Bastard Homunculus: Reborn in the Corpse Pit-Chapter 198: Capture the Flag(Part 5)
Chapter 198: Chapter 198: Capture the Flag(Part 5)
"Hm? These scents...," Muttered Raven, glancing up right as Colt and Lexia appeared by the entrance of the cave, before stepping in and approaching him.
"Hey, this idiot needs immediate healing, he’s burnt all over," Remarked Lexia, as Colt followed after her.
"You really don’t have to, I don’t mind it at all," He grinned, as he poked and prodded at his burns.
"Yeah, I bet you don’t. But those burns look really severe, so I’m going to heal you anyway," Sighed Raven in exasperation, walking over before adding as he healed Colt, "So, what happened out there? It looks like two of our teammates have been eliminated, so if you two have got any good news, that’d be great."
"Hmph, don’t insult us, Raven. We took down the Commander Squad’s team, they’re out of the competition. You’re welcome," Lexia informed him smugly, as Raven began healing her, having finished treating Colt’s burns.
"Woah, for real? That’s great, you guys! Then, your burns, I take it you got those from fighting the Commander?" Raven asked them.
"Mhm, that’s right. And let me tell you, she’s putting off a hell of a lot more heat than she ever did before, I’d have been roasted to a crisp if I didn’t block her flames with my blood. No way were we beating her in a fair fight," Replied Colt with a wry smile.
"I hate to admit it, but she’s right. Though, since you’re immune to flames, her improvement won’t make any difference to you, you’d still be a bad match-up for her," Added Lexia objectively.
"Yeah, I suppose so."
"Also, she’s got a new Spell, called it Flame Zone. She used it to vaporize my Blood Zone in seconds," Responded Colt.
"I don’t like it, the Zone Spells are supposed to be our thing, The Irregulars," Huffed Lexia saltily.
"I mean, it doesn’t really-...wait, but you don’t have a Zone Spell yourself, do you?" Raven asked her uncertainly.
"Huh? The hell are you talking about? I’ve got my Bone Zone Spell, the one that extends out bone spikes from all over my body, remember? I just don’t get a lot of opportunities to use it is all," Lexia reminded him with a huff.
Oh, right...as soon as you said the name, I remembered," Grinned Raven sheepishly, before clearing his throat and adding, "Anyway, did you guys encounter anyone from the other two teams at all?"
"Nope, just the Commander Squad. We first ran into Akila and Kia, we eliminated Kia but Akila got away. But someone else must have taken him down, because the Commander and Hart were by their flag, and they only had two crystals left in their bracelets," Colt informed him.
"And besides that, we didn’t come by anyone else. The playing field spans across a pretty wide area, so I’d say that’s only natural," Pointed out Lexia. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"True...hm, how should we approach this from this point on? We’ve taken out one of the other teams, but besides the three of us, we’ve only got one more person left, one of Celia, Ferd or Laiza. So-...hm? Wait, I’m picking up three scents headed this way, one’s Laiza. The others are...Ravella and Cleaza Opera," Noticed Raven as his nose twitched.
"Raven, step outside the cave, the two of us will go hide and attack when we have an opening," Suggested Lexia, before she and Colt swiftly exited the cave as Raven nodded.
He followed after them, approaching the entrance of the cave and waiting, focusing on his sense of smell and ability to detect Mana, before glancing up as Laiza came into sight, springing out from behind a bush before spinning around and swinging her sword across as a blast of light came shooting towards her, slicing through it and killing its momentum.
She then backed away as fast as she could as waves of high-pitched, ringing sound came shooting out towards her, leaping away to evade it, right as Ravella and Cleaza came into sight.
Laiza backed away as Raven stepped forward, narrowing his eyes at the pair before him.
"Hey, there, bro. Mind stepping aside for a bit?" Ravella greeted him with a smirk.
"If you want to get into this cave, you’re going to have to get past me, sis. And I can assure you, it won’t be easy," Smiled Raven, before unleashing his Aura, Ravella tensing slightly as Laiza and Cleaza shrunk back with a sense of instinctive fear.
