Bear School Astartes-Chapter 860 - 843: Xiu’s Repair
Now it seems the Qilin is not entirely indifferent to the idea of becoming stronger and more formidable.
Back then, its azure horn was broken by the Golden Lion, then it was almost hammered to death.
This was quite a shock for it.
However, its laid-back nature made it hard to muster any enthusiasm during its peaceful life.
But seeing someone like Lann become significantly stronger in less than a month was certainly appealing to it.
To put it bluntly, it still wanted the heavens to feed it, to reap rewards without effort.
Even though Lann had the option of enhancement surgery, he relied on his knowledge, learning, and research to successfully implant the enhancement organs.
Therefore, Qilin’s urgent wish for a windfall was destined to be in vain.
After realizing that Lann’s growth path was ’custom-made,’ the Qilin spent a good while either tilting its head and snorting or shaking its mane and flicking its hooves.
It looked very displeased.
On the contrary, Lann felt a sense of delight watching the lazy Qilin sulk.
The Lady of the Lake was not by the rift of the celestial spheres.
After all, the tides of Chaos Magic Power had not yet risen; Lann was merely taking a stroll during a lull between two tides.
Yet, as the Demon Hunter gazed across the surface of Vizima Lake, the number of tourist boats didn’t seem to lessen; in fact, there seemed to be even more knights.
Sitting fully armed in those cramped little boats, it was a wonder they weren’t afraid of falling overboard and drowning under the weight of their own armor.
Most of their armors were adorned with their respective family crests, and some helmets were festooned with brightly colored bird feathers, turning them into knights straight out of a storybook.
And just like in the stories, there were corresponding ladies and noblewomen on the boats, their eyes nearly glazed over.
Lann had no doubt that if it weren’t for the boatmen and other people on the lake, their little boats would probably wobble violently for quite a while.
However, Lann wasn’t interested in this, so he mounted the back of the Qilin.
The silk rune cloth of the Magic Horse Harness sparked with crackling blue lightning arcs.
The Qilin kicked up its heels and ran, as if to leave all its troubles behind. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Upon returning to Gos Velen, Lann kept a low profile, since he was still unaware of the current situation with Triss and Margaret, and he wanted to avoid provoking them.
The Qilin discarded the Magic Horse Harness and began to play in the sea, while Rong Buqiu stayed at the academy.
Lann first went to the Valyrian Steel blacksmith workshop, and as expected, Belengar had already returned. This meant Geralt was probably in Gos Velen looking for work too.
"Now, this is curious."
The Demon Hunter Grandmaster Blacksmith had reverted to his shirtless form by the forge, swinging the hammer while jokingly glancing at the little bear nearby.
"Our great hero didn’t immediately throw himself into the arms of women upon returning? Instead, he’s come to visit the old blacksmith?"
Lann was quite experienced with Belengar’s "Wolf School" style of humor.
His smile remained unchanged as he spoke, laced with sarcasm.
"I generally have no particular requirements for being surrounded by women; usually, they’re the ones pulling me... Oh, you must understand that, right? Experienced Grandmaster Blacksmith?"
Sure enough, Belengar’s long face immediately drooped.
Without a doubt, whether when he was a Demon Hunter, a dock laborer, or now a Grandmaster-level Blacksmith, he generally had to pay to satisfy his physical needs.
He never even got a discount! Let alone a freebie!
"Clang," the hammer struck hard on the red-hot iron billet, sending sparks flying all over Lann.
But the Bear School Demon Hunter, relying on his heavy armor, felt nothing at all.
"Hey! Old guy, what the hell is your problem? Got me burnt!"
Fergus, passing by, was scorched a bit and cursed, jumping three feet in the air.
He and Yuna were ready to set up their own blacksmith shop now.
His mentor, the Dwarf Grandmaster Tuer Butcher, was still unaware that his skills hadn’t been passed down to Fergus’s mind but were instead learned by the human girl Yuna.
Tuer expressed satisfaction upon hearing Fergus was going independent, which made Fergus and Yuna a bit guilty, causing emotional fluctuations lately.
However, considering Yuna was someone dedicated to the art of smithing, rather than looking to steal Dwarven techniques just to eventually drive the Dwarves out of the city or even kill them.
Lann felt that Tuer Butcher’s skills being passed on through her wasn’t so bad.
The tuition Fergus paid could be seen as Yuna’s learning fee.
Lann leaned over and patted Fergus on the shoulder, managing to calm him down, then took off the bear fur cloak and the lower armor panels from his own armor, handing them to Belengar.
"I’m here for something serious."
Seeing Lann’s actions, Belengar halted his work and moved to the workbench by the forge.
Lann clattered the substantial armor components down onto the workbench.
"Ran into someone skilled this time. That guy burned a small patch on my shoulder. Help me check the armor."
"Burned your shoulder?"
Belengar looked at Lann in surprise, then ground his molars.
"Alright, nothing from the celestial sphere convergence surprises me anymore. Let me have a look."
He laid out Lann’s armor shoulder piece on the table, running his hand over it inch by inch.
"The bear skin got burned through... tsk tsk tsk, even enchanted bear skin like this, I can imagine how much it hurt."
"But the Valyrian Steel Armor Plate beneath survived, structurally intact. I’ll replace it with new enchanted bear skin for you. As it stands, you might need to cast the Quen Rune two additional times to fill the armor with Chaos Magic Power."
Belengar discussed the solution while explaining the current issue with Lann’s armor.
Under normal circumstances, Lann could cast the Quen Rune twice, and this Bear School Grandmaster Armor would automatically recycle the dissipated Chaos Magic Power to regenerate another Quen Rune.
But the damage to the bear skin on the shoulder clearly reduced the efficiency of reclaiming the dissipated Chaos Magic Power.
"I’ll leave it to you."
Lann said confidently, then seemed to remember something.
He retrieved a parchment from the alchemy pouch at his back, the blueprints drawn in the Ancient Greece world.
"Hmm? What’s this?"
Belengar, while tidying the bear skin cloak, looked at the design diagram spread out before him with interest and inquired.
