! You won’t regret it!" Nate insisted.

Luke simply shrugged helplessly and let it go.

If the system decided to reward him for Nate’s antics, then Luke would be even happier.

Hazel and Tanya Reed watched the entire exchange, glancing at each other before bursting into laughter.

With things settling this way, Hazel no longer had to carry any burdens in her heart.

Once she left for the Parthenon Temple, she could focus entirely on her responsibilities.

As Luke and Tanya returned to Avalon Lake, eager to continue where they had left off, a sudden wolf’s howl echoed through the night.

It was the Skywing Wolf’s cry.

But the sound did not last long—another howl followed, overlapping with the first.

The twin howls of the Sun and Moon Celestial Wolves.

Enemies were attacking.

"Whoooosh!"

An injured, burly man staggered out of the forest, covered in blood, collapsing in front of Luke and Tanya.

"Daniel Hawk?! What are you doing?!" Tanya exclaimed.

The man before her was a Totem Guardian.

Luke recognized him as well. He looked strikingly similar to the rugged man guarding the Blood Medicine Shop.

If Luke guessed correctly, they were likely brothers.

"Tanya... Luke..." Daniel gritted his teeth. "You two... you ruined everything!"

"Why did you go against Laurence Mann? Why did you bring him down?!" His voice trembled with rage.

"And worst of all—you killed my brother!"
