Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children-Chapter 322 - 321: You Teach Me How to Cry
Given the power of that tornado, they didn’t dare ask Sweet Ring to demonstrate it again so casually. Besides, the little cub was clearly too young; using her Skill just once had already left her listless.
In any case, they would see the Snake Cubs use their Skills again in the future. There was no rush.
Although the rain had stopped, the weather grew noticeably colder with each passing day. Si Shuo replicated a piece of Warm Jade for everyone in the family. It was practically a personal thermostat, raising or lowering the temperature based on the clothes they wore to maintain a stable twenty-six or twenty-seven degrees. The Warm Jade could draw Spiritual Energy from the air to adjust the temperature by two or three degrees, but maximizing its function required five different types of Crystal Stones to provide power simultaneously.
However, just five Level 6 Crystal Stones could keep the Warm Jade working for a full year.
Now, like the other Beastmen, they were dressed in thin Beast Skins, but in a more modern style. They wore leather jackets over cotton shirts, with leather pants on the bottom.
The water level receded quickly, and by the third day after the rain stopped, the ground in Guangshou City was visible once more.
The ground was covered in a three-to-five-centimeter-thick layer of silt and sand that had been washed in from who-knows-where. It was sticky, reeked of rot, and was littered with the carcasses of dead fish, shrimp, and other small animals.
The Beastmen didn’t dare slack off, racing against time to clear the ground.
The mud in their courtyard was easy to deal with. Si Shuo activated a Dust Cleaning Talisman, and the entire courtyard became spotless. All the sludge was now piled high in the front yard, completely filling it up!
Si Shuo stared blankly at the front yard. Only a narrow path to the main gate remained, surrounded by walls of dark, black mud. She turned to Wei Ce. "Brother Ce, what do you guys normally do with all this sludge?"
Wei Ce smiled. "We usually use it to reinforce the city walls, to defend against the Wild Beasts and Rogue Beasts outside."
Si Shuo recalled the high, thick city walls she had seen when she first entered the city and understood. ’This must have happened many times before.’
"Do the walls need more reinforcing right now?"
"Not really. The main issue is that there’s just too much mud inside the city. If we don’t pile it outside the walls, where else are we supposed to put it?"
Si Shuo’s eyes flickered with an idea. She went back into the courtyard to find Yin Jiang. "Yin Jiang, fly me up above Guangshou City. I want to get a look at the situation inside and outside the walls."
Yin Jiang nodded, immediately undergoing his Transformation into a Hunting Falcon and soaring into the sky with Si Shuo on his back.
The pups all tilted their heads back, watching as the Hunting Falcon spread his broad, powerful wings. With a single beat, he shot toward the clouds. His agile form was accompanied by a piercing cry that couldn’t conceal its commanding presence, making it seem as if the entire sky was his domain—so domineering and cool.
"Ahhh! Mother, when are you going to give me a little Hunting Falcon brother to play with?" Youyou asked greedily, glancing at the gentle big brother beside her. ’They have completely different vibes.’
Xu Chi chuckled and ruffled her hair, leaning in to whisper in her ear, "Soon. Come next spring, you’ll have a little Hunting Falcon brother to carry you up into the sky."
The male pups, however, were indifferent. They had their pride to think about. If they couldn’t fly themselves, they couldn’t possibly rely on a future female partner to carry them. Were they supposed to count on their Couple Brothers?
The female pups, however, were beside themselves with excitement. Ah, a Hunting Falcon! In some places, it was a Class II nationally protected species, a symbol of power and wealth.
Just from Uncle Yin Jiang, they could appreciate the majestic power of a creature that ruled the skies.
The pups could only watch from the ground, but Si Shuo was actually riding on Yin Jiang’s back. The sensation of soaring through the heavens was utterly addictive. It was as if all her burdens and negative emotions had been cast aside. Her body felt weightless, leaving only a heart full of light, pounding fiercely in her chest.
Overjoyed, Si Shuo hugged Yin Jiang’s neck and nuzzled his forehead. The wind howled past her ears, forcing her to shout, "Yin Jiang, I love flying with you! Will you take me flying more often from now on? Please?"
Yin Jiang stiffened. Since they had arrived in Guangshou City, he had been busy with the Beast Soldier Camp, only getting one day of rest for every two days of work. His little female had been just as busy, and litters of pups had been arriving one after another.
It had been a long, long time since he had taken her soaring freely through the sky.
"Shuo’er, that was my oversight. From now on, whenever I have a day off, I’ll take you and the pups out flying." He loved the sky and the unbridled freedom of soaring through it. ’Then again,’ he thought, ’who could possibly dislike this blue sky and sunshine?’
Si Shuo smiled, her lips curving. "Okay! And when that time comes, we’ll have our own little Hunting Falcon Pup trailing behind us..."
Yin Jiang had meant all the pups they had at home, but he hadn’t expected his little female to assume he was talking about a Hunting Falcon Pup. The rhythm of his wings faltered for a moment. He took a deep breath, then chuckled and agreed, "Okay."
"Yin Jiang, is there really nothing left for you on the grasslands?" Si Shuo asked while guiding him in a circle above Guangshou City.
"Yes," Yin Jiang said, his voice cold. "From the moment I was abducted by the Winged Dragon Clan, I lost all contact with the Grassland Eagle Clan of the Donghua Grassland. Their lives and deaths have nothing to do with me!"
Si Shuo nuzzled him and spoke softly, "Back then, at your... sky burial... were those clansmen your close friends?"
"Yes." Yin Jiang’s expression grew distant. The atmosphere at home was warm, and he had been so busy that he hadn’t thought about the Donghua Grassland in a very long time. It was as if that part of his memory had been cut away.
"We Beastmen are social creatures. It’s not just about strength in numbers, which helps us fight Wild Beasts and survive the harshness of nature."
"What’s most important is that we have feelings. Familial bonds, friendships, romantic love—they are all inseparable parts of who we are."
"Even fallen leaves return to their roots, Yin Jiang. Don’t close yourself off just because of a few selfish and vicious people."
"Yin Jiang, I’ve heard people say you used to be so high-spirited and full of life. Why don’t we try to find that old Yin Jiang again, together?"
"Hold on tight," Yin Jiang murmured, then suddenly shot up into the sky, piercing a layer of clouds. Once inside, he underwent his Transformation, returning to his human form but keeping his pair of flapping wings.
He held her tightly, kissing her. "Shuo’er... did I do something wrong?" ’Is she unhappy with me? Is that why she wants the old Yin Jiang back—the one who had never witnessed the darkness between Beastmen, the one who didn’t know the taste of suffering?’
Si Shuo smiled and kissed his cheek. "You haven’t done anything wrong at all. You’re too good, actually. Always silently watching over all of us."
"My heart aches for you. But I can only do so much. No matter how hard I try, I can’t possibly keep track of everyone’s feelings all the time."
"I want our family’s Yin Jiang to be a pup who knows how to cry. There’s a saying where I’m from: ’The pup that cries gets to eat meat’..."
There were no sweets on the Beast World Continent. Whenever the males had something delicious, they always gave it to the females and pups first. Therefore, the one thing they were truly partial to was meat. The metaphor was perfect!
However, Yin Jiang’s eyes narrowed. He had been with his little female for half a year now; how could he not understand the other meaning of the word "meat"?
He peppered her with kisses, his voice growing husky. "Shuo’er, why don’t you teach me how to cry."
Si Shuo’s mind grew hazy. ’Ah, his pheromones are so strong,’ she thought. ’I feel like my Mating Period is coming early...’
