Back To The 80s-Chapter 315 - 325: Letting Go_1
Yuan Dahai, standing at the door, saw Qin Ximei struggling to get up and quickly stepped over. He grabbed Qin Ximei and threw her onto the bed with force, angrily cursing, "You wicked woman, is there anything you can’t do?"
Wen Xiuqing quietly watched Yuan Dahai finish scolding Qin Ximei before slowly saying, "I came today, not to settle accounts with you, but to tell you that I’m tired. I don’t want to wrangle with you anymore. I have Little Mo Wang now. I can’t ignore my family anymore because of my past hatred. I owe them too much. I’ve put too much thought into the past."
Yuan Dahai looked at Wen Xiuqing with a face full of shame, "Sister-in-law, I will give you an explanation for this matter, don’t worry."
Wen Xiuqing shook her head, "No need. Nothing is more pitiful than her miserable end. I was blinded with resentment and missed so much."
Qin Ximei wailed, "Yuan Dahai, listen to her. She made our two daughters jailed, and you just don’t care? Are you still a father?"
"Such daughters, it’s better if we don’t have them. And you, look at what kind of children you have raised? This is retribution!" Yuan Dahai said with a bitter smile.
Yuan Qing, in another room, also came over when she heard the noise, standing at the door, her eyes filled with tears as she listened to the conversation in the room, touching her empty stomach and feeling infinitely sad.
After saying everything, Wen Xiuqing felt as if a weight had been lifted. For many years, this matter had been a stone on her heart, leaving her breathless, countless sleepless nights. The day she heard Aiguo’s sobbing in the kitchen, and holding Little Mo Wang these past few days, made her realize that she had missed out on so much. But maybe it was not too late now.
Gu Xiaobei was surprised to see Wen Xiuqing returning home with a light step. Her eyes seemed to have been crying, but there was an inexplicable joy on her face.
As soon as Wen Xiuqing entered the door, she told Gu Xiaobei, "I just went to the market and bought a few apples. Soak them in boiling water, then scoop them out and feed them to Xiaopang and Mo Wang."
Gu Xiaobei nodded, seemingly forgetting that he should feed the children some fruits. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
After saying that, Wen Xiuqing changed her clothes and went to the kitchen to blanch the apples.
Bai Xiaolan, holding Mo Wang, came to Gu Xiaobei and whispered, "How did Auntie Lu change after going out for a while?"
Gu Xiaobei was also puzzled, wondering who she met that caused such a big change.
Wen Xiuqing cut open the apples, blanched them in boiling water, and then brought out a small iron spoon, calling Gu Xiaobei and Bai Xiaolan to bring the kids to the dining table.
She scooped out some apple puree with the iron spoon to feed Xiaopang and Mo Wang. The two little ones were eating fruit for the first time. Xiaopang opened his little mouth wide in excitement, waiting for his grandmother to feed him quickly. If she was slow, he would start to cry, while Little Mo Wang was much more restrained. Every bite he ate, he would smack his lips for a long time, savoring the taste.
Seeing the two children finish an apple quickly, Gu Xiaobei expressed some concern, "Mom, it’s their first time eating fruit. Won’t they eat too much?"
Wen Xiuqing reassured him in a surprisingly gentle tone, "It’s okay. The apple isn’t big, and eating more apples is good for them. From now on, feed them an apple every morning."
Caught off guard by Wen Xiuqing’s sudden gentleness, Gu Xiaobei could only hurriedly nod his head.
Xiaopang, seeing his grandmother put the spoon away and stop feeding him, started humming discontentedly. He loved the taste of the apple and hadn’t had enough yet.
Gu Xiaobei held Xiaopang helplessly and laughed, "Our little glutton here will be eating this every day from now on."
Bai Xiaolan, after having lunch, still stayed. Gu Xiaobei let her help bring the kids upstairs for a nap. After reaching the upstairs room, Bai Xiaolan still didn’t show any intention to leave.
Gu Xiaobei couldn’t help but ask, "Did you cause trouble again?"
Bai Xiaolan scratched her head sheepishly, laughing, "Not really. Just that the guy I beat up last time showed up at my house to complain. When I stay home, my mom keeps nagging at me. It annoys me, so I came out to get away."
Gu Xiaobei laughed, "You always fight. Aren’t you afraid that someone will retaliate? With you out in the open and others sticking to the shadows, what then?"
Bai Xiaolan snorted, "I’m really not afraid. My principle is that either you kill me, or I won’t let you have it easy. Also, I’m not stupid, no one dares to mess with me in Capital City with my three older brothers around. When I leave Capital City, I’ll restrain myself. Hehe." After the last sentence, Bai Xiaolan chuckled, finding her own fiery temper amusing.
"Just remember, a wise man does not eat the loss before him." Gu Xiaobei advised. This girl had a fiery temper and was like Zhang Fei. She charged headfirst into everything without thinking.
Bai Xiaolan muttered, "Then a wise man would be suffocated." Then she laughed and said, "My mom said I was born with the wrong gender. I should’ve been a boy. My three brothers aren’t as troublesome as I am."
Gu Xiaobei enjoyed interacting with frank and cheerful people, because it was not exhausting. She understood Bai Xiaolan’s temperament was partly natural, and partly due to the support from her three brothers.
Bai Xiaolan wasn’t ready to leave until after dinner. She shuffled home, grumbling, "I can’t wait for the New Year. After the New Year, I’ll live in the provincial city."
After Bai Xiaolan left, Fang Jing couldn’t help but ask, "Sister-in-law, since when have you and Bai Xiaolan been so close?"
Gu Xiaobei wasn’t sure herself. Their friendship started out of the blue. She shook her head and said, "After that fight, she came over once, and we just clicked."
Fang Jing nodded and said, "Bai Xiaolan seems very casual, but there aren’t many people she actually likes. She’s about the same age as Ruirui, but she never plays with her. Bai Xiaolan’s three brothers treated her like a treasure, enabling her to swagger around in Sijiu City. But she loves fighting too much. Who would dare to marry a tomboy who is always getting into fights?"
Gu Xiaobei laughed, "Don’t worry. The day she meets a man she likes, she’ll definitely behave."
Fang Jing sighed, "I don’t know when second brother and Aiguo will be back." She looked at Wen Xiuqing, who was sitting on the sofa holding Mo Wang, and swallowed the last part of her sentence.
Gu Xiaobei was also worried, hoping Lu Zhanguo and the others could bring back some useful information.
Lu Zhanguo and Lu Aiguo were originally supposed to go back to Capital City the next day, but due to the heavy snow, the trains were out of service, and the two of them were stuck in Zhangbei.
Lu Aiguo was lying on the bed, legs crossed, griping at Lu Zhanguo, "If you hadn’t taken my radio, we wouldn’t be staring eye-to-eye in boredom. We could be listening to a story."
Lu Zhanguo, too lazy to deal with him, leaned against the blanket, closing his eyes to feign sleep.
Someone knocked on the door as the two of them were lying in the room bored.
