Back to the Past to Become a Fishing King-Chapter 625 - 363: Another Side of Han Mocheng (Part 2)
"Before the qualifying match, when I taught you how to use the rod, I already warned you. Now you're still not taking it seriously! If your attitude continues to be this improper, I'll really have to deal with you!"
While Zhang Yang spoke, he deliberately poked Xiaobao's trapezius muscle on his back with his index finger.
"Ouch, ouch!" Xiaobao grimaced, instinctively straightening his back.
"This time it's your first offense, so I'll give you a symbolic reminder. Next time, I won't be so polite.
Since you want to make a living from this, you have to meet my standards. I, Zhang Yang, am not a parent who spoils their child. I never joke about serious matters!"
Zhang Yang spoke as he looked around. Not far away, there was a large broom for cleaning. He casually walked over to it.
These outdoor brooms are made of woven and tied bamboo sticks with some leaves. The handle is as thick as a pinky finger.
Zhang Yang pulled a bamboo stick from the broom somewhat roughly in front of Xiaobao, simply trimmed the small branches clean, and held it silently in his hand.
Xiaobao saw this scene from the corner of his eye, and his legs started to tremble a little.
When Xiaobao was in school, he liked to sneak out at night to the internet café, and his homeroom teacher often used this thing to discipline him. The thin bamboo rod hurt much more than a couple of kicks or slaps.
On the day of the official rod practice before the team participated in the competition, Zhang Yang also pulled out a bamboo stick mostly to scare him but didn't actually hit Xiaobao with it. But from Zhang Yang's demeanor just now, it didn't seem like he was just scaring him this time. If he doesn't listen to the captain, he might actually get a taste of it.
"Stop second-guessing in your mind; this thing is just to help you remember! I've emphasized the casting posture and sitting posture to you last time, yet after competing outside and coming back, you still haven't made any progress. Are you treating my words as if they're going in one ear and out the other?
My words are always reliable. If you're sloppy again, you can only blame yourself if you get beaten. I've already said it, so no complaining later!"
Zhang Yang muttered a few words, holding the bamboo rod in his hand, looking somewhat like a drill instructor during military training.
At this point, Xiaobao naturally dared not entertain any wishful thinking, straightening his back and repeatedly casting the fishing rod as instructed.
The main purpose of the first formal training session's rule-setting was more important than the content of the training itself. Seeing Xiaobao sitting upright and proper, Zhang Yang secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
...
As Zhang Yang got into the rhythm of disciplining Xiaobao, who was a fresh recruit in the team, Han Mocheng also arrived at the bait production factory under Zhang Yang Company.
The actual person in charge of the factory, Old Liu, had already received Zhang Yang's call, so he was very polite to Han Mocheng, who drove a Land Cruiser to the factory for a 'trial training.'
In the morning, Old Liu took young Han for a simple tour around the workshop, and at noon, they ate lunch in the cafeteria with other employees. After eating and drinking enough, Old Liu took Han Mocheng to the production workshop in the afternoon.
According to Old Liu's plan, he wanted Han Mocheng to just get a feel for each process to go through the motions, counting as completing his task.
But Han Mocheng himself didn't want to just go through the motions.
Unlike when Xiaobao first came to the factory, Han Mocheng showed great enthusiasm for the production line of the bait factory and various bait processing and manufacturing processes.
"Uncle, what should we do this afternoon? I've been fishing for so long, but this is my first time at a bait factory! Could you show me some knowledgeable work?"
Han Mocheng communicated very respectfully with Old Liu and quietly opened a pack of cigarettes he brought with him, offering one to Old Liu.
"Knowledgeable work? What do you want to understand? President Zhang called me and said to let you go through the motions, just to spruce up your resume, without specific requirements!" Old Liu lit the cigarette, speaking unhurriedly.
"Let's look at the yellow bait production workshop! Best if we can understand the processes involved! I don't mind a bit of hard work. I can handle it!"
"Alright! Follow me, and in the afternoon we'll first spend some time in the mixing process, helping out with the workers!"
