Back To The 80s-Chapter 322 - 332: Deserved (Additional if Guess the Answer Correctly)_1
Lu Aiguo had his noodles, said a quick hello to Lu Zhanguo, and then hurried out the door. He felt a bit ridiculous. He said he wouldn’t worry about Lu Ruixue anymore, but seeing Chen Dajun’s current state, he couldn’t help but get anxious again.
He decided to have someone check up on Chen Dajun and see what his relationship with that woman really was.
As he walked out of the military district quarters, he saw Lu Ruixue, dressed in a thick cotton coat and a large scarf, walking towards him. She stopped when she saw Lu Aiguo, standing there looking like she could burst into tears.
Lu Aiguo cast a cold glance at Lu Ruixue. Despite his concern for her, seeing her still made him angry, so he turned around and strode off.
"Brother, Chen Dajun didn’t come home last night, can you..."
"No." Lu Aiguo cut off Lu Ruixue before she could finish, flatly and decisively refusing.
Lu Ruixue burst into tears, "Brother, is it because I messed up once that you hold such a grudge against me?"
Lu Aiguo’s burgeoning worry for her abruptly vanished. "You really never learn, do you, no matter how many times you get burned. I’m done talking to you. Remember, don’t expect me to solve your problems anymore. I’m not your Goddess of Mercy. I don’t answer every prayer." Saying so, he continued walking without looking back.
Lu Ruixue wiped her tears. She didn’t think she had done anything wrong. If anything, she felt that Lu Aiguo was being petty, neglecting her over a minor financial matter. Angrily, she turned and headed towards her home.
She arrived at her doorway just as Chen Dajun was returning home after a night away. Unable to suppress her fury any longer, she shouted at him, "Where were you skulking around last night when you didn’t come home?"
Chen Dajun was taken aback by Lu Ruixue’s outburst at the front door and immediately felt belittled. He retorted with a dark expression, "Just look at yourself, behaving like a shrew."
Lu Ruixue, always hot-headed, became even angrier at Chen Dajun for insulting her. "Chen Dajun, you’ve grown quite bold, haven’t you? Daring to berate me like this! Listen, don’t you take things too far. It won’t end well for you."
Chen Dajun laughed dismissively, "Then let it not end well! Who are you trying to frighten with threats of divorce? I’ll have you know, I could still marry a lady with no prior marriages even if we did divorce."
Upon hearing this, Lu Ruixue snapped back, "Indeed, there isn’t a decent person in your rotten Chen family. Look at yourself. Are you so sure that any woman would be willing to marry the likes of you? Even the mice would be too lazy to steal from your impoverished household."
Chen Dajun’s mother, Qiu Yan, had been listening to the squabble from behind the door. She was furious when she heard Lu Ruixue insult the entire Chen family. She burst out, pointing at Chen Dajun, "Just look at whom you’ve brought home! We’ve been short-changed, catering to all her needs. The moment she’s upset, she antagonizes the whole family. Let her leave immediately."
Chen Dajun’s face was also filled with rage as he shouted at Lu Ruixue, "Go back to the Lu’s. All of you are so wonderful, aren’t you? Well, our humble Chen family cannot accommodate you." Chen Dajun had initially married Lu Ruixue considering her family background. He had never expected that the Lu family would look down on him. They were of no help either. Now, the sight of Lu Ruixue’s pampered temperament angered him even more.
Lu Ruixue was stunned. She hadn’t thought that Chen Dajun would berate her in such a manner. She had always been spoiled and pampered, and now, seeing Chen Dajun’s seriousness, she felt frightened. Standing in place, she began to cry. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Qiu Yan spoke up impatiently, "If you want to cry, go cry at the Lu’s house. Don’t cause a scene at our doorstep, bringing bad luck on us during the holidays."
Lu Ruixue thought about it, realizing she had no face to return to her parental home. She stifled her tears, lowered her head, and entered the house.
Chen Dajun had always seen through Lu Ruixue’s attitude of bluffing. Now that she had no backing, she had no choice but to submit to him. Watching Lu Ruixue obediently enter the house, he sneered, following her inside.
Qiu Yan continued to nag unhappily from behind, "Who does she think she is, acting like a spoiled rich girl all the time? If she continues to behave in such a manner, you’d better send her back. We can’t accommodate such a grand person in our home."
Lu Ruixue returned to her room, collapsing onto the bed in tears. Chen Dajun went in after her but didn’t offer any comfort. Instead, he merely lay down on the other side of the bed, pulled the covers over himself, and went to sleep.

Wen Xiuqing was invited to have dinner at the Bai’s. Much like Lu Aiguo had guessed, they were setting up a blind date for Bai Xiaolan. The man was an academic, sophisticated and educated, wearing thin-rimmed glasses and sitting stiffly on the sofa.
Bai Xiaolan sat on a single sofa, rolling her eyes. Her mother was really top-notch, managing to find a divorced man.
Wen Xiuqing was cradling Mo Wang, sizing up this bespectacled man. She thought he was too cautious and timid, a poor match for Bai Xiaolan.
Zhou Siping, however, was extremely pleased with the man. The prospective suitor had stated that he didn’t mind Bai Xiaolan’s pugnacious nature as he was a teacher and could hence reason with her and eventually curb her aggressive tendencies.
These words made Zhou Siping even more satisfied.
Bai Xiaolan, noticing how pleased her mother was, deliberately asked, "Why did Teacher Zhang get divorced?"
Zhang Liang replied, somewhat evasively, "We got married when we were sent to the countryside as Educated Youths. Due to a lack of common ground, we decided to divorce."
Bai Xiaolan scoffed, "So you left her behind when you moved back to the city?"
Zhang Liang quickly waved his hands, "No, not at all. We separated before I moved back to the city."
Zhou Siping couldn’t help but scold her, "Xiaolan, everyone has a past. Besides, Teacher Zhang is great just the way he is now, his profession is quite respectable."
Bai Xiaolan nodded, "Yes, he is. But it makes me wonder why his ex-wife would be willing to divorce such a fine man. Was she out of her mind? Generally, it’s the city-dwelling educated youths who leave their country wives once they move back to cities. It’s quite unusual to hear about a country-dwelling wife who’d reject a city-bred educated youth like him. So, I was just curious."
Zhang Liang’s face turned a shade of red and then paled. He had indeed abandoned his rural wife to return to the city with a light heart.
It was only then that Zhou Siping realized what was happening. She was initially anxious to find a suitor for her daughter and was tricked by the matchmaker as well. Her face immediately fell.
Zhang Liang, being observant, noticed Zhou Siping’s displeasure and got up to excuse himself.
Once Zhang Liang left, Bai Xiaolan joked, "Mom, you must really be fed up with me to try to push me into the fire pit."
Zhou Siping replied in irritation, "Your godmother is really unreliable. She talked about the couple lacking common ground and the female wanting to marry up. I agreed without thinking. How could I forget that no matter how high a branch a countrywoman tried to reach for, it wouldn’t be as affluent as Zhang Liang’s current lifestyle."
Bai Xiaolan laughed and said, "Mom, since Auntie is here today, your word is your bond. If I agree to this blind date, you can’t interfere with my life for two years. Or else, I might just hide in a cave somewhere in the far northwest."
