Chapter 90: Scene XC

— Don’t be brusque. It’s not waste you’re giving, Aslak. She won’t like you if you’re not proper. —

’... Will she?... Effing earth, and legends for the mates...’ — Turning on his feet concerned, Aslak grumbled yet responded to the fair woman. — "A proper bath... I’ll take first."

"... A-alright... Uhm. That– I– I noticed Husband’s clothes..."

"I rushed here. I soaked at Passim Watersturl before climbing." — Taking off the shoulder pads and shirt... That one he wore when he left, Aslak told her naturally.

The woman’s eyes observed the man innocently and excited at the sight of his wide back, happiness commenced to settle in her chest. Even in the uncomfortable state of a female body, the flutter of her heart only enhanced after hearing the motive behind the humid appearance of the man.

"... Rushed..." — She mumbled to herself, shrinking before inquiring properly so he could hear. — "What made you rush...? D-Did something happen?"

"..."

The glance he gave the woman in silence, then made him turn to face a hopeful youth. And as blunt as his nature made him, Aslak answered candidly, looking into the timid eyes of his wife.

"If I arrived earlier. More time we could share... The others. I left them behind to get here sooner and meet you." — The last of his words were said as his steps took him to the gates to request the needed tub for cleaning his still dirty body.

Ewelina blushed from joy and staying seated at the edge of their mattress, her hair was timidly combed... While a yearnful hand clenched the furs that covered her nights. Regretful... For the luck of this day.

’How disparaging... Feminine nature... This time I lament your visit for I strongly wish to be held by my spouse.’

Her legs were watched, regretting her state. And once the sound of a closing door reached her, Ewelina turned back to peek at the man.

Tall and strong, dirt was still on him yet no big wound could be seen on his body. Ewelina watched him pace leisurely, to get the wine always available in their chambers. The tilt of his head that drank with quick thirst was admired. Silently. However, it was said silence that surrounded them along with the familiar presence of the man that pushed the woman to speak.

"I... It delights me. Being able to see you, husband. Furthermore that you came back unharmed... It is a relief for this wife."

Tok... The sound of his jack cut their air.

And followed by his sigh, Aslak couldn’t look back at his woman, for her words were difficult after understanding many matters during his travels.

"Woman... It’s maddening there’s red flowing... Don’t make it harder."

"..... I... Husband..."

"I also missed you. So don’t say anymore or I’ll have to leave to calm myself."

"... Don’t leave..." — Biting her lip, Ewelina tearfully requested from the joyful fluster his words gave birth to. And it was as she tried to gain the courage to look at him that his shadow arrived next to her, bending to glare into her brown eyes...

"Anything else was fine?"

"... Yes."

"What about tonight? We can’t–"

"W–We can! Hu– Aslak... we can sleep here... Together... nonetheless... without tangling..." — Slightly ashamed to say such because of her state, Ewelina lowered her head to tell him.

"... Alright... But don’t tempt me with words."

A graze on his lips was given by the woman, although he only was to rub his nose against hers as affection.

"I will not." — She said, gracefully. Yet his hand stopped her visage from another attempt, taking her jaw firmly but careful in strength.

"... Don’t tempt me with tenderness. Let me be who does things or it will be difficult, woman."

"...."

To the conflict in his expression whose eyes only stared at her lips and peeked at the cleavage of her sleep gown, Ewelina stayed silent. Shivering from the thrill of his manliness.

The one knock on their door resounded and at his voice that let them in, servants entered, making the Lord raise to instruct them.

"Just leave it. I’ll pour it."

The servants fled the space meant for the couple at his order. Aslak watched their departure and went to the tub to pour the water, undressing completely to soak in the waters.

"... Don’t stare too."

"... What am I allowed to do in that case?"

"..... I wonder. Yet even I didn’t stare as shamelessly at your naked body, woman."

"!? You– You couldn’t have stared... I usually cover."

"The reflecting glasses at your private chambers aided greatly the first time."

"!!"

A wicked smirk was given. The man’s warning seemed shallow as he did not care to hide his nudity and getting into his tub, Aslak smiled as he told the embarrassed woman. — "I would flaunt it usually. But right now I better not do it for our sake."

His words were frustrating to the woman. Yet even in her state, it did not mean she was to act weak all day.

She stood, feeling the flow fall on the rag that needed to be changed. And walking to the door to her private chambers where she knew a basin would be prepared, Ewelina left without saying a word to quickly cleanse herself.

"? Woman?" — However, the man who was washing his face while soaking in the warm water flashed his head at the familiar sound of a closed door, looking back to see Ewelina was gone.

"..... Kh... Fuck!" — Misunderstanding, Aslak growled, tilting back his head as a deep frown occurred from the conflicting thought of unknowingly upsetting the woman.

"What to do now... She’s difficult." — The man mumbled, unaware that it was ignorance that made him think such.

The crafty pouch he had left safely aside was glanced at and his eyes squinted pondering how it was that his gift would be given if his wife was unhappy with his manners.

"Shit. I want to see the thing on her cheek when I give it." — He thought. Saying it aloud. Opening his eyes to release the frustration by diving into the water.

He stayed down for as long as he could. Solely to feel the warmth of the water around his face to rise again calmer, unfolding his limb to reach the blade meant to cut a growing beard. This time, doing so to also look good for his woman.

It was then that the distinctive door opened and her steps were heard softly behind him as he feigned composure at the noticeable approach of her sound.

Wearing a clean gown and a new rag between her legs. Ewelina peeked at the man from his side. Meeting his eyes to cue the birth of his question.

"You’re back?"

"I also am to cleanse, husband... Although not like you are." — She hesitated, for the shyness and conservative sense of the woman knew the man was nude in the tub. Nonetheless, the steps took her nearer to Aslak’s side. Eventually, she sat, on the edge of his wide bathtub, facing him so the lower half of his body wouldn’t enter her sight. — "Your beard... I see it already disappeared."
