Chapter 357: Chapter 367: Lesson_1

Chen Dajun sneered, "Do you think your father would have no money at retirement? They must be afraid that you would share the money. Look how your sisters-in-law please your mother, she had always been so independent, but now she even helps look after your second sister-in-law’s child. I’m sure your parents have given them money. Look at all those children’s clothes on the couch, they are all new. How many families nowadays can afford that many new clothes for their children? Your second sister-in-law doesn’t even have a job and your second brother, how much could he have made? Your parents must have made up for their shortcomings."

"Good point, keep talking." As soon as Chen Dajun finished speaking, Lu Aiguo applauded, came out from behind the courtyard gate, a look of mockery on his face.

Caught off guard by Lu Aiguo’s presence, Chen Dajun, his voice shaky, said, "Brother, don’t be fooled either. In the end, all the money will go to your second brother’s family. Isn’t Yueyue going to need money in the future?"

Lu Aiguo snorted, "Don’t fool me with that. Even if I throw all my family’s money away, I won’t give it to you. Leave now. I’m in a good mood today, next time I won’t let you off so easily."

Lu Ruixue protested to Lu Aiguo again, "What right do you have to drive us away? This is also my parents’ home."

Lu Aiguo ignored her and pointed at Chen Dajun, swearing, "Get the hell out of here. If you talk nonsense again next time, I’ll rip your tongue out."

Chen Dajun hesitated for a moment, then turned to Lu Ruixue, "Everyone has a low opinion of me. I’m too embarrassed to stay. You stay here and I’ll come back for you when I have money." His tone was one of helplessness and reluctance.

Lu Aiguo rushed over, kicked Chen Dajun, and cursed, "Get lost, you bastard."

Upon seeing that Chen Dajun was genuinely leaving, Lu Ruixue, upset, said, "Big brother, Dajun doesn’t have any money, where is he supposed to go?"

"If you’re so concerned about him, why don’t you go with him? You can beg for food or catch the northwest wind together. Hurry up and leave," Lu Aiguo said, turning and going back into the yard.

Lu Ruixue didn’t dare to speak again and followed Lu Aiguo into the courtyard. When Lu Aiguo got angry, he didn’t recognize anyone. He’d throw her out if he said so.

When everyone only saw Lu Ruixue entering by herself and not Chen Dajun, no one said a word. Lu Zhanguo handed Xiaopang to Gu Xiaobei and said, "Sit down for a while, I need to step out."

Lu Songyuan, Lu Aiguo, and Ji Xiangdong found a crossbeam and prepared to make a TV antenna.

Yueyue was busy pulling grass to feed the lambs. Gu Xiaobei and Fang Jing were in the kitchen, holding the child and watching Bai Xiaolan wash dishes.

Lu Ruixue entered the room and lay down when she found she had no place in the conversation.

Wen Xiuqing and Zhou Siping were sitting under the grape trellis chatting. Zhou Siping sighed, "Your family is really having a good time."

Wen Xiuqing nodded, "Yes, I never thought there would be such a day. I was such a mess before."

"Don’t think about the unhappy past. Live life to the fullest. After Xiaolan marries into your family, you need to take good care of her. She is indeed a bit of a troublemaker and can’t stay still," Zhou Siping couldn’t help but say.

Hearing her mother’s loud voice in the kitchen, Bai Xiaolan couldn’t help but complain: "Is that my real mom? Who talks like this? It sounds as if marrying Brother Ji would be a disaster."

Gu Xiaobei and Fang Jing laughed, Gu Xiaobei, looking admiringly at Bai Xiaolan. This is her mother’s concern for her daughter’s future.

Lu Zhanguo had not returned by dinner time. After eating, Lu Aiguo’s family and Gu Xiaobei went to stay at her house.

Ji Xiangdong saw Zhou Siping and Bai Xiaolan off to the dormitory. Zhang Chunlan had moved to another dormitory, where she was the only occupant.

Once in the dormitory, Zhou Siping couldn’t help but say, "If I hadn’t come, would you not have planned to tell us, that you and Xiangdong are dating?"

Bai Xiaolan was taken aback. Had her mother been keeping score, she said, laughing, "How could that be? I was planning to write to you and dad to tell you."

At this point, Zhou Siping suddenly burst into tears which startled Bai Xiaolan, "Mum, what happened? The day was fine, why are you crying all of a sudden?"

"How do you suddenly want to get married? You’re going so far away as well. From now on, we’ll only be able to see each other every few years. What should your father and I do when we miss you?" With tears in her eyes, Zhou Siping revealed her heartache. Whether her daughter was married or not, both scenarios were distressing.

Bai Xiaolan heartlessly teased Zhou Siping, "Mum, by that logic, I might as well not get married, and go back to Capital City with you and bother you for the rest of your lives, okay?"

With a stern look, Zhou Siping, again, rebuked her playful daughter, "You need to behave yourself in the future. Fang Jing and Xiaobei are not difficult to get along with. If you sisters-in-law can get along well, it would put my mind at ease. Also, you need to learn to cook. What would you do if Xiangdong isn’t home? Wait until you starve to death?"

Bai Xiaolan said, surprised, "Mum, you’re talking as if I’m getting married tomorrow. We haven’t even decided on a date yet!"

With red-rimmed eyes, Zhou Siping looked at her clueless daughter and couldn’t help but touch her face, "You... even when you get married, you’re still such a handful. You’re going to cause Xiangdong so many problems."

Bai Xiaolan hugged Zhou Siping and laughed, "Mum, how could you say that? Your daughter has many good qualities."

Zhou Siping smiled and looking at her pampered daughter said, "Yes, your biggest strength is causing trouble."

"Your father and brother surely won’t be able to make it. Remember to call your father when you have time. If you and Xiangdong have time, you should visit Capital City. When I return, I’ll mail you your household register..." Zhou Siping continued to brief her.

Bai Xiaolan felt a lump in her throat as Zhou Siping continued, "Mum, if you keep talking, I’ll cry. Don’t worry, I’ll visit you all every year."

.......

When Lu Aiguo arrived at Gu Xiaobei’s house, he was still murmuring, "How could Bai Xiaolan become the eldest sister-in-law, and rule over me for the rest of her life?"

Fang Jing laughed, her mouth hardly opening, "Look at your useless self. Besides, I think Bai Xiaolan being the eldest sister-in-law is quite good. If we had someone calculating, life would be miserable."

Lu Aiguo nodded, "Wife, you’re right. We already have one troublemaker at home, we can’t have another one."

Looking at the playful Lu Aiguo, Gu Xiaobei laughed and asked, "How’s your business going lately?"

Lu Aiguo put aside his silly antics and said sternly, "Not bad. I’ve secured several orders through connections. Sister-in-law, if you need supplies for your business here, you can ask me. I’ll solve it for you."

Gu Xiaobei nodded and, after pondering for a moment, said, "If you have available funds, invest 10% in collections."

Lu Aiguo was a little confused, "Collections? Is it reliable?"

Gu Xiaobei explained, "If you have good taste, it’s not bad. You should learn about this area." Gu Xiaobei thought that not many people were making forgeries nowadays. If Lu Aiguo could focus, he would certainly make money.

After a moment, Lu Aiguo said, "Alright, I also thought about buying some treasury bonds. I figured I could make some money in five years."