Laiza collapsed onto her knees, trembling under the immense, oppressive pressure of Raven’s Aura, beads of sweat running down her face, while Cleaza struggled to stay standing, her face pale as her knees buckled.
Raven swiftly locked his gaze onto her before firing out his beams, her eyes widening in alarm as the pressure of his Aura delayed her reaction, the beams zooming in towards her throat, before the barrier got triggered and teleported her out.
Ravella gritted her teeth to try and withstand her brother’s Aura, before unleashing a devastating barrage of light projectiles towards him, before he swiftly fired off a volley of narrow, rapid flame projectiles, intercepting and canceling out her attacks.
"Damn it, he’s way too strong! There’s no way I can fight him, his Aura is seriously slowing me down, I’m going to need to get away and-...!" Ravella thought to herself, before stiffening as she sensed a presence behind her, turning her gaze back just in time to see Colt zipping in towards her from behind, driving his dagger towards the back of her neck, the barrier teleporting her out before the blade could strike.
"H-Hurry up and suppress your Aura already!" Lexia’s voice rang out, before Raven quickly drew his Aura back in, letting out a slow exhale.
"Aw, man, you could’ve kept it out for at least a little bit longer, you know," Sighed Colt, a disappointed look on his face.
"Th-That was scary. How is it even possible to have an Aura that intense?" Muttered Laiza, still looking pretty shaken.
"Sorry, guys, I didn’t expect it to be that effective. Guess I underestimated how much more powerful my Aura is now that I’ve fully gained control over my power," Grinned Raven sheepishly.
After he managed to stay conscious in his Dark Form and also unleash it at will, his progress with getting his Mana and Aura under control sped up, and about a couple of months ago, he had full control over his Magic.
And the result was an Aura Pressure a good five-plus times greater than anyone else’s in the nation, to the point where his very presence was now a weapon.
"Anyway, what’s our plan now? Aster’s team is down two members, but so are we. The Commander’s team is out of the running, but we don’t know about the First Squad’s team, we should assume that they’re fully intact, just to be safe," Mused Colt thoughtfully.
"Yeah, that’s true," Nodded Raven, mulling over the possible options.
"Um, when I ran into the Third Squad, I was with Ferd, and we were attacked out of nowhere. Their entire team was together, hiding inside an invisibility barrier," Chimed in Laiza.
"No doubt Tacitus’s handiwork. And I doubt an invisibility barrier was all her cast, I bet he set up at least a few more. So, Aster chose to have his entire team stay put, huh? Yeah, that does sound like something he would do," Remarked Raven wryly.
"How annoying, that definitely won’t be easy to deal with. It’s too bad Celia’s out, she could just unload a barrage of explosions at them and eliminate as many of them as possible," Sighed Lexia.
"I don’t think that would work. Aster is capable of protecting multiple people with the increase to the range of his Telekinetic Zone, and that aside, Tacitus could just as easily erase the attacks with his Nullification Zone," Pointed out Colt.
"Yeah...in which case, I think our best move is to take a page out of their book and stay put. It’s time to switch tactics, we’ll wait for the members of the other teams to show up here and then eliminate them as soon as they appear.
There’s no point in going after the Third Squad since I’m the only one here who can breach his Telekinetic Zone, but that’s irrelevant since I can’t move too far away from this spot," Raven pointed out.
"If the remaining members of Aster’s team sticks together, we’ll just be stuck in a stalemate with neither team making a move," Remarked Lexia with a frown.
"Yeah, I’d say it’s about fifty-fifty, no way to find out but wait. We’ll have to hope his teams moves first, and if they don’t, we can use this time to rest up and recover, before making our move. Aster may be powerful, but if we can take down the rest of his team with sneak attacks, it won’t matter. And when it comes to sneak attacks, I know I can count on you two," Smiled Raven, as he glanced between Colt and Lexia...
