Back to the Past to Become a Fishing King-Chapter 624 - 363: Han Mocheng’s Other Side
"Then I'll follow the leader! I'll go all out against him!"
Having heard things said to this extent, Xiaobao fully recognized the situation and gritted his teeth, declaring his stance publicly.
Xiaobao, Liu Zi, Meng Fan, and the others, who are currently training with Zhang Yang's team, aren't creating much actual value. Frankly, they are mainly consuming Zhang Yang's passion and, to a lesser extent, the future commercial potential after achieving some success.
From a business perspective, Zhang Yang's decision isn't wise. There are many variables involved, and if not handled carefully, it could end up being a losing deal.
Through simple conversation and chatting, ten minutes of break time passed by before anyone realized it.
Zhang Yang glanced at the watch on his wrist and continued, "Break time is over, warm-up is done, now onto the first section of formal casting practice.
Put the 3.6-meter rod aside and take out the 5.4-meter one. One hundred casts per set, ten sets in total! A one-minute break between each set."
"Okay!"
Xiaobao nodded, got up, put the 3.6-meter rod in the rod bag, and secured it as instructed by Zhang Yang, replacing it with the 5.4-meter long rod.
In competitive fishing matches, unless there are special rules, normally the 5.4-meter rod is the limit for rod length used in competitions.
Regular competitions are generally divided into two sections, 3.6 meters for target fish, 4.5 or 5.4 meters for mixed fishing.
Zhang Yang directly let Xiaobao start practicing with the 5.4-meter rod, based on the experience gained from training Liu Zi and Meng Fan earlier.
In fixed casting posture, the longer the rod, the harder it is to cast.
Practicing with a 15-footer, which is a 4.5-meter rod, might still be difficult with an 18-footer, but if it's the other way around, it's much easier.
Under Zhang Yang's watchful eye, Xiaobao equipped the 5.4-meter rod with the fishing gear and then began to find the bottom, adjusting the float back and forth.
Seeing this, Zhang Yang said from behind, "Pushing the float is not random; there's a trick to it.
The water depth in fishing grounds is generally fixed. You can use the float seat's relative position on the rod to roughly determine the water depth!
Our practice pond's water depth is about 1.8 meters. Look, on the rod it's around one and a half sections. Just push the float seat to around that position, then simply fine-tune according to the exposed part of the float!"
As Zhang Yang spoke, he quickly grabbed Xiaobao's fishing line from behind, just taking a glance, and rubbed it against his face, then easily pushed both the space beans used for positioning and the float seat to the approximate depth.
While pushing, Zhang Yang reminded, "The space beans I'm giving you are of relatively good quality silicone beans. Normally, the locking level is relatively high!
So when adjusting the position on the fishing line, always remember to rub a little oil from your face or hair for lubrication.
No matter the circumstances, never skimp on pushing space beans.
A lot of people use decent quality, high-priced imported fishing lines, and silicone space beans that cost about seven or eight bucks a set, but they frequently break the main line, especially at the float seat or lead seat positions. The issue lies in this inconspicuous detail.
The higher the locking degree of the silicone beans, without sufficient lubrication, the more heat is generated when adjusting the position. Even the best fishing line will have its coating frayed after a few dry rubs!"
"Uh-huh, got it! Always rub some oil every time I push the float! My uncle taught me to use spit or wet the line in water! Doesn't that work?" Xiaobao nodded and raised his question.
Zhang Yang shook his head, "Spit or water from the pond may seem effective, but it's unstable. The adhesion of water on the fishing line is very low. The first bean may not be an issue, but as you push upward, the beans behind lose the water lubrication!
But grease is different, its lubricating and adhesive qualities are far superior to ordinary spit or pond water. So, I don't need to say much about what to choose, do I?"
"Got it!! Use oil from the face or hair for lubrication!" Xiaobao nodded and kept this usually unnoticed detail in mind.
In the process of talking, Xiaobao also located the water depth and tentatively cast a rod.
The rod was longer, increasing the difficulty of casting and decreasing the accuracy of where the fishing gear lands. Xiaobao felt notably strained while casting.
Seeing several casts from Xiaobao having unsatisfactory landings, Zhang Yang's heart softened a bit.
"Come, lift the rod! Change the weight to a larger piece of lead!"
Xiaobao complied, lifting the rod.
Zhang Yang wrapped an additional layer of lead on the already roughly 2g lead weight, raising the total weight to about 3.5g to 4g, almost doubling the balance.
With the increased lead weight, the whole fishing gear's center of gravity changed noticeably, and the casting became significantly smoother. Xiaobao tried a few consecutive casts, finally reaching a satisfactory level.
"Hey, with the added lead, casting feels much smoother! Boss, my casting posture is good, right?" Xiaobao asked with a grin as he felt satisfied while casting.
"The casting force posture is fine, but your sitting posture has slumped! If you don't want issues with waist, legs, neck, and shoulders when you get older, keep your back straight!
Sitting posture is a rigid standard reflecting an angler's attitude. Anyone from our team, regardless of who, no matter where they fish, should not be sloppy and lose face. I, Zhang Yang, can't afford that kind of disgrace!
