Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children-Chapter 35 - 34: A Fight Broke Out
Ju Ke loudly announced his name and asked the young man his business with the Fengchuan Tribe.
The young man patted the White Goose Beastman’s head, and the beastman slowly descended.
With a cold smile playing on his lips, he looked toward one of the huts. "I’ve come to find my mate!"
Hearing the familiar voice, Si Shuo froze for a moment. She then struggled out of Xu Chi’s embrace and dashed outside.
Ji Liang raised an eyebrow at her with a faint smile, opening his arms.
Si Shuo rushed to him, wrapping her arms tightly around his lean waist. "Ji Liang, Ji Liang! I thought I’d never see you again. How did you find me?"
Ji Liang hugged her back tightly, inhaling her sweet scent. His heart, which had been cold, hard, and anxious, finally warmed and settled.
"It’s because of the Bone Token tied to your waist. It’s a pair with mine, both forged and refined from the same Heart Protection Bone. They can sense each other. As long as you didn’t leave the Eastern Continent, I could find you."
At this, he added irritably, "How long was I gone before you got into trouble?"
Si Shuo pressed her lips together to suppress a smile and said in a soft voice, "Ji Liang, it really wasn’t my fault. Some Rogue Beasts showed up, and a Crowned Eagle Beastman snatched me into the sky."
"Luckily, I was quick-witted. I tricked the Crowned Eagle Beastman into hunting for me, escaped when I had the chance, and then ran into Xu Chi..."
Hearing this, Ji Liang finally raised his head lazily. He glanced at the beastman standing not far away—a beastman who, despite clearly possessing only Third level Combat Power, was deliberately releasing a powerful aura upon seeing him.
"Little Shushu," Ji Liang looked down at a guilty-looking Si Shuo, his face a mask of grievance. "So, while I was worried sick about you, you were busy finding me more Couple Brothers?"
Si Shuo tugged on the corner of his clothes and whispered, "If it weren’t for Xu Chi, I might still be hiding in the forest, or I could’ve been eaten by a Wild Beast."
"Xu Chi is incredible at staying hidden, and he can sense Wild Beasts in advance. Who knows how many dangers we avoided along the way."
Ji Liang pressed his lips together. That only made him feel worse. He raised an eyebrow at Xu Chi. "Care for a spar?"
Xu Chi nodded and led the way out of the tribe.
Ji Liang scooped Si Shuo right up into his arms and followed closely behind.
Si Shuo’s face flushed bright red. "Ji Liang, I’m not a child anymore! You can’t carry me like this!"
’This is so humiliating.’
Smiling, Ji Liang shifted his grip slightly, repositioning her to carry her bridal style.
"Little Shushu, stand well back in a moment. Don’t get caught up in our fight."
"Don’t worry. Since he protected you before Zhi Le and I got here, and you like him,"
"I’ll definitely go easy on him and pull my punches. But before that, I need to test his Combat Power."
"Fights between males are perfectly normal. You’ll have to learn to get used to it. Taking sides will only make the fight escalate."
Ji Liang said in a low voice, "Little Shushu, I’ve missed you so much, and I was so worried about you. I’ve been traveling day and night to get here."
"You can’t just get a new love and forget your old one, you know."
His words left Si Shuo speechless, and the lecture she had prepared died on her lips.
"I missed you too," she said with a light laugh, tugging on his collar. "You... all of you will always be my new loves..."
’Did I really just say that?’
She buried her head in his chest. ’King of the seas dialogue, +1. Master of Water skill, +1.’
And yet, Ji Liang just laughed with a hiss. "In that case, Si Shuo, you should dote on this ’new love’ of yours a little more!"
Once they were some distance from the tribe, Xu Chi stopped and turned around.
Ji Liang put Si Shuo down and cast a Protective Shield around her. Then, with a single leap, he landed a hundred-odd meters away and transformed into a giant black python with silver markings.
