Chapter 108: Scene CVIII

It was a glare he had received many times before. Much more often once the fated lung appeared in Aslak’s life. Nevertheless, the judged man’s frown was as common, hence, a wicked smile then was given to the woman that gently observed their interaction, relieved that this time no violence was occurring between the two leaders.

"Ewelina Myrkzver." — Then the warlock said as he wasn’t to engage in a long conversation with the couple. — "If a time comes this arse faces these learnings I keep telling uselessly... See it in yourself through your wisdom... And forgive him if the pain allows you to."

"... I..."

The brown in her eyes shined as they widened at what his sayings conveyed. Yet the start of a response could not continue, for fear quickly invaded the female whose beliefs told her that it was the failure in her search that could only bring such mentioned pain.

"I wouldn’t–"

"Shut the mouth, Aslak. It’s not with you that I’m talking to." — It was truly meant by Otrur Nolsvun, the threat his glare contained when warning the man, cutting into an unwanted reply.

The Tribe’s Head turned to look at Ewelina, deeply with unmatched hues that emitted an unspoken message which had no translation in her head... yet was enough for her to understand it would be alright for her to agree to his mysterious request.

Her head lowered to contemplate, and the pained expression that uncertainty brought was held within herself; because the need to have faith in this life the earth had given as a last opportunity... Was Ewelina’s hope for happiness.

"... I..."

Humble, her smile was given to the warlock while her hand clenched the man’s. Uninterested in the feel of the blood they were soaked in.

"If such a time comes... May the earth permit the pain to be brief... And forgiveness will undoubtedly come."

"... Your past was difficult, Ewelina Myrkzver."

"..."

His hand, as red as theirs, was extended for Ewelina to hold, and intensely he stared into her anxious stares while her clean hand came to take his, returning the considerate squeeze of the wise savage whose silence was affectionate even when rough in gaze.

The sight of the bracelet decorating her arm lifted his corners further and lastly, words for her spouse were told.

"... You... Care for your luck, Aslak. This time listen." — Straightforwardly, Otrur Nolsvun declared. Nodding to the woman as he went away with the long axe he also used as support to walk around.

"..."

The couple stood silent at the sight of the drifting Head. Yet Aslak’s gaze quickly fell on the woman, who did not take long before meeting the intense amber of an upset beast.

"... I wouldn’t hurt you."

"... I am aware..."

"..."

Sadness was discerned in her umber hues, although sincerity was also conveyed in her tone. Nonetheless, the spouse felt unsettled once more, as the desire to forbid the sadness from within her arose powerfully.

"I wouldn’t hurt you."

"... Yes." — This time her head lowered to softly smile her response. Only enhancing Aslak’s concern with a deeper scowl as ignorant ponder occurred inside.

’... How to make the cheek show her delight... Damn it... Trur made Fatædi upset.’

Trouble was now his to put up with. However, even when desiring for good to be done for his wife, Aslakwas conscious that his nature would lead him in rough ways he feared Ewelina would not appreciate. Even so... a risk was taken. For the Barbaric man lacked hesitation before ignorance.

"Let’s go up the boulder. I will kill him tomorrow."

"... Husband, what are you saying?"

"Trur made wife upset. It’s the only way he will shut up."

"... Hahaha." — True laughter was sweetly released by Ewelina, causing the dimple to appear on the cheek he kept watch in. — "Yet Aslak, that is not a solution that would solve my spirit."

"But it did. It appeared again... Here." — Unconvinced he declared. While the finger that touched the dimple also caressed her visage that continued to smile at the apparently innocent manners of her spouse.

Ewelina admired the man’s attitude in stillness, letting her skin relish in his touch to finally continue the conversation.

"My spouse ought to learn more about his wife... It is not what you said you would do, but why you said such that this on my cheek appeared."

"... Odd woman."

"Hahaha... And you are inconsiderate... Sometimes."

"... Sometimes?"

"I take notice of my lung’s behaviour." — Continuing to smile at him, Ewelina found entertainment in his confusion. Becoming mellifluous in her essence as she innocently peeked from her short height at the man that had yet to receive an answer she could grant. — "Will you take me to the home in the boulder now? I do agree it is time we return."

"That’s right." — Smirking finally to the wife’s utterings he could understand, Aslak immediately moved accordingly. Taking her along as the walk commenced.

"Hm. If my husband is smiling, does that mean the grudge against me has been forgiven?"

"No."

"Huh?" — Surprised that he did not agree and instead furrowed his brows, Ewelina could only afford to blink.

"I don’t forgive easily. And... You haven’t stopped tempting me. I only hold more grudge now, Fatædi."

*******

Unlike the last time they rose from below, the Archdukes strolled their path into their residence at a calm pace. Without the red in their hands as they had cleansed the colour at Passim Watersturl.

Men would salute them as they paced in quiet ambience,z as the moon was already ruling the cloudy sky while kind praises were also told mostly to the woman.

"Ma’am, a savage’s clothing suits you as expected!"

"Her Illustrious Grace indeed has the gracefulness needed to even improve it, haha!"

"Blessed thee Earth, kind men." — Elegantly she would answer, causing pride to be felt on such men until her spouse’s glare was met.

Servants did the same, causing the spouse to ponder on better ways to praise the woman belonging to his soul.

’She smiles to praise... What else could I tell...’ — The man thought seriously while small talk was exchanged with some females in their path. Useless as romance was difficult for the wild one. — ’Haaa. I only can think of taking her.’

Wish to rush to their shared chambers raised. Nonetheless, soon after entering the Spiked Barbican, his eye caught sight of an unavoidable obstacle, for she had met his eye and ensured trouble.

"!!? Masteeeer!! Master’s Wifeeee!!!" — The brakian child that had been dismissed from their floor the day he organized little matters of the fief, appeared. Running joyfully to meet them as the sight was rare for the child.

"Oh, Nu! It has been days since I last saw you."

"Yes, Master’s Wife!! Nu has been obedient and has stayed away from the chambers my Masters rest!!"

"Kid."

"Gasp! Nu was not to tell!" — Realising her fast mistake, the child concealed her mouth under tiny hands.

"... Did His Grace forbid Nu from our chambers?"

"..."

"... I did." — Annoyed to confess, Aslak announced shamelessly as his eyes rolled. For the child would not speak, cautious to not upset him.

"... I see. Hence that is why I could not hear Nu around."

"Nu is an obedient child..."

A sigh left the woman at Nu’s sorry eyes. Regardless, she could excuse Aslak’s reasons, as marital activities were not to be seen by a child.

’Yet I doubt that is the only reason behind his prohibition.’

"... Gasp?! Master’s Wife... And Master... You are holding hands!!" — The mainglousse that had lowered her head from guilt later said, after catching a glimpse of the spouse’s bond. — "Master!! Are you walking Master’s Wife around the Castle?! Nu always holds Master’s Wife’s hand!! Hehehe!"

"..."

"... It could be said that is the case. Haha."

"Master’s Wife’s hand is soft and nice! Nu is allowing Master to hold it since Nu is also a fair child!" — Proud as she believed Ewelina’s hand was solely for her to take, Nu’s innocence came out to tell.

Only to invoke the intense frown and retort from the Master she served.

"It’s me who allows you to hold it, kid."