"Okay! I'll listen to you. Whatever you arrange, I'll do it!"
Without comparison, there's no harm. Not only is there an age difference of a few years between Han Mocheng and Xiaobao, but in dealing with people and handling matters, Han Mocheng showed much higher emotional intelligence than Xiaobao.
His speaking, handling of tasks, and ability to observe people's expressions and moods all made Old Liu feel very comfortable. In just half a day, he had left a very good impression on Old Liu.
Old Liu took Han Mocheng to the bait production mixing workshop, where several workers were slowly adding various raw materials to the feed opening on the assembly line.
Soybean meal, wheat germ, corn grits, by-products of grain processing, shrimp powder, and fish meal were added separately to different feed openings, then mixed. Once a certain state was achieved, they were sent to the extruder for puffing and pelletizing.
When it came to working, Han Mocheng showed no signs of being pampered. He spat, pulled out a pair of cotton gloves he prepared in advance from his pocket, put them on, picked up a shovel, and joined the workforce.
Han Mocheng had excellent physical fitness and was very efficient at work. After understanding the requirements, he started working silently and enthusiastically. When he got tired, he didn't force himself but rested for a while, leaning on the shovel handle and chatting with the fellow workers.
Taking advantage of the short gap while add materials to the feed opening was complete, young Han took out his cigarettes and shared them with everyone to smoke together, quickly becoming one of the group with several production workers.
These things made Old Liu's impression of young Han even better, but this wasn't the end. What really made Old Liu see Han Mocheng in a different light was a small matter.
No matter whose cigarette it was, once it was smoked down to the filter, Han Mocheng would proactively collect the cigarette butts and put them in his pocket naturally. When a coworker asked what he wanted with the butts, he just smiled without saying anything.
Polite, high EQ, and very meticulous in his work, in a few short hours, Old Liu had already started to like this courteous young man.
When it was time to leave work in the evening, Han Mocheng went with Old Liu to the factory canteen for dinner.
On the way to the cafeteria, Old Liu knowingly asked, "Young Han, I saw you collecting all the cigarette butts in the workshop. What are you planning to do with them?"
Han Mocheng grinned, "According to the fire safety regulations, our bait production workshops, which have a lot of organic dust, should be no-smoking areas to prevent dust fires and explosions!
But the rules are dead, and people are alive! The mixing area is all raw materials, so there's not much dust, which is why I dared to give the coworkers a few cigarettes to smoke!
Once the cigarettes are smoked, safety in production cannot be ignored. The cigarettes handed out by me, I take responsibility to collect back. It's good for everyone!
Even if we don't consider the safety production issue, if by chance a butt enters the feed opening, it could affect the quality of our bait!"
Old Liu nodded satisfied, "You're quite meticulous, not bad! After spending an afternoon in the workshop, how do you feel, have you gained anything?"
"Yes, I've learned! So the primary materials for making yellow bait are mostly grains and animal proteins! I was embarrassed to say it, but I always thought that yellow bait and traditional stir-fry bait were made of different materials!"
"What you asked isn't a secret in the industry! I have no problem telling you. Many farms now feed commodity fish using floating pellets, which are puffed, have a high water absorption rate, and are light-weight. The puffed pellets are then crushed, sifted, and mixed according to a certain proportion, and with the addition of compound attractants, they become the small yellow bait sold in the market!
And traditional stir-fried commodity bait you ask? Tomorrow, I can take you to see another production line. In traditional commodity bait formulations, some of the grain materials need to be stir-fried to a fragrant completion and blended! Some materials also go through a curing process but lack the puffing step!
Due to the different production techniques of the bait, the traditional baits generally have a heavier weight, while these puffed baits like yellow ones can be made to be much lighter!
The different processing techniques of the materials lead to different performances of the finished bait! This is something that needs consideration in bait production when formulating different bait recipes!
Only by comprehensively weighing flavor type, state, weight, cost, and several different dimensions can we find the optimal solution for a matured commodity bait aimed at the masses!"