The python’s fine scales glinted under the sun with a cold, metallic luster, while the crimson on its underbelly burned like a blazing fire.
The clash of the two vibrant colors was incredibly fierce and stunning!
Si Shuo wasn’t the least bit afraid. But in front of the twenty-odd-meter-long python, Xu Chi looked particularly frail and small.
She pressed her lips together, watching without blinking.
Ji Liang hissed, "You’re going to fight me like that?"
Xu Chi gave a slight nod. "I always use my human form when hunting Wild Beasts."
At this, remembering that Ji Liang was also one of Si Shuo’s Beast Husbands, he added an explanation. "My Beast Form attracts trouble. It’s not meant as a sign of disrespect."
Ji Liang scoffed coldly. "Enough talk. Let’s go!"
As he spoke, he whipped his tail out to ensnare Xu Chi. His movements were incredibly fast, and he unleashed the full pressure of his Seventh Level power. No prey he had ever coiled around had managed to escape.
However, Xu Chi seemed completely unaffected by the pressure, dodging the attack with an easy leap.
At first, neither of the two males used their superpowers, engaging in a simple game of cat and mouse.
Xu Chi was so agile that for a time, Ji Liang couldn’t lay a finger on him.
"Is this how you hunt Wild Beasts in the wild?" Ji Liang knew Xu Chi specialized in offense. As he sneered, the air temperature plummeted, and water vapor instantly condensed into frost.
Si Shuo was just starting to get excited by the fight when the scene before her turned into a sheet of white. A fierce gale kicked up, sending sand and stones flying, as hailstones rained down, splintering tree trunks and gouging craters in the earth.
If it weren’t for the Array Ji Liang had placed around her, she would have been swept up into the sky and battered into a bloody mess by the hail!
The commotion from the two males’ fight was immense. Before long, the land in a half-mile radius had been razed to the ground...
Si Shuo glanced from the raging winds to the pummeling hail, her anxiety mounting. She had no idea how long they were going to keep this up.
They only stopped when the sun finally sank below the horizon.
Ji Liang had changed back into his human form, but his clothes were tattered in several places. Blood stained the corner of his lips, and his expression was somewhat complicated.
Xu Chi had also lost his former dashing appearance. His hair was a mess, and there were scrapes on his face.
Once the Protective Shield fell, Si Shuo jogged forward. She looked from one to the other, at a loss for words.
"Don’t worry, Si Shuo. I’m fine. We fought to a draw," Xu Chi said first.
Ji Liang gave a low cough. "There’s no need to put it nicely. I was a bit weaker, it’s true. But if I hadn’t been considering our future as Couple Brothers and gone all out... well, I’m not saying I’d take you down with me, but you would’ve ended up dead or crippled!"
Xu Chi nodded. "I haven’t had a fight that satisfying in a long time. Let me reintroduce myself. Xu Chi, Level 8 Combat Power."
Ji Liang raised an eyebrow and hissed, "Ji Liang. Seventh level Combat Power."
Si Shuo gestured in shock. "L-Level 8 Combat Power?"
’Holy cow, what kind of luck do I have? The random guy I ran into when I was in trouble is a Level 8 Combat Power?’
Ji Liang was also speechless. "Our Little Shushu’s luck is really something else, huh? So hit-or-miss."
"Wait a minute," Si Shuo said, glaring at Xu Chi. "Who are you closer to, me or Ji Liang? Why did you tell him your Combat Power but keep it a secret from me?"
Ji Liang smiled, pulling Si Shuo into his arms.
"This guy couldn’t keep up his act in front of me. I forced him to reveal his true power, so there was no point in hiding it anymore."
"But the fact that he wasn’t honest with our Little Shushu... maybe he’s still thinking about finding other females. That’s why he was deliberately hiding it from you."
Xu Chi clenched his fists. "That’s not it! I..."
He couldn’t explain why, either. He just wanted to wait for Si Shuo to discover it for herself, to make her keep her eyes fixed on him.
