Meanwhile, on the other side, Bai Hua and Long Wei had already defeated all the guards from the City Lord’s side and those of the Ru Family.

At this moment, all the members of the Ru family were present, from Ru Guan, who helped Xuan earlier, to Ru Guan’s daughter, Ru Ning, who had a bewildered look on her face.

"I won’t ask you to side with us, but I warn you all to not stand in our way." His tone was stern, giving them one last chance to not fall fully against him.

Ru Fuan, Ru Feng’s father, spoke. Though he was her father, he preferred his position as head of the Ru family and the benefits for the family more than the happiness of his own daughter.

"You are an outsider; you think you can tell us what is right and what is wrong for us? How dare you..."

"Father!"

Ru Feng knew what Xuan was trying to achieve, but it seemed her father, blinded by greed, couldn’t understand that Xuan was trying to give them a final chance for her sake.

"Shut up, you bitch! You dare to side with an outsider against your own family!" Ru Fuan cursed, crossing all limits.

Ru Feng finally lost her composure. "Outsider! He is my husband! The true outsiders were you, who traded my happiness for cultivation resources you could have earned if you had just stepped outside of this city."

Tears streamed from her eyes. She could no longer think of herself as part of such a family, especially now that she had awakened even an ounce of her past life memories.

She might have been reborn here, but this family had given her no good memories, except for those she had with Ru Guan’s family.

Here, her own biological father treated her as a thing, which he traded with Sha Vejun to secure his seat as the current head of the Ru family.

"Your husband was decided years before you even met that man! Your real husband is City Lord Sha Vejun! Just you wait,"

Ru Fuan spat, a voice echoing as he waited for the reinforcements from Sha Vejun’s side.

"He will be here, and he will show you all what happens to those who stand against him!"

Ru Fuan saw Bai Hua’s martial prowess, which was like nothing he had ever seen, and Long Wei’s aura was so powerful that they feared to approach her, preventing him and the other family members from saving Ru Liam and his father.

That’s why, instead of fighting themselves, they waited for reinforcements from Sha Vejun.

Seeing this, Xuan spoke in disappointment, "I thought that it was fear which forced the Ru family to bend in front of Sha Vejun, but I was wrong."

He shook his head; his tone laced with disdain. "To think this was all along a greed—a greed that has made you all into nothing but lapdogs for the Sha family."

They all roared after hearing the insult but couldn’t do much except show their displeasure. Just then, they all heard footsteps and turned toward the newcomers.

The Ru family’s expressions lit up, thinking the newcomers were reinforcements, but then the people ran past them.

"Young lord!" Zhao Zen Wu spoke, standing beside Xuan with his men. "I failed to convince that bastard, Sha Vejun. It seems he’s desperate to see his own downfall."

Zhao Zen Wu bowed and apologized. Now that the situation had come to this, he was prepared to see things through to the end.

Ru Fuan and the elders of the family felt they had seen Zhao Zen Wu somewhere, but they didn’t have a clue he could be the City Lord of Cloud Severing City but their doubts were cleared by Xuan’s next words.

"City Lord Zhao, I found my Feng’er, so consider the promise between us settled. From now on, this is our fight, and if you choose to back off, I won’t blame you."

Xuan’s words not only settled the debt between them regarding the Cloud Severing ancestor but also gave Zhao Zen Wu a chance to retreat.

However, Zhao Zen Wu chose to stay. "Then I choose to stay. No matter the outcome, my people and I are already too deep into this.

Rather than running from here, I choose to stay with Young Master and fight for my own dignity." He didn’t forget the insult he had faced from City Lord Sha Vejun and his son.

"City Lord Zhao! Doesn’t this mean he is Zhao Zen Wu of Cloud Severing City?" Many of the Ru family elders, including Ru Fuan, now had grim expressions on their faces.

’How did City Lord Zhao get involved in this matter? And what is the identity of that man that even City Lord Zhao is treating him with such respect?’

He thought. Just then, hundreds of men began surrounding the Ru family estate.

Sha Lou, accompanied by a few family elders and hundreds of men, encircled them. His eyes then landed on Zhao Zen Wu. "What a small world, City Lord Zhao," he began with a mocking tone.

"My offer still stands. Come crawl your way here, and I’ll treat your daughter well if she tastes good." He chuckled, then his eyes landed on Bai Hua.

"What are you beast folk doing here? Well, since you’re here, you might as well stay and serve my little brother."

He rubbed his hands over his crotch while giving Bai Hua lewd looks. Sha Lou felt as though he was heaven itself, that no one dared to defy him.

His eyes then landed on Long Wei, and he was about to comment on her as well when Xuan interrupted him.
