After a quick bath, she had just finished dressing when she called out for Xiao Cheng.
Instead, Yin Jiang pushed the door open just a crack and squeezed inside. Smiling, he embraced her tightly. A faint trace of Fire Spiritual Power flowed around her, wicking away the dampness until even her hair was mostly dry.
He also directed the damp air in the room out through the crack in the door.
"Yin Jiang, why are you back so early?" Si Shuo felt much more comfortable now that she was dry. She stood on his feet and nuzzled her forehead against his chin.
Now that the cubs were born, this was the first time Yin Jiang could hold her so tightly, fitting her perfectly into his embrace. "I missed you. Besides, I’ve pretty much gotten the hang of things at the Beast Soldier Camp, so I don’t need to be there all the time. It’s fine for me to come home a little early."
Usually, he was on duty for two days before getting one day off, and they could barely exchange a few words each day. Si Shuo wanted to spend more time with them and tried to sleep more during the day, but the moment they held her at night, her eyelids would betray her and flutter shut.
"Yin Jiang, I missed you too," Si Shuo said, her eyes on his bobbing Adam’s apple. She chuckled softly, leaned in, and gave him a quick kiss.
Yin Jiang froze. He lowered his head to kiss her properly, but she stopped him with her hand.
He kissed her hand instead, his eyes filled with a hint of confusion and hurt. ’She can’t just tease me like this!’
A blush crept onto Si Shuo’s face as she gestured with her eyes. Yin Jiang followed her gaze and saw the two little ones on the bed, staring at them with wide, dewy deer eyes, completely captivated.
Seeing Yin Jiang look over, they both called out, "YOO YOO," as if greeting him.
Yin Jiang gave a helpless smile and lightly pinched the soft flesh of Si Shuo’s waist. "I’ll go get you some water. We’ll eat together in a bit."
With that, he walked to the bed. Watching the two cubs whose eyes followed his every move, his lips curled into a smile and his voice softened. "Xu Ye, Xuyou, I am your Uncle Yin Jiang. My Beast Form is a Hunting Falcon, one that can fly in the sky."
Hearing this, Xu Ye tilted his head. He grunted with effort, trying to turn over, his fleshy little wings flapping wildly behind him. He was clearly trying to show off his featherless wings.
Si Shuo and Yin Jiang watched his fruitless struggles with amusement.

Xu Ye stopped crying, though teardrops still clung to his face. He let out two soft "YOO YOO" sounds.
Si Shuo felt a little embarrassed watching him. ’He is my cub, after all.’ "That’s right. Cubs should act like cubs. For now, you just need to eat well, drink well, and sleep well. That’s how you’ll grow up big and strong."
The cubs cried "YOO YOO," as if they truly understood and were responding to her.

Si Shuo had slept for too long, and her stomach was already rumbling.
Now that her burdens were lightened, her stomach was no longer compressed. Her appetite was even better than before, and she ate with such happy gusto that Yin Jiang had to keep quietly reminding her to slow down.
She had to stay in the room and couldn’t be exposed to the wind. All the males in the family wanted to come in and talk to her, but the constant coming and going could let in drafts. To prevent this, they had hung two layers of thick, whole Beast Skins over the doorway.

One room was too cramped, so they knocked down the wall between two rooms to combine them.
