Basketball System: Rebound of the Underdog-Chapter 340: Biggest Red House
Kai told himself that he wouldn’t feel provoked. However, with the kids continuously chanting ’onion boy’ and calling him a coward, he didn’t feel too good.
He truly was still a kid at heart, too.
Well, they were probably half his age, but Kai was still a kid!
The two of them stood on the court, with Kai feeling a sense of deja Vu. He could still remember how the same kid beat him back then.
The other kids excitedly chanted their leader’s name.
"Go, Bo!" they exclaimed.
"Bo, huh?" Kai asked, having forgotten his name from before. "That’s pretty cute."
Bo clicked his tongue. "The only one who is cute here is you after your defeat," he confidently said.
"Just so you know, I’m an MVP too," Bo boasted, puffing his chest out. Kai couldn’t help but chuckle. "Sure thing, MVP Bo. Let’s see what you’ve got!"
Bo dribbled the ball with speed, weaving between his small legs with unexpected agility.
Kai, caught off guard, stumbled for a moment before recovering with a grin.
This kid wasn’t lying when he said that he was an MVP.
He has a great foundation already.
"Quick feet, Little Bo! You’ve been practicing."
Bo clicked his tongue. "Don’t call me little!"
With that, he dribbled around Kai, who lunged to intercept but missed by a few inches. The kids on the sidelines erupted into laughter.
"Onion boy can’t catch someone who is half his size!" one of the kids teased, sending the others into fits of giggles.
Kai rubbed the back of his neck, playing along. "Hey, I’m just warming up, alright?"
He tilted his head to the side. "What is this?" he muttered.
The ball wasn’t as fast as that of his other opponents, but he was still having a difficult time.
Bo took advantage of Kai’s distraction and dribbled towards the basket. He executed a low dribble, and that was when Kai realized what the problem was.
The kid was too small for him! He had to bend his knees if he wanted to catch the ball!
Kai dove for the ball, but Bo smoothly evaded him and shot a perfect jump shot. The ball swished through the net, and the kids cheered wildly.
"Bo scores!" they shouted, jumping up and down.
Kai pursed his lips, finding himself frustrated.
Bo grinned proudly, chest still puffed out. "Told you I’m good!"
The game continued, and each round was filled with playful banter and nimble moves from Bo that kept Kai on his toes. Despite his best efforts, Kai found himself outmaneuvered time and again by the determined kid.
By the end of it all, Kai was slumped on the dirty floor of the court, feeling frustration consume him.
Meanwhile, the kids surrounding them continued to cheer for Bo, who was looking down at Kai with a smug expression.
Kai pursed his lips.
He couldn’t believe that history repeated itself!
He was a master now, but he was still defeated by a little kid?
It was then that Kai realized that he still had a lot to improve on.

[Unofficial match loss: -2 XP]
[Current level: Master (185/300)]
Kai’s frown eased as soon as he saw his XP increase.
Well, it seemed like the loss wasn’t too bad after all.
Just then, he felt the rubber ball against his lap. He lifted his head and looked up, only to see Bo shyly looking down at him with a marker in hand.
"What’s this?" Kai asked.
Bo pursed his lips and evaded his gaze.
"Sign the ball," he shyly said.
Kai internalized his words for a few seconds before a wide smile made its way to his face.
"Eyy," he teased. "Are you a fan of mine, little one?"
Bo clicked his tongue, a pout playing on his lips. Looking at him like this, he actually looked pretty cute.
"I’m not," he denied. "I just watched some of your games because of my brother, and I thought you were cool."
Kai smiled and uncapped the marker before signing the ball.
"Is your brother a fan, too?"
"Of course not!" Bo exclaimed. "My brother is still cooler than you."
With that, Bo grabbed the ball and looked at Kai’s signature with bright eyes.
Kai couldn’t help but chuckle. The little boy’s actions contraindicated his words.
"Xiao!"
Just then, a familiar voice was heard across the court.
"I knew that you were here. Mom’s looking for you."
The voice was getting nearer, so Kai stood from the ground.
"I told you to stop playing basketball so much, right? Your tutor is already in the house. You should study hard so that dad—"
Kai’s eyes widened as soon as he recognized the man before him.
"Yuze?" he exclaimed.
Yuze’s eyes also widened as he pointed at Kai.
"What are you doing here?" Yuze asked.
"I delivered some onions," Kai muttered.
"What about you?" he asked, looking back and forth between Yuze and Bo.
Just then, everything clicked on the place.
"Xiao?"
"Bo?"
Kai’s eyes widened further. "This kid is Xiaobo? Your brother? The troublesome kid that doesn’t want to go to school?"
Yuze sighed. "Yes," he deadpanned.
Bo smirked as he stood next to his brother. "See? I told you that my brother’s cooler than you."
Kai pursed his lips since he couldn’t really deny it.
Yuze clicked his tongue as he held onto the little kid’s collar.
"What did I tell you?" he asked. "You need to go home now."
"But I don’t want to! We haven’t even played a full game yet," Xiaobo complained.
Yuze shook his head and carried him bridal style. "You’re coming with me."

Kai watched their backs with amusement.
So, the two were actually siblings, huh? It made a lot of sense, considering that Bo’s playing style was similar to Yuze’s.
"Bo’s brother is really cool!" one of the little kids said. "Bo always says that he wants to be like him."
"Their dad is really cool, too. He’s also good at basketball!" another chimed.
"Oh, really?" Kai asked. "Is his dad here, too?"
"Yes," they responded. "They live by the end of the village…"
"…in the biggest red house!"
